A Lush Face Pick-Me-Up

Lush-Imperialis-Moisturizer I’m bored with my face lotion. I have been using the same one for the past month since it’s been kinda cold out here on the west coast and I’m just board with it. Hanging out in the “to try” bin was LUSH’s Imperialis Moisturizer ($21.35/1.5oz @ lush.com) and this seemed to not only perk my skin up but also my mood.

And I love that their website explains the ingredients for the novice. It can be kinda confusing when reading an ingredient list, right? Here’s an interesting tidbit – if your skin is dry, the lavender inside this cream supposedly encourages the skin to produce more natural oils and vice versa. I should note here that this one is made for combo skin so if you have oily skin, I’ve read that it is too heavy for those types so you may want to sit this one out.

Kenzo Gives Us THE Winter Fragrance

Kenzo-Amour There’s nothing like a rich fragrance for this time of year. There’s something about that fits the cold weather and really makes it stand out. Like a wool pair of socks, KENZOAmour le Parfum ($68/1oz, $88/1.7oz @ sephora.com) will come out in late October and be packed away with the winter clothes in about late February. It was inspired by all things far east - the packaging and the ingredients. To say this is a woody oriental would be an understatement. Just look at these thick lush notes – top: rice, frangipani middle: amber and patchouli and base: vanilla and benzoin (a balm only found in a tree location in Southeast Asia). And I would really only recommend this for evenings; it’s that bold. And the sleek bottle? The shape is inspired by the temples of Southeast Asia and the rich matte gold color by the offerings made to the deities. This makes a beautiful looking scupture on top of your dressing table. For serious fragrance lovers only!

Russian Sign Language With Chanel

Chanel-Moscow-Collection These three CHANEL Nail Colours ($30 @ chanel.com) were created especially for a Moscow Fashion Show. Each of these was created with a black base and then a different color of sparkle was added to each: Or de Russie (gold), Nuit de Russie (blue), Feu de Russie (red). While $30 may be, or rather, is a steep price for a nail polish, know that this one stays on longer than most lacquers. The glitter inside acts as a toughening agent assuring your manicure will last longer than usual.

Turn-It-Around With Clinique

Clinique-Turnaround-Instant-Facial CLINIQUE’s new Turnaround Instant Facial Masque ($36.50/2.5oz @ clinique.com) is meant to give you the results of a microdermabrasion’s smoothness and radiance in all of 5 minutes. Hmmmm, seems like a pretty steep promise but I guess if you can get the formula right, it is possible, and I am happy to report that it is. What I like about this scrub is that because the morsels are so tiny, it feels like I am able to get into every nook and cranny around my face. Nose? No problem! Behind the ears? Easy with this one. And I am able to give my eyebrows a good scrub, which I love to do. Here’s the skinny – it’s formulated with patent-pending technology and uses physical and chemical exfoliation. Some of the ingredients are: Chestnut Extract and Salicylic Acid and others. This 5-minute mask can be used up to 3 times a week, depending on your skin type. Loves it!

I have the Turnaround Radiance Peel Once-A-Week System on deck to try and will let you know if it’s worth it.

Visit Paris With Your Hands

Payot-Hand-Cream-for-site For some reason my hands have been extra dry this month and I don’t know why. Here in LA it’s not unseasonably cold, quite the opposite. So I’m glad I have PAYOT Nourishing Softening Hand Cream ($23/2.5oz @ skin1.com) on hand (pun intended). Maybe it’s the sweet almond extract or the Shea Butter or jojoba seed oil inside? Or the combo of them together with the other ingredients? I don't know. All I do know is that it seeps in quickly and totally non-greasy. And I love that it has that classic scent like only real French products have.

By Goodness, By Terry!

Did you know that the Founder of the BY TERRY line, Terry de Gunzburg, is the one responsible for cult favorite Touché Éclat from YSL? ‘Tis a fact! So you can already guess I am totally fascinated by her line. The latest product she’s come out with, among others,By Terry is the Light-Expert Foundation Brush ($48 @ dermstore.com). From the picture here, it looks like the shades are all colors but you’d be surprised on how they make your skin look. Each is going to bring out a different glow on different tones so keep that in mind. I don’t know how to determine which would work best for you from just looking online so I would just email them as they should be able to guide you.

I have an olive complexion and the Golden Light I used really gave my skin a light coverage and overall radiance boost. The formula contains hyaluronic acid filling spheres, which from what I can gather, claims to plump the skin and smooth away wrinkles. Hmmm, I didn’t notice that happening but maybe it did and that’s why I didn’t notice it!

I also read that this one is best if you have dry to normal skin. Oily types? Stay away.

And because the product has a built-in the brush, I don’t feel like I am wasting any of it if I don’t use it all from one pump. Simply put that cap back on and it will stay fresh. So dab, dab, dab, around the face and then blend, blend, blend. Radiance, here I come!
