Matte is Not Going Anwhere and Lancome Shows Us

Lancome-Mix-&-Matte-Collection When it comes to makeup, shimmer may come and go into style but I don’t think matte will ever go away. It’s clean, it’s sexy and trè grown up. LANCOME just put out the Mix & Matte Collection of eight colors called Color Design Matte Lipstick ($22.50 @ bloomingdales.com) and each formula contains soft silicones and pigments that are feather-resistant and super non-drying. And the Corset is thee perfect coral lip color!

Exuviance Heel Repair Works the Feet

Exuviance-Heel-Repair No matter what lotion or balm I use on my feel, my soles seem no better by the end of the day and there  I am, back at square one. What the dilly? And I’ve been using products that are made especially for feet but just don’t think most are truly made to be able to penetrate the tough skin. I don’t get it. I was about to give up when I was sent over EXUVIANCE new Heel Repair ($38/3.4oz @ ulta.com), which comes from the NeoStrata brand.

I had been using this one and like it ok but the clove scent started bothering me so I tossed it. What I initially liked, I started to dislike! Has that ever happened to you? Anyway, this Heel Repair contains Alpha and Polyhydroxy Acids (AHAs and PHAs), that really penetrate the skin to repair trouble spots like the heel and the Pro-Vitamin E and skin conditioning oils to sooth the skin. Don’t you need something to get your feet in sandal shape? Big recommendation.

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre

Chanel-Chance-Eau-Tendre If you’re serious about your scents then you probably have a few favorites by CHANEL on your dressing table. Cristalle is my all time favorite and then comes Coco Mademoiselle. And the latest one Chance Eau Tendre ($65/1.7oz, $90/3.4oz @ sephora.com) and it’s moving up the ladder of approval right now. Developed by in house nose extraordinaire Jacques Polge, some are calling this more fruity floral the pink Chanel fragrance. This is the third Chance, after Chance Eau Fraîche and then Chance Eau de Toilette and this one seems more delicate and blossomy out of the three, if that makes any sense.

Here are the notes: grapefruit, quince, hyacinth, jasmine, amber, cedar, iris and white musk.

Will this one become as important as my beloved Cristalle? Only time will tell…

Budget Beauty with Maybelline New York

As you have noticed, I don’t take a lot of pictures of the products I write about. I feel more comfortable using stock photos but when I was looking online for a shot of MAYBELLINE NEW YORK’s Eye Studio Color Plus Eye Shadow Quad in Sapphire Siren, the photos I came across wouldn’t make anyone run out and buy this. The colors are just so flat looking and eh. See what I mean below? It’s a total case of it looks better in person.

Maybelline-Eyestudio-eyeshadow-in-Sapphire-Siren

All the colors are pretty shimmery but what I like is that the pigment seems to vary from color to color.  In the case of the Sapphire Siren palette shown here, from left you right, a shimmery white for under the brow and accenting around the eye area, teal and sapphire blue for the lid and black to line and contour. You can do a few different eye looks with just this quad as the colors are work nicely together. Choose from twelve different combos for $9.99 @ walgreens.com.

Spring Scents are Knocking at My Door

Which season excites you the most? I love the Christmas season, well, that’s not really a “season” per say so if I have to pick one, it has to be Spring. The colors the smells, it’s just exciting. To celebrate its arrival, I’ll be doing an on-going feature of some of my favorite scents that have come out recently that are really helping feel the season. Will you be picking any of these up for yourself?

Spring-Products-Lise-Waiter-Nivea-Caress-Hillhouse-Naturals-Fruits-&-Passion

FRUITS & PASSION Avocado Lip Balm ($5 @ fruitsandpassion.com) from the Nourishing Collection – Mmm, I love me some avocado this time of year and this balm has all good things for lips like Shea Butter and 10% avocado oil.

