See the Latest in Technology from Degree

Degree-Women-Expert-Protection-with-motionSENSE When I think of technology and the category of beauty, a few where you can really see it come to mind – skin care, toothpaste and this next one, deodorant. DEGREE just put out a doosie of an anti-perspirant/deodorant that contains their own motionSENSE technology. They came up with it based on their research that the average women moves her arm 5,000 times a day – from brushing her teeth, to walking the dog to putting on makeup. How do you even count these motions? Anyway, the core ingredient is activated by motion and no moisture, like most, and how it works is when there’s motion, micro-capsules break open and do their work.

They are rolling out some anti-perspirants/deodorants in the coming months but the first one to show itself is the brand’s Women Expert Protection with motionSENSE. I’ve been wearing it daily for a few weeks but the ultimate test was the last two weekends hiking Runyon Canyon (if you live in LA, you have probably hiked it). My underarms were totally dry at the end of each hike, unlike the rest of me! $4.16/2.6oz @ mass market retail stores.

And be sure to read more about this technology @ walgreens.com

Review: Beautisol Need I Glow More? Face Self-Tanner

Beautisol-Need-I-Glow-More-Face-Self-Tanner

The faux tan is on as in if you need or want color, ditch the tanning beds and give a self-tanner a whirl. Each one new one that comes out is just better than the last and this next one proves my theory! It’s BEAUTISOL Need I Glow More? Face Self-Tanner and what’s interesting is that when I tried one for the face last year, it burned my face – made it all red. So needless-to-say, I didn’t use it again. The Beautisol PR person told me it had been reformulated and asked me to try it, so why not? I picked a day where I had nothing going on to try it out initially.

So how did it go? Click below to find out!

Spring Scents

I’m a little obsessed with all things spring right now and of course smells or scents fall in that category. Here are a few I’m swooning over!

Pacifica-Lilac-Banana-Republic-Atelier-Cologne PACIFICA French Lilac Spray Perfume ($22/1oz @ dermstore.com) – florals can be fierce and this one sure is! Feel the season with a blend of lilac, magnolia leaves, heliotrope, ylang ylang, hyacinth and nectarine. And you can’t beat this price!

BANANA REPUBLIC Wildbloom Eau de Parfum Natural Spray ($48/1.7oz @ Banana Republic stores nationwide) – Classified as a Floral Fruity Chypre scent for the ever-so-confident reader that we know reads Cybelesays.com, this one combines guava, pear, watery hydrangea, blue orchid on a base of patchouli and sandalwood. A great evening scent and will leave people in your wake wonder just what the sexy scent is.

ATELIER COLOGNE in Orange Sanguine Cologne Absolue ($50/1oz and $145/6.7oz @ neimanmarcus.com) – are you a citrus girl at heart? Then you might want to give this one a whiff. The concentrated formula has top notes of blood orange and bitter orange, middle notes of jasmine, geranium from South Africa on a base of amber woods, tonka beans and sandalwood.

Spring Product Picks!

Givenchy-Candide-Garden-Eye-Shadow-Quad-Smashbox-Chanel-Rouge-Coco-Shine GIVENCHY hit it on the head with this Le Prism Eyeshadow Quartet in Candide Garden from their Spring 2011 Collection. The 3 pastels are so spring and the chocolate brown is a nice contour shade that blends with each beautifully. $56 @ net-a-porter.com.

I am such a lip stain fan and always have been. And while I really like this SMASHBOX Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm, why the roughness of the pen on the stain application side? I mean, does it help with the application of staying power? This is not the first marker-type stain I have used but the ouchie part seems to be a trend. It feels like a low-grade sandpaper!
Anyway, this one comes in 6 different colors and is good one for when you are on your way to the mall to try on clothes. Who wants to worry about lipstick or gloss when pulling something with the tags attached over your head? Color picks Berry (muted raspberry) and Guave (bright coral orange). $23 @ ulta.com.

So what is CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine exactly? It’s not a lip gloss and a little bit sheerer than a lipstick so if just a touch of color is more your thing, you may want to try these out. They come in 18 shades. $32 @ chanel.com.

