Green Envee – When Organic is Not Enough

Green-Envee-Brazilian-Orange-&-Litsea-Body-Wash That’s part of their mission statement for this GREEN ENVEE ORGANICS line. They also believe in finding the best fair trade ingredients to put in their products and ones that are not harmful for the environment. My first experience with the line and my first pick (good sign!) has to be the Brazilian Orange & Litsea Body Wash. Love oranges? Well this one is packed with organic sweet orange oil, mandarin, grapefruit and even tangerine oils as well as organic jojoba, aloe and vitamin E. It leaves my skin smelling like the middle of summer!

There are really no bad ingredients inside this one and it cleans and smells just as good as the cheaper ones. Yes, this one will cost you more but quality is not cheap. $18/8oz @ greenenvee.com.

Macadamia Tames Strands

Ooo, I am tré excited about this next one! You know I get pretty amped when I discover a really great hair conditioner or hair mask. The brand is MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL, which you may remember me touting this brand earlier this year with this product of theirs. And they’ve expanded the product line with a Leave-in Cream, Rejuvenating Shampoo, Healing Oil Spray, among others, and my pick right now, their Deep Repair Masque. The crazy cold and rain we’ve been having in LA in the past two weeks has been really putting my strands through the ringer, so this one arrived just in time. It combines their signature Macadamia and Argan Oils with tea tree and chamomile oils as well as aloe and algae extract.

Macadamia-Natural-Oil-Travel-Kit
I’ve used this one two different ways, one right while the shower is going and ring out my hair as best as possible and the other way is the tried and true method of washing and then applying to towel dried hair.$28/8.5oz, $46/16.9oz @ amazon.com.

They also have some great kits available on their site like this travel one shown here, which is a great way to try a variety of products without having to commit to the big sizes and big prices.

What's Beautiful About Reach?

Reach-Total-Care-floss I don’t usually write too much about oral care products but if you think about it, they really are part of the beauty spectrum. So I am standing tall with my recommendation of REACH’s Total Care with Listerine flavors Fresh Mint Floss. What, did you think that a floss was a floss was a floss? Nope! What I like about this is that the flossing string has some give to it like stretchy jeans, so it makes it easier to get around each tooth. And really anything that’s going to make me want to floss gets points, right? $3.29 @ amazon.com.

Spornette-The-Feel-Good-Brush This brush from SPORNETTE has a big title to live up to you. It’s called The Feel Good Brush and ooo does it over! Who doesn’t love a good scalp massage and this one is perfect for that, as well as detangling strands. The bristles are made of soft and flexible nylon bristles and they recommend using it before and after the shower. So open up and say ahhhh… $9 @ amazon.com.

A New Trend from Mally Beauty?

Mally-Beauty-Poreless-Face-Defender-with-Sponge This MALLY BEAUTY Poreless Face Defender has to be one of the strangest (in a good way) product I have ever come across. It was created to act like a face powder but without the powder residue. See Mally hates powders. I can’t say I agree or disagree with her as I’m just so used to them and really only feel that my look is complete as soon as I swipe on a translucent finishing powder. What she was after with this Poreless Face Defender is the perfectly dewy finish that’s not shiny or powdery looking. The result in the compact looks like dried glue that you dab the enclosed sponge on and buff it around this face like you would a powder. It seals the makeup on just like a powder only without the powder after-effect. And I have to say, it really does make the skin look great and it feels quite slick too. So maybe think of this as a primer for after makeup it applied instead of before?

And thankfully QVC has a video on their site you can see before and after video! $40 @ qvc.com.

Scents for After the Holidays

Sometimes I’m not in the mood for your typical holiday scent, especially after the holiday, like this coming week. Here are two that are fitting the bill right now.

Tocca-Candle-in-Brigitte
TOCCA Candle in Brigitte ($36/10.6oz @ nordstrom.com) – combines ginger, rhubarb and papaya. Surprisingly pleasant.

Slatkin-&-Co.-Autumn-candle-2
SLATKIN & CO. Scented Candle in Autumn ($9.50/4oz, $19.50/14.5oz @ bathandbodyworks.com) – blends the lush smells of red delicious apples, fig and notes of fir balsam and rich cedarwood.

Gift Pick: Calvin Klein Beauty

CK-Beauty Holiday-Icon-2010 I’ve received a few emails in the past couple of weeks about fragrances and what brand overall makes a good gift. The best way to determine what kind of fragrance your recipient would like is to see what kinds they wear right now. Do they tend to favor light floral or spicy sexy oriental? Overall, I don’t think you can go wrong with the classics like Chanel but I also think CALVIN KLEIN’s latest Beauty seems like it could have mass appeal for the older woman who favors an eau de parfum on your list. Made with those over 40 in mind, it mixes neo-lily, jasmine and cedarwood. Nice! $50/1oz, $65/1.7oz, $85/3.4oz @ hsn.com.

Holiday Red with Estee Lauder

Estee-Lauder-Pure-Color-Long-Lasting-Lipstick Who doesn't see red one way or another during the holiday season? For me, I’ve been seeing on my lips and these sparkly ones from ESTEE LAUDER are doing the trick. Both the Extravagant Berry and Extravagant Red shades shown here of their Pure Color Long Lasting Lipsticks ($22 @ neimanmarcus.com) have tiny glints of gold sitting on the outside of them to help with the sparkle factor. So festive!
