Prevent Makeup Melt Down with CoverFX

Cover-FX-SettingFX-PowderI’ll do just about anything these days to prevent makeup meltdown/fall out/fade away, or whatever you’re calling it so I find myself always reaching for the finishing powder to seal it all in. Lately, I’ve been reaching for COVER FX’s Setting FX Translucent Setting Powder. It’s mineral-based, talc-free and oil-free and comes in Translucent and Dark. $32 @ sephora.comulta.com.

Exploring Minerals with Mineral Hygenics

So how do you feel about mineral makeup? There are quite a few lines that have come out over the years and I’ve explored some of them here and even though it’s an old story at this point, I’m still intrigued by lines I come across, especially by this one here, MINERAL HYGENICS.

I really like their website and how clear they are about the ingredients inside their makeup. I mean, it is all about what’s inside and what’s not inside the powders. And you really need to get to know your mineral makeup, especially if you have sensitive skin because some ingredients have been known to be irritating. If you are a sensitive type, you may have some luck with this Mineral Hygenics line of foundation powders as each contains just 4 ingredients: mica, iron oxides, zinc oxides and titanium dioxide. That’s it and they break down other mineral makeup lines as well so you can see side-by-side what contains what.

Mineral-Hygenics-Mineral-MakeupSo this MH has sun protection (zinc oxides and titanium dioxide), is water resistant and lasts quite a long time on the skin.

They have some nicely priced sets to choose from as well as blushes, eye shadows and lipsticks but as usual, I tend to judge a mineral line by its powder foundations first and then the rest and I’m giving this line a thumbs up. Starter kits startat $29.99 @ mineralhygenics.com

Review+Swatches - MAC Cook MAC Collection

In trying to keep up with MAC (I might start calling KUWM for short), comes the Cook MAC Collection. Again, super cute sleeves over the standard packaging. I tried the Tendertones ($15) in Tread Gently (soft lime green with yellow pearl) and Fluidline ($15) in Wholesome (blackened brown). $17.50 @ ulta.com

Review+Swatches - MAC Shop MAC Collection

How does anyone keep up with MAC? They have a new collection every few weeks, which is great if you are a girl that needs new makeup stimulation frequently but me, I just can’t keep up. Anyway, I had to get my bearings and come up for air with some products from two of the latest, the Shop MAC Collection and the Cook Collection. Let’s take a look-see at Shop MAC first …

I love the colors of the sleeves the products come in with this collection; Andy Warhol would have loved the graphics. I tried two of the products, MAC Cremeblend Blush ($20) in Florida (bright fuchsia) and Kissable Lipcolour ($19) in Flaunting It (grey mauve).

Review+Swatches - Clinique Quickliner for Eyes Intense

I’ve had some pretty great luck when it comes to eyeliners lately. Then again, I think that the makeup companies are really going all out at creating long-lasting and richly-pigmented colors and the new CLINIQUE Quickliner for Eyes Intense are getting high marks from me.

Review+Swatches - Kanebo Sensai The Lipstick

I got my hands on two more of The Lipsticks from the KANEBO line. Yes, they are on the expensive side but what you are paying for a truly a great quality with skincare-grade ingredients inside. If your lips get dried out from most lipsticks, these are a great one to try.
