Skinceuticals Delivers the Latest In Anti-Aging

Cult favorite SKINCEUTICALS has just added a new product their line and it’s leading the way in a new wave of antioxidants. Rather, the main ingredient is one that is leading the way. Phlorentin CF ($150/1oz @ skinceuticals.com) is theSkinceuticalscf_2 result of 5 years of research and the main ingredient, Phloretin, is a newly discovered powerful molecule found in the root bark of fruit trees like apple and pear and is anti everything – fungal, cancer, viral, inflammatory. The unique molecular structure makes this one very potent. The patent-pending technology behind this one combines the Phloretin with vitamin C and Ferulic Acid (another well-known antioxidant) and is not only able to protect against free radicals but also against cell mutation and DNA damage. Whoa. So this is some pretty advanced stuff! I could go on and on with all the mumbo-jumbo literature but I think you get the picture and I am recommending this one if you are interested in using the latest technologically developed anti-aging product.

New Hair Trend – Glossing at Home

We love seeing a trend come down the pike, especially one that is newish. This one? Hair glossing and the yeahs and nahs seem to be mixed from what I’ve read on other blogs with course hair types seeming to have the best results. However, mine is not course and I had pretty great results overall. So I guess in this case, you should probably try it to see if it will work for you.

Here are three I recommend from L to R:

Kenpavesclairoljohnfrie

KEN PAVES Boost Up Color Drops ($39.95/.96oz @ hsn.com) is more of a color boost and this one enhances the sheen and adds gloss. Add a few drops to your conditioner and this one can take a few uses to give you that boost. Choose from 5 different shade enhancers, from Brown to Blonde and Red.

JOHN FRIEDA Clear Shine Luminous Color Glaze ($9.99/6.5oz @ amazon.com) – this one smells just like the one my hairdresser used to use on my hair but this one costs a lot less. Apply to totally dry hair for 20 minutes and rinse.

CLAIROL Nice’n Easy Colorseal Weekly Conditioning Gloss ($4.59/1.96oz @ drugstores nationwide) – weekly treatment for those that color our hair. Use this one in placement of your regular conditioner.

Spornette Sure Knows Hair!

SpornetteitaliancollectioWe @ Cybelesays have tried many-a hairbrush. Think about it. You got your paddle, round, boars hair, plastic bristle and on and on. And for styling? Each aforementioned style seems to get their day in the sun, or rather, under the dryer but this one from SPORTNETTE’s Italian collection is really taking the cake right now. And it’s so basic it’s scary. It combines all the good qualities that make for a good round styling hairbrush – smooth surfaced handle with no places to catch your hair, bristled hourglass shape that helps hold the hair and prevent tangles. And this one uses boars hair bristles reinforced with nylon bristles. The Italian collection is part of the new Concavia collection and there are three sizes to choose from. For overall styling I like the 3” barrel diameter size of #855 ($24) but the smaller 2 ¼” #854 ($20) and 2” #856 ($19) ones are for those with shorter hair and if you are pretty good at wielding them around. Any of these will help bring the pro out of you! All @ spornette.com

New Addition To the Hall of Fame!

Trophy2 I have a confession and it’s hard to admit this amongst us beauty product lovers but here goes. MAC makes my head spin. There I said. I can’t keep up with the collections. Every time I turn around they are putting out yet another collection. With other brands, they seem to only put out a new collection each season, and that’s almost hard enough given all the lines out there. How does MAC do it?

With that said, I hope you can see how I missed their Pro Longwear Lipcolors when they came out a while ago. I totally thought their sister product, Pro Longwear Lip Colour, were a brand new concept to the line. Duh! Not! Anyway, I loved the shades in the Lustre Twins’ collection that just came out and they have pretty much ruined me for any other lip colors or lipsticks these days. I compare everything else to their staying power! They stay on for many hours and don’t flake off or budge. I think the secret is to let the color fully dry on the lips before applying the gloss. So please help me welcome a product that really deserves this honor, MAC Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolor, welcome to the Hall of Fame!

Benefit Cosmetics Gives Instant Brows

BenefitinstanteyebrowpenI’m pretty brow obsessed. It all started last century when I moved from Boston to Los Angeles a decade ago. I’d had never even thought of waxing or tweezing or really doing anything to my eyebrow area. Somehow, my outlook changed when I landed in LA. I suddenly became interested in cleaning them up and have been waxing them ever since. I also tried threading recently but I don’t think I’ll be continuing that. A co-worker worded me up that they were completely uneven and one was thinner than the other … oh they’re a mess right now. So while I try and figure out how my “wax or tweeze” future looks, I at least have one thing down when it comes to that area and that’s product for them! As I mentioned before more than a few times, I always go too dark when it comes to using the right color pencil or powder. This new BENEFIT COSMETICS Instant Eyebrow Pencil in Light to Medium ($20 @ nordstrom.com) has color on one end and a spoolie on the other to work it in and it’s for sure not too dark for my medium brunette hair color. It’s actually a little lighter than my hair, which is good since that makes it goof-proof.

For What My Hair Needs

Here are three that are keeping our strands tameable this month:Charlesworthingtonthermaf_2

  1. CHARLES WORTHINGTON Hair Healer Leave-In Conditioner ($5.99/6.75oz @ target.com) for when I know I’ve stressed my strands out and they need some extra TLC.
  2. THERMAFUSE Fixxe Volume Moussse ($13/7.5oz @ thermafuse.com) for I know that big hair is in this fall and I just have to partake in the trend.
  3. AUSSIE Opposites Attract Strong Hold + Touchable Feel Spray Gel, Strong Hold ($3.99/6.8oz @ walgreens.com) for when I’m wearing my hair wavy or curlier than usual and want it to stay in past 11am. And no crunch!

Infallible Lip Gloss from L'Oreal

This is a gloss I had heard about and finally got to try out. What sealed the deal for me was a glowing review on another blog. L’OREAL Infallible Never Fail Lip Gloss ($9.99 @ ulta.com) really does last quite a long time.Lorealinfallible_2 They claim 6 hours but I wouldn’t go that far. But what I would go out on a limb to say is that is lasted a couple of hours and that’s good enough for me when it comes to a lip gloss.

What I also like is the heart-shaped application sponge. The bottom is flat so it hugs my lips, which I like. Hopefully they will use this design in more of their glosses. Color picks: Rebel Red, Nude, Raisin.
