Great Conditioner Doesn't Have To Break the Bank

Klorane-Untangling-Conditioning-Balm I’m pretty hardcore when it comes to testing out hair conditioners. If one claims detangle, it better get every single tangle out of my hair or it goes in the trash. One that surprised me with its great detangling ability and price is KLORANE’s Conditioning Balm with Mango Butter ($14/5.07oz @ ulta.com). As JJ Walker would say, “d-y-n-o-m-i-t-e!” This one contains two key ingredients, Mink Oil and mango butter, which nourish your hair and scalp AND somehow magically get every tangle out.

And this one doesn’t take 20 or 30 minutes to work. Simply towel dry your hair, apply a small and wait 2 to 3 minutes and rinse. Big recommendation.

Not All Liners Are Created the Same

I’ve come across many “bleeech!* eye liners in my lifetime so when I find a good one, I hold it dear. Here are three that rock my socks.

Liners

1. GIELLA Custom Blended Eye Pencil in Slate ($25 @ giella.com)

2. NAPOLEON PERDIS NP Set Eyeliner in Dubai ($19 @ target.com)

3. POP BEAUTY Cat Eyes in Black Olive ($16 @ dermstore.com)

Eve Lom Sure Gives A Thorough Cleansing

Eve-Lom-Cleanser

EVE LOM = totally luxury and I finally had a chance to try some products in the line. For the past two weeks, I have been using the Cleanser ($95/3.3oz, $160/6.8oz @ spacenk.com) to clean my face and take off makeup at the end of each day. And I gotta say … wow! I really like it the texture of this one. Usually I test a face product for at least a month before I decide how I like it but this was an easy one. It’s made up of four aromatic oils to clean and decongest the skin and it’s quite the favorite in the UK. This one does contain a few ingredients that some can be sensitive to: lanolin, clove and eucalyptus so do a spot test.

Luxe Face Creams

Let’s get serious about facial moisturizers. Look in the mirror and ask yourself, “Do I look older than I should?” What you need are some miracle creams. I mean, they are and will always be, a serious business and we’re in the depth of when skin needs a good one most. Here’s two that have us shaking in our boots with excitement.

0

3Lab-and-Adorage3LAB “M” Cream ($250/2oz @ 3lab.com) – contains stem cells from a rare Swiss apple to slow down the aging process of stressed out skin. It also contains the world’s first bioengineered growth hormone-like product, that works as “a hormone replacement therapy,” that substitutes what is loss in the skin as we age. Makes sense.

ADORAGE Retinol Cream ($150/1oz @ adoragemd.com)  - this one combines retinols and glycolic acid to put collagen production into overdrive. This one also works on lightening brown spots, preventing acne and contains nourishing antioxidants to balance the skin.

Try One of These Essie's On for Size

Essie-Winter-Collection We’re full on into 2009 but economically speaking, things are not much better. They say lipstick sales go up when we’re in a recession but I ask, what about nail polish sales? ESSIE latest Winter Collection are bold colors that each seem to stand on their own. It was hard to pick faves out of these but this Mini 4 Piece Set ($18 @ macys.com) holds 4 of them: Sexy Divide (electric violet), Bold & Beautiful (rich, ruby garnet), It’s Genius (violet quartz shimmer) and Rock Star Skinny (crimson red).

Aveda Enhances Your Color

Aveda-Clove-Shampoo I always use a shampoo made for color treated hair but how about one made to not only support but enhance your hair color? AVEDA Vintage Clove Shampoo ($10/8oz @ aveda.com) is made for those with brunette and honey blonde tones. The formula is infused with organically grown clove and coffee, which I’m assuming since they are both brown, are perfect for these tones!

And did you know this was the first product ever created for the Aveda line 30 years ago? Quality never goes outta style.

Quick Pick Eyes – Mineral Essence

Mineral-Essence-24k I wore MINERAL ESSENCE’s Shimmer in 24k ($16 @ dermstore.com) on New Year’s Eve and wow, how festive and spicy was this shade to wear! It has gold shimmer to the max and because the formula is made from minerals, it blends really well and this one really puts the focus on the eyes.
