New from Lavanila!

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Lavanila-Forever-Fragrance-Oil-in-Vanilla-Grapefruit Like a good wine, the LAVANILA line just gets better with … every product they put out. I can’t think of one line where I’ve not only tried just about every product in the line but also liked them (I’m an antiperspirant/deodorant girl and theirs is only antiperspirant so I’ve never tried it). In looking at the order of which products of theirs I like the most, I’m moving their new Forever Fragrance Oil in Vanilla Grapefruit ($25/8ml only @ dermstore.com) up towards the top of the list, if not at the top.

One of the major reasons I’m digging this one is because of the overall sweet oriental scent but the other is because it lasts a long time on the skin. No apply-it and then where’s-it-at here! The base of this scent is sweet almond oil and there’s no alcohol inside so it’s super concentrated. It’s made with essential oils and contains notes of grapefruit, bergamot, lime, orange, cedarwood, heliotrope, and Madagascar vanilla. Big recommendation. Also available in Vanilla Coconut and Pure Vanilla

Fall Standouts – Fragrance

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Fall is a very popular time for new scents and the below three are total standouts for me. What scent has your attention right now?

Fall-2011-Product-Picks-FragrancesACQUA DI PARMA Gelsomino Nobile EDP ($170/3.4oz, $108/1.7oz @ neimanmarcus.com) – welcome  the newest addition to their Le Nobili collection, this one is centered on a special species of Jasmine grown in Calabria, Italy, and it’s described as a true floral with musk undertones.

BY KILIAN Sweet Redemption (The End) ($225/1.7oz refillable bottle, $125/1.7oz refill, $135/1oz refillable travel spray @ saksfifthavenue.com) – this is the final release in By Killian’s L’Oeuvre Noire series and what a way to go out. This one is orange blossom, sour orange leaf absolute, vanilla absolute on a dry down of myrrh, incense and benzoin. This one is kind of hard to describe without smelling it.

FENDI Fan di Fendi EDP ($56/1oz, $76/1.7oz, $92/2.5oz @ ice.com) – they call this one a radiant floral with a splash of leather and pink peppercorn. And the F logos on the bottle make me want to carry it around in my purse to show it off.

Fall Body Cleanser Picks

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Do you prefer a liquid body soap or bar soap? I oscillate between the two throughout the week with no real favorite rearing its head. Here are four new ones that just came out that are in full rotation in my shower.

Fall-Body-Cleansers-2011 BODYCOLOGY Shower Gel & Bubble Bath in Enchanted Forest ($4.99/16oz @ walgreens.com for locations) – using real honey and aloe vera, this one smells of jasmine (my favorite) and nutmeg on a base of musk and just really clean smelling.

THYMES Triple-Milled Soap in Bergamot Vert ($13/7oz @ ulta.com) – this one is a dash of floral, a dash of woody and two dashes of citrus. Yes, it’s officially fall but this one seems to delight all year round.

SOAP & PAPER FACTORY Handmade Shea Butter Soap in Close ($8/4oz @ smallflower.com) – now you and your man can enjoy the same soap as this one is a tad masculine – sandalwood, cedar and a hint of citrus.

BATH & BODY WORKS Shower Gel in Paris Amour ($10.50/10oz @ bathandbodyworks.com) - this scent collection just came out and it’s surprisingly nice this time of year – French tulips, apple blossoms and sparkling pink champagne.

New from Shiseido!

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Shiseido-Shimmering-Cream-Eye-Color Woo-hoo, loving SHISEIDO’s new Shimmering Cream Eye Colors. The shades are really smooth, blendable and just really nice to look it. The 12 colors were inspired by makeup artist Dick Page’s photography and travels around the globe. These creams are not like your average cream shadows. It contains three key traits - each container uses their patent-pending emulsification technology to remove excess water and oil after applying the shadow, so the color stays truer, longer. Each formula contains a jewel reflecting powder that reflects different colors from different angles; each contains their own technology called Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE, which helps with keeping the color moist on lids so it doesn’t dry up and flake off. Color picks: Purple Dawn (VI305) and Angel (BL711), a deep teal blue. $25/6g @ nordstrom.com.

