Should You Believe the Rosebud Salve Hype?

In the sea of beauty products out there, they have to have hype or they will float down the river with no sales. One that I had read about over and over but just didn’t want to believe the hype until now was SMITH’S Rosebud Salve. I picked it up as an impulse buy when I was getting some new glass nail files at Sephora a few weeks ago,Smith's-Rosebud-Salve and wow, it has totally become by goto balm. It’s made with Cottonseed Oil, essential oils and a really great light rose scent. In addition to lips, people also use it for cuticles, frizzy hair, brow hairs and more! Big recommendation. $6 @ ulta.com.

Hairs Next Big Trend - Macadamia Natural Oils

Macadamia-Healing-Oil-Treatment-1 We’re definitely on the brink of a new hair trend – oils, as in, using nourishing oils to keep hair healthy and here's a new one to sink your teeth, or rather strands, into.

MACADAMIA NATURAL OIL’s Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment ($36/1.5oz, $6/.35oz @ target.com) is taking center stage of this feature. The line came out this month and I really think it;s going to be garnering quite a few accolades.

What it is: combo of Macadamia Oil, Argan Seed Oil and special botanicals.

How it’s used: 1 to 2 pumps in damp hair or dry hair and even as an added nourishing kick in most hair treatments like coloring. This one will also help with frizz and UV protection. Big recommendation!

Quick Pick Lips w/L'Oreal

L'Oreal-Infallible-Plumping-in-Plumped-Tawny-2 L’OREAL Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss in Plumped Tawny ($9.99 @ target.com) is a tawny beige with just the slightest iridescent glimmer and has become my goto gloss when making my eyes the center of my look.

I tried some of these w/o the plumping when they came out and this new one contains a plumper that they say you will feel the tingling when applied. I didn’t feel anything nor did I notice any plumping. I was looking to this for color only and that’s what I got, which is fine with me!

And I gotta say, with all the crappy stiff, low quality, applicators out there, these angled heart-shaped ones are really pleasant. Thanks for the extra step, L’Oreal.

Color Supporting AND Vegan?? Yup, White Sands

White-Sands-Volumizing-Shampoo-and-Conditioner For some reason, when I’m in the supermarket and come across a can of baked beans, which I love, I always go for the vegan kind because in my mind, it will have less bad stuff for you inside. Is this true? Probably not but I can’t seem to shake this conclusion just short of sitting down with a vegan and non-vegan version in my hands and comparing ingredients. I’ll do that someday. So was I thinking this same notion when I was sent samples of WHITE SANDSVolumizing Shampoo and Volumizing Conditioner to try? Kinda. Ok, yes, I am. Probably not the smartest but maybe it is. This duo is 100% Vegan, sulfate free and silicone-free but let’s not confuse the word vegan with being natural. Vegan just means it contains no animal-derived ingredients inside. So this duo cleans and protects your color without using any kind of animal products in the formula. What else do you need to know? Shampoo ($12/7.6oz), Conditioner ($15/7.6oz) @ whitesandsproducts.com.

Gimme Life, Gimme Clinique

Clinique-Deep-Comfort-Hand-and-Cuticle-Cream I’ve always been a fan of the Deep Comfort creams and CLINIQUE just added a new one to the line up. I can’t help but think that this Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream ($17.50/2.6oz @ clinique.com) is just the formula that we’ve seen before repackaged and renamed. My cuticles take such a beating this time of year so I dove nails first into this one. And it’s winning me over but I had to look up the ingredients for the Deep Comfort Body Moisturizer and they are different, phew! This one has added in murumuru, meadowfoam seed oil, gentian root, chamomile and linoleic acid among others that whip nail and cuticles into shape.

Cor The Silver Wrinkle Serum

We loved the soap when it came out and now they are introducing a few more skin care products. I tried The Silver Wrinkle Serum ($120/1oz @ corsilver.com) and like the soap, this one harnesses the power of nano-silver with silica, which they claim speeds cell repair in the skin. In addition to that super ingredient, it also contains Copper Tri-Peptides and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide. The PP molecule has shown that it can  imitate the skin’s natural rebuilding and renewal process. And they assure that this ingredient is gentle on the skin, so if your skin is sensitive to most serums because of the super ingredients used, this may be one to try.

Cor-Silver-Wrinkle-Serum

Now this next key ingredient it contains is quite fascinating. It’s called Acetyl Hexapeptide and is an amino peptide that they claim mimics the effects of Botox but without paralyzing the muscle and in a much lesser form. I’ll say it again, it just relaxes the muscles, so don’t go all runnin’ out to get yerself boxes of this stuff because it’s cheaper!

MAC Love Lace Collection

MAC Love Lace – Described as, “Couture’s fascination with lace is a long love affair. Intensely intimate, our newest collection captures lace’s notoriety and allure.”

Overall impression? Ehhh, a little boring, if you ask me. To go from In Lillyland to this is, wow, quite a difference. A running theme of pale grey taupe is common with a few of the items but it looks best on nails. This color on nails will be a strong trend this season.

We’ve got some ground to cover with MAC. They have a few collections out right now so we will cover one each day for the next few days. So let’s get to it!

MAC Warm & Cozy – described as, “Cuddle up, cozy down, chill out. Beauty succumbs to the most sensuous and luxurious essentials. Dim the lights, and relax in the soft candlelight of this season's most mellowed-out shades. Be Warm & Cozy."