Cracking Up with China Glaze

China-Glaze-Crackle-Glaze-Nail-Lacquer-in-Cracked-Concrete Want to know what the latest trend in nail polishes is? Crackle! Sort of like this I did back in March 2010, it’s gives the nail an unsmooth texture. A few lines have come out with these Crackle nail polishes and I was able to try the ones from CHINA GLAZE. Just paint your nails with any color like you normally would, wait for them to fully dry and then apply a coat of Crackle Glaze! It takes about 10 seconds for it to start drying and crackling. The finish is kind of matte so for you apply a top coat to keep your mani/pedi a long time.

Shown here – China Glaze Crackle Nail Lacquer in Cracked Concrete ($7.50 @ chinaglaze.com) on top of Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Enchanted Garnet ($21 @ nordstrom.com). Top Coat – CND Top Coat Super Shiney ($5.30 @ amazon.com).

OCC Makeup Gets Their Spring/Summer On

Do you like a little fun with your makeup along the lines of Hard Candy and Urban Decay? Have you tried Obsessive Compulsive Makeup aka OCCMAKEUP yet? I’ve featured the line on the site a few times and the more I play with the line, the more I become a fan. If you haven’t , their Lo-Fi Spring/Summer 2011 Collection is a great one to start with. This is their polarizing reaction to the HD makeup trend happening right now  and the colors reflect the season’s makeup trends of color, color, and more color in their Lip Tars, Loose Colours and Nail Lacquers. What I like about this line is not only the great quality but you can tell they don’t have any filler color or products in the line. In other words, they put out what they mean!

OCC-Makeup-Lip-Tar-and-Loose-Colour Product picks: Lip Tar in Beta (vivid neon orange. Such a great one to mix with other shades), Interlace (subtle peach neutral). Loose Colour in Bitmap (rich, leafy green w/vibrant gold shimmer), Distortion (dark, smoky navy w/green and gold reflections) and Noise (muted reddish plum w/pink/blue duochrome).

They also have new Nail Lacquers in the collection but I didn’t try any of them. So tell me, have you tried any of the line and what did you think? All @ occmakeup.com

Clinique's Bomb Balms

Clinique-Chubby-Stick These little chub sticks contains some nourishing oils like jojoba, mango and olive and just a hint of color. And when I say hint, I mean hint, almost not enough for me. It’s from CLINIQUE and it’s their new Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balms. The finish is between a balm and a gloss so if you don’t like the feeling of wearing lipstick, think might be a good one for you. So fix your lips but look good doing it!

Choose from 8 colors for $15 @ sephora.com. Color picks: Chunky Cherry (sheer cherry red) and Graped Up (sheer sheer plum beige).

Give Skin a Boost with Neova

Neova-Day-Therapy-SPF-30 It’s sad to say that most people only think of sunscreen when it comes to the spring and summer but I think overall we are getting better with it and soon every woman with think of donning it year ‘round. Incorporating it automatically in your moisturizer is a good way to always remember and the NEOVA line has one that’s getting high marks on my end. It’s called Day Therapy SPF 30 and think of this one as a deluxe sunscreen in that it not only protects against both UVA/UVB rays but it uses major anti-aging ingredients. The only other company I have heard of that embraces copper like this one does in its products is this one. It contains a GHK Copper  Peptide Complex, that’s a major antioxidant boost to the skin. So if you’re going to SPF it, and I hope you do often, why not help fight the signs of aging at the same time? $85/1.7oz @ dermstore.com.

Estee Lauder Rocks Eyes for Summer

What can I say about this palette that this picture doesn’t say already? This one might fall under this category but I’m trying to get out of that habit and actually try and use the items and not just stare. I mean, isn’t that what they are for? Anyway, we are jumping ahead a season to summer as this palette is from ESTEE LAUDER’s new Bronze Goddess Soleil Summer 2011 Collection. The collection is inspired by the hues and atmosphere of a luxurious island resort and the bronze shades are combined with aqua and coral to create a sultry summer look.