LISE WATIER
Folies Neiges Eau de Toilette Spray
($75/1.7oz @ lisewatier.com) – this may have come out last fall but the timing is so fitting right now! It showcases citrus notes, imbued with fruity, refreshing accents of orange and mandarin.

NIVEA
Touch of Sparkle Cream Oil Body Wash
($6.99/16.9oz @ walgreens.com) – I have just come to realize that I love the smell of the White Calla Blossom and this one is more than satisfying my desire. The name of the product makes it seem that it will leave behind some kind of shimmer or sparkle but I didn’t see any, which is probably better.

HILLHOUSE NATURALS
100% Soy Wax in Tin Candle
in Bloom ($12.50/5oz @ hillhousenaturals.com) – if you really need to set the mood on a warm evening, light this one to disperse the smell of water lilies, fresh bamboo, jasmine, teak and pure lotus flower. So lush!

CARESS Velvet Bliss Beauty Bar ($9.99/4-pack @ drugstores nationwide or target.com) – soap scents are getting creative these days. How about this combination of Blackberry and Vanilla Essence?? Lather, rinse, repeat. Lather, rinse, repeat …

Budget Beauty Mascara by CoverGirl

CoverGirl-Lashblast-Fusion-2 When it comes to mascara, I don’t think I am the best tester as all of them pale in comparison to this one. I tried the last COVERGIRL mascara and I just couldn’t get with the handle. The formula? It was ok but flaked off pretty quickly. I don’t know what they put in this new Lashblast Fusion Mascara ($8.99 @ ulta.com) but it scored pretty well! It’s built for volume and volume is what it gave with the help of small fibers. I again worry about the handle because it is taking me a few to the thicker than usual style they are hot on. The actual brush part that coats the lashes is also wider than most but we women can adapt! The bottom line is, if you need a budget-friendly mascara, this one will probably make you pretty happy.

A New Addition to the Hall of Fame - White Sands

White-Sands-Stuck-Up-styling-spray Trophy Do you ever really find a product you like and use it, have fun, etc, and then forget about it? A video I watched by rosebud143 reminded me of the WHITE SANDS line and this product that I wrote about a while ago. Since my hair is really getting long (well past my shoulders now), I’m able to curl it and go for the loose waves look more often and so I’ve been revisiting their Stuck-Up Mega Hold Styling Spray and I feel like I am discovering it for the first time! And I have not found one to do the same thing since. Imagine being able to apply your spray to your hair before applying the heat from a flat iron or curling iron. Such hold and it helps your curls last longer than they normally would and without looking crunchy.

I have two things going on with Stuck-Up – first is I am adding to the Hall of Fame – yes, it’s that good.

And second is, I have 10 cans to giveaway to you so enter below and good luck!

Is Shu Uemura's Essence Absolue All That?

Shu-Uemura-Art-of-Hair-Essence-Absolue SHU UEMURA Art of Hair Essence Absolue has pretty much taken the hair product world by storm. It’s sold out three times since it made its debut last fall and celebrity hair stylist like Chris McMillan are pretty gaga for it too. The secret ingredient to it is the Camellia Oil, which they call “liquid gold.” I knew this had to contain more than just Camellia Oil and I couldn’t seem to find the ingredient list on the packaging or their website so I trolled the Internet and finally found one it on makeupalley.com, go figure. Basically, it contains two common silicones (cyclopentsiloxane and dimethiconol) and ethylhexylmethoxycinnamate (sunscreen) and then fragrance ingredients (it does smell really nice. Maybe they’ll bottle it and sell it??) Like these, it seems like this is how these hair oils are put together – a majorly hair beneficial oil sandwiched between, so to speak, a few silicones. Now some peoples’ hair does not react well to silicones, like those with thin or fine strands. Mine reacts more than ok with it and it won't build up on hair.

Use this one as a pre-shampoo treatment, a finishing serum to add luster and shiner to hair or even to protect the hair from the sun this summer. And to answer the title, yes, it really is as great as they say it is. $65/5oz @ shuuemuraartofhair.com.
