How to Get the Bleeding Texture Look on Nails
I read last week that texture on nails was one of the big buzz words backstage at the shows a few weeks ago. It reminded me of something I achieve totally by accident the last time I wore artificial nails and was taking them off. So I decided to do it again to see what happens.
How about giving nails some texture with minimal effort that’s unique and different every time? It’s what I got when starting to remove REVLON Color Allure Medium Length Nails in Royalty ($7.99 @ walgreens.com) with KISS Artificial Nail Remover ($7 @ walgreens.com). I call this look Bleeding Texture Nails or Twilight Nails or … I don’t know. Let me know if you have a better name!
So here’s how to do it. Using the remover, soak your fingers with an artificial nail glued to each fingernail.
To get the look like the index finger wait until about 100 seconds. The pinkie look is after about 85 seconds (oops, that digit didn't make it into these two pics!).
A few things to keep in mind – once you’re past the 40 second mark and the color starts to breakdown check it every 5 to 10 seconds to see how fast it’s bleeding and know that it will continue bleeding some after you take it out of the remover bath. Also, the color veins retain some of the solution so make sure you allow sufficient time for your nails to fully dry. That way you retain the texture.
Top off with 1 or 2 clear top coats to help seal the design and you’re done!
Also, if nails are pulled out of the remover bath at the right time, you can retain most of the strength. And the longer the nail is, the more potential for weakness. I actually had the problem with the thumb nail in this picture so I cut it down shortly after this picture was taken. This look probably looks better on short nails anyway!
So what do you think? What colors do you think will look really cool with this effect?
That's so cool! The nails are grotesque for my taste but for the right occasion this can really work!

That's neat! It might be cool to try that with a black and silver.
