Review+Swatches - Tom Ford Beauty Lip Colors

I’ve often said, and even tweeted, if every guy out there could just dress like TOM FORD, we’d have no problems in this world. But until that happens, I’ll just have to entertain myself with his first full line of cosmetics, Tom Ford Beauty: The Color Collection. I got my paws on some of them for review and swatch.

Tom Ford’s personal color palette of eighteen classic Lip Colors. From Bare Nude to Fire Red to Deep Brown, each one is Ford’s modern ideal of an essential makeup shade. Rare and exotic ingredients including Soja Seed Extract, Brazilian Murumuru Butter, Chamomilla Flower Oil create and ultra-creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated color pigments are blended to deliver pure color with just the right balance of luminosity for a polished finish.

#16 Scarlet Rouge – an orange-based red. If you are not a red wearer, this could be a good one to start with as it doesn’t scream red.

#14 Sable Smoke – a dark nude

#09 True Coral – when I think of the color coral, this is what I think of. It’s very rich and as you can see from the swatch, very bright! Love it.

So the bottom line is, is this worth $48? If lipstick is “your thing” then this could be. Like for mascara, I will pay $24 a tube and there are other areas of beauty I will splurge on. These give about 3 to 4 hours of wear with the darker one leaving a slight stain after a few, but are not really smudge proof, drink proof, which I’ve really come to love. On the other hand, lips don’t get as dry as with those long-wearing ones so these have their pluses. Would you pay extra for a quality lipstick?
