Nourishing Skin Care From the French

Patyka-Demaquillant-Intense Lately I’ve been using the hard stuff to clean and remove my makeup at the end of the day. What is it exactly? Cold cream. But for some reason I have not been liking it as much as I usually do. So in my quest for something lighter but just as good, I got lucky with the French brand, PATYKA’s, Biokaliftin Demaquillant Intense ($42/3.38oz @ revolve.com). This is an organic cosmeceutical line and their products carry the ECOCERT stamp so they never use any synthetics or fillers. This is probably the purest brand I've come across this year. This cleanser is formulated with over 86% certified organic plant extracts including rose floral water (which you can smell), cornflower extract, sesame seed oil and palmarosa extract, to name a few. While it didn’t leave my face as dewy as the cold cream, it felt hydrated and not tight at all. I’ve gone to bed sans night cream every night this week and my skin doesn’t seem to be suffering (parched) each morning.

Alima Pure Goes Hollywood

Let’s get down and dirty with the latest from ALIMA PURE. I was recently introduced to this line of mineral makeup and so far, I am liking it. The colors are pretty rich and all of them have been totally wearable. Not a sour one in the bunch! Let’s look at a few collections they are putting out for the holidays, a tribute to the sirens of the silver screen.

Alima-Pure-Act-1

Take care of your eyes with Act I with Eye Shadows - Lana (creamy pink shimmer), Ingrid (pearly taupe), Ava (silver), Bette (velvety blue with a hint of silver). Wear one, two or all four at once to create a sexy smoky eye look.

Alima-Pure-Act-II

Act II helps you get the most outta cheeks with a Blush and two highlighters – Harlow (pearl highlighter), Garbo (matte brown to create depth), Leigh (neutral rose with hint of copper shimmer).

Each collection is on $25 and $2 from each sale is donated to the Global Fund for Women. Love that!

L'Oreal Knows Skin Care

L'Oreal-Revitalift I seem to shy away from cleansers that have the consistency of that of a lotion. It just seems more suitable for, well, a lotion instead of a cleanser. But I think this L’OREAL RevitaLift Radiant Cream Cleanser ($6.99/5oz) has changed my mind. Though it doesn’t foam, which I am so used to at this stage in life, it’s not thin like other cream-like cleansers. And for the price, you just can’t beat it! Check out the L’Oreal store at walgreens.com for all the other products in the RevitaLift collection, like the Radiant Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes ($6.69/30 towels). They’re a dream when you’re on the road.

Bliss Kicks It With A Unique Scent

Bliss-Bath-+-Shower-Gel Think of the scents orange and white pepper. Doesn’t seem very pleasant and that you’d just be sneezing a lot but they seemed to balance the ingredients outs perfectly to come up with a winning combo. BLISS Blood Orange + White Pepper scents is rocked in a Body Butter ($35/8.5oz), Bath + Shower Gel ($24/8.5oz), and Sugar Scrub ($36/11oz) so you have a nice choice. Still need it broken down? Think of blood orange mixted with top notes of coriander and white musk. So you're first greeted with the top notes and left with a familiar orange citrus. Totally comforting. And this scent won their own ‘eau’ lection in 2008. 40,000+ votes can’t be wrong! All @ blissworld.com.

Not Your Typical Flower

Kenzo-Flower-by-Kenzo I’m trying to decide if I’m a fragrance push over, in that, it seems like I am loving a lot of different fragrances that have come out this year. Well actually, let me rethink that, I didn’t like the new Chanel No. 5 scent. It smells like dish detergent on me! Not the usual fan of the powdery fragrances, but I am really loving this KENZO fragrance. FLOWER BY KENZO Eau de Parfum Spray ($85/3.3oz @ bloomingdales.com) is a floral notes like violet and rose mixed with white musk and vanilla. An unual mixture to be called a floriental but it is and it has quite a following. It’s a little heavy so I recommend this one for eves.

Bethesda Breaks New Ground With the Sun

Sunscreen is showing up in everything these days, which is good. Lipsticks, lotions and even mineral makeup has it. But here’s a new form – soap! I think this is the world’s first – BETHESDA SKIN CARE has created a Sunscreen Body Bar ($8/4.5oz) and it has a SPF 10. Like all of the products in the line, the founder Bethesday-Sunscreen-Soap created this one out of necessity. Luckily she schooled herself in chemisty and skin rehabilitation and all of the products are homemade so they have a dash of love in each not to mention over 50 vitamins! And she is expanding the line to lotions, toners and even haircare soon. So check back on bethesdaskincare.com in the coming months.
