Review - Redken Powder Refresh 01

Redken-Powder-Refresh-01I’ve pretty much come become accustom to the white residue powder that comes with the territory of using a dry shampoo. So I was mucho surprised then I started using REDKEN’s Powder Refresh 01. There’s pretty much no white powder to contend with! It’s part of their Style Connection Collection and comes in a large and mini size, just in case you need some on the go.

Like all the good ones, this absorbs oil, extends the life of a great blowout and, as I find myself mainly using it for, over using a product in my hair. So all the good traits and virtually no white powder. This gets two thumbs up for that alone. $18/3.4oz and $7.50/1.2oz @ salons nationwide and @ amazon.com.

Benefit Cosmetics Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Makeup

Benefit-Cosmetics-Hello-Flawless-Oxygen-Wow-SPF-25-Brightening-MakeupDo you change your foundation from season to season or is it rather week to week? Like fragrances, I fall into the latter category. But the latest liquid I’ve been rocking is BENEFIT COSMETICSnew Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow SPF 25 Brightening Makeup. This is their foray into the foundation category and I have to say their timing is right on. What I partially mean by this is that it sucks when a brand comes out with a product, just to have it in the line. I really feel like they did their due in creating this one.

It’s described as a lightweight and brightening formula that’s oil-free and has a SPF 25 PA+++ and comes in nine different shades. They have somehow incorporated oxygen into it, as the name states, to help plump up the skin and hydrate it. Did I notice this? Not really to my naked eye.

If you are in the market for a medium coverage foundation, this would be a good one to give a whirl. And I like that it comes in a keep-the-foundation-bacteria-free pump bottle and a little goes a long way. $34/1oz @ sephora.com.

Review - Bond No. 9 Central Park West

Bond-No.-9-Central-Park-West-edpI have not had too much experience with the BOND NO. 9 line but I am certainly intrigued by the architecturally appealing bottles. The latest scent addition to the Uptown collection is called Central Park West and pays homage to the City parks as oases of serene greenery scattered all over Manhattan.

When I first looked at this bottle, I thought it looked more like a topping on a cake then an eau de perfum bottle but upon second look, I see that if you purchase the 100ml size, the pink rose-blossom Swarovski accent on the top comes off and can be worn as jewelry. How unique!

This one screams spring with the following:

Top notes: narcissus, ylang ylang, black pepper
Middle notes: gardenia, jasmine, citrus-like linden, orris
Bottom: vetiver, musk, white oak, treemoss.

And it helps that the SO gave this one two thumbs up.

$95 to $390 @ saks.com.

Lippy – British slang for someone who makes impertinent or cheeky remarks.

The BUTTER LONDON nail line just came out with some Lippys that match some of the polishes as part of the Spring/Summer 2012 collection.