Let’s face it, if your brows look bunk, your whole look is ruined. I’m really into this new glōBrow Collection kit from GLO PROFESSIONAL. It completely totable and the items inside are pretty great quality.

It comes in the Brown kit and the Taupe. So what are you using to groom your brows these days? $45.50 @ gloskinbeauty.com.

Fall 2011 Product Standouts - Part 1

OMG, it is already September 21st and I’m not even half way through featuring all the new fall beauty products so I’m going to stretch this Fall Beauty Pick feature into October. After all, fall is one of my favorite seasons – the colors, the textures and of course the temperatures! Here are some that are singing my tune right now.

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Fall-2011-Product-Picks-first-feature Clockwise left to right:

MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Lash in #6 Plum ($22 @ sephora.com) – this one claims to curl and lo and behold, I think it did! A great complement when wearing their Crayon Kohl Pencil in new shade 10k, a deep eggplant sheen.

NYC COLOR In A New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish in Scenestealer Grey ($1.99 @ drugstores nationwide) – metallic grey is a hot color for fall and it goes with so many different looks.

NAPOLEON PERDIS NP SET False Eye Lashes in Manchester ($10 @ target.com) – if you just want a little emphasis on your eyes, this style will do it subtly. If a strip is too hard for you to maneuver, there’s also Copenhagen, individual lashes.

PACIFICA Island Vanilla Perfume ($22/1oz, $12/roll-on @ dermstore.com) – Tahitian vanilla, vanilla absolute, honey-jasmine and a touch of fruit and tea make up this totally wearable made from pure grain alcohol scent.

POP BEAUTY Face Magnet Primer ($26/1.18oz @ dermstore.com) – this makeup primer not only keeps your makeup on but it has UV protection, caffeine and anti-aging ingredients. Gotta love double triple duty products.

NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Rue de Rivoli ($25 @ sephora.com) – this metallic forest green will complement any eye color. Very smooth application and it has a sharpener built in the backend.

CLINIQUE Lipgloss/Lipstick Duo in Black Honey ($21 @ sephora.com) – check out what all the hubbub is about with their cult favorite Black Honey shade. It’s their best seller for a reason and now they have it in a combo Lip Gloss and Lipstick.

Orly Nails It for Fall

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I am so feeling ORLY’s new Birds of a Feather Collection of Nail Lacquers. The colors are along the lines of this collection and really broke some ground in the nail industry as far as finishes go. The colors are inspired by the colors found is bird feathers found around the globe. With that in mind, I expected more reds and purples and out of all the colors, the one I’m feeling the least is the Peachy Parrot one. I just don’t feel like it goes with the others and certainly don’t feel it for the coming months; darker more vibrant is what is on deck for my fingertips right now.

Color picks: Fowl Play (purple sparkle), Lucky Duck (green crème), Nite Owl (beige shimmer), Sea Gurl (grey shimmer), Sweet Peacock (blue shimmer). Which colors are you feeling? $7.50 @ jcpenney.comorlybeauty.com

Fall Collection Standouts from Jemma Kidd JK

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I am so loving the latest collection from JEMMA KIDD’s JK line and it’s so affordable. Here are the details and why I am loving these two products she just put out.

Jemma-Kidd-Red-Carpet-Lip-Cheek-Tint-&-Gloss-2 Red Carpet Lip & Cheek Tint & Gloss ($18) – this one is a stain on one side and lip/eye gloss on the other but for this one it’s all about this stain. It uses the roller ball to dispense the color so just roll some on and quickly blend it in and the nice flush lasts for hours!

I also tried it as a stain for my lips but it seemed to work better on cheeks. If you just like a slight tint of color, maybe this would work for you. Available in Dress Up (berry red) and Glam up (petal pink).

Jemma-Kidd-I-Sculpt-Shadow-and-Liner-3 Harsh lines on eyes just don’t work all the time. Sometimes you just want a little smoke and applying liner and then smoking it out can be just too many steps. So I’m loving her I-Sculpt Shadow & Liner ($17) is a quick way to swipe on some gorgeous color. One side is the liner and the other is the side is a rubber smudgy with a complementing shadow color. Available in Mary Q (charcoal), Carnaby St. (brown) and Kings Road (plum).
