Love Your Body, Now Love Your Hair with Dove

I swear styling products should be by prescription only. I gotta find me a class or something – Hair Styling 101. I just can’t seem to ever get it the way I want! But when it comes to cleaning, DOVE keeps it real, as in real women, as we’ve seen. I’m impressed that they have taken this stance and now they are going one step further and into the hair territory. We all want Hollywood Hair but as this video shows, it takes a lot of time and money and frankly, it’s pretty unrealistic. I think I’ll just stick with giving it my best shot.

DovesOne thing I think I have a good grip on is shampoos and conditioners. DOVE Cool Moisture Shampoo and Cool Moisture Conditioner, both in the Cucumber & Green Tea scent, are very gentle to the hair and that smell, I can’t get enough. This duo is not for those who color treat their strands. $7.99/25.4oz each @ target.com.

Fall Color Pick - Mossy Green

I consider greens, as in mossy greens, a very neutral color. They are so earthy, warm and natural that they could take the place of nudes in most cases. Olive, tarragon, and the creatively named products below, all make up our 2nd Fall Color Pick, Mossy Green.
The way I’m thinking about this piece is if I were to paint a picture of moss using different shades and textures, which ones would I use? Here are our picks to make up our portrait:

Cranberry Never Felt So Good!

Arcona_2How many times has your best friend complained to you about her large pores? Next time she opens her mouth about it, tell her about ARCONA Cranberry Gommage ($42/3.4oz @ nordstrom.com). This one uses enzymes to clean, exfoliate and tone the skin and really get into those pores to clean them out. As with any scrub for the face, don’t overdue it and strip your skin. It’s recommended for use a few times a week.

Diesel Helps Kick Start Your Life

Dieselsss_3Imagination, memories, fantasy – fragrances can conjure up a vast array of emotions. Tap into your edgy feminine side with DIESEL’s new ‘Fuel for Life’ Femme Spray ($49.50/1.7oz). Notes include florals, jasmine, black pepper, fresh black currant and a base of musk. And the crocheted lace case around the bottle is a really nice touch. Hold on, there’s one for the men too. ‘Fuel for Life’ Homme Spray ($44.50/1.7oz) is definitely masculine. It is top notes of anise and grapefruit, middle notes of raspberry and lavender and base notes of heliotrope and dry woods. This one is encased in a tough guy canvas-type cloth that reminds me of a canteen. Both available in Shower Gel, After Shave (men) and Body Lotion @ macys.com.

MD To The Rescue

MdskincaressssWhy am I amazed with serums? Probably because they are concentrated forms of age fighting ingredients and incorporate the latest in technology. We previewed the addition of MD SKINCARE’s Hydra-Pure serums line back in July and we were finally able to try some out. My pick of the litter right now is the Antioxidant Firming Serum ($95/1oz @ dermstore.com). With the season changing, my skin has been looking a little sullen and well, bored. This one contains 14 collagen-building ingredients and uses the same delivery system as their Body Cream, Hydra-Pure Chelating Complex. Since we’re not really about listing complex ingredients that only confuse the average beauty buff, we’ll just say that this one delivers what it says – a boost the overall appearance of the skin and wrinkles. Isn’t that all we want out of life anyway?

Been There. Done That.

In a way, I envy models. They are able to try just about every kind of makeup available in the world. In the WORLD! So they know the Holy Grail products and the clunkers. Sucking up all this knowledge up is what led former Maybelline New York spokes model to create JOSIE MARAN COSMETiCS. Her new eco-conscious cosmeticsJosieduo line contains everything you need and nothing you don’t. From Concealer to Lip Gloss and everything in between. My pick of the litter is her Lipstick ($18) in the creamy pink shade of Flirtatious. It really moisturizes and glides over lips. My other pick is the Pressed Powder ($30) in Natural. Not too cake-y and it gives a smooth natural finish.
And each rose-colored metallic case is made of corn based plastic, recycled aluminum or glass. I like that she goes the extra mile. Look for more features on this very wearable line. The site was supposed to be available in September so check back often @ josiemarancosmetics.com
