Say What Serum

Skinceuticals SKINCEUTICALS has a huge line of face-saving products. The super star of the week for me is the Serum 15 AOX. It’s formulated with15% L-Ascorbic Acid with Ferulic Acid. Huh? Simply stated, this is a very potent serum to apply to your face and neck before your moisturizer and it’s formulated for all skin types. It’s high in anti-oxidants with great anti-aging benefits. It also helps protect against damaging UVA/UVB rays and stimulates collagen production. And as an added bonus, I noticed that my makeup goes on a lot smoother too after using it. All that from this tiny bottle? Gotta get ya some, gals! $75/1oz @ amazon.com. ~Lisa

File This: The Most Unique Product EVER

Peach-nut-oil-liquid-soapThe C.O. BIGELOW Peach Nut Oil Liquid Soap ($15 @ bigelowchemists.com) is an 18-in-1 soap not just for the shower. The formula doesn’t give a lot of lather and you have to use quite a bit to cleanser but that's not a problem since the bottle is a big 7.5oz. And the scent? A really light hint of peach that isn’t overpowering or un-natural smelling.

Here’s the interesting part - Not only can it be used for both the body and hair, but other parts as well. As in, other parts of the house! Straight from the label on the bottle, and I quote, “laundry, floor cleaning (floor cleaning??), jewelry cleaning, stovetops, car washing, boat washing, and the strangest one, surf board washing.

Now when anyone tries to tell me about a great all-in-one? I’ll just mention this one and case closed.

Earth Angel by Thierry Mugler

Thierry2_2I have been a fan of THIERRY MUGLER’s Angel perfume for many, many years.  It’s proven itself to be a timeless fragrance. The signature silver star top and crystal bottle makes a statement on your dresser, but was always hard to hide in a small purse. Now they’ve made it easier to make this dreamy fragrance portable. In case you’ve never tried it, let me tempt you with the ingredients: Honey, Vanilla, Chocolate and Caramel with a top note of Patchouli. Fab!

To commemorate the 15-year anniversary of Angel, check out the new limited edition Eau de Parfum Purse Spray. More good news – just like the larger sizes, this bottle is refillable. How could it be easier? $45/.33oz @ sephora.com. ~Lisa

Sun-Sational Sunscreen from Jack Black

Is there such a thing as gender bias sunscreen? A sunscreen that works better on males than females? Hmmm… I’d like to take a pole to see Jackblackhow many men wear sunscreen on a daily basis. Probably not that many but quite a few new men’s grooming lines are cropping up every year so there has to be a demand. From a line that's been around for a long time and will conquer your man’s sun issues is JACK BLACK's Sun Guard Oil-Free Very Water/Sweat Resistant Sunscreen SPF30 ($16/4oz @ dermstore.com) from the Black Diamond Formula Sun Protection collection. It’s oil-free and like the name conveys, contains the new FDA approved sunscreen/anti-aging ingredient Parsol 1789, and made for very extreme conditions. I’m thinking Mohave dessert extreme. They claim the SPF will last 80 minutes after your mate has come out of the water. I would have loved to see that focus group experiment! So, like his deodorant and razor, I will be coveting this one too.

Sun-Believable With Bliss

Bliss-a-tan-for-all-seasonsI happen to be a naturally pale girl with a love for the bronzed look. So, one could say that I’m a big fan of self-tanners. I have tried almost all of them searching for the ideal consistency, even fading, with a flawless natural look. This new one from BLISS, A Tan For All Seasons ($34/4.40z @ blissworld.com), is one of the closest products I’ve used to obtain the ideal tint. The first thing I noticed was the color of the product right out of the can. Most self-tanners have an orange hue to its product, giving your skin a final output of that orangey look, which screams “tan out of a can”. This one comes out of the can with a purple tint, which at first made me nervous, but ended up drying to a warm, brown bronze. I loved the easy to spray method with its instant color to help create flawless coverage.
Another quality I look for in a self tanner is the final color staying on your skin and not seeping onto your clothing. This product dries quickly and didn’t budge thorough out the day!

My only warning with this product is to make sure that you wash your hands as quickly as possible or use gloves because it took about 3 washes with scrubber to get the color completely off the inside of my hands. My end thought was, I found my new self tanner, and as they say, it’s sun-believable.

Scents of Summer

MANGIACOTTI FLORALS really goesMag out of their way to include special touches with their products, both inside and out. Every ingredient inside is based on essential oils, vegetable bases and other naturals ingredients. And since most are preservative free, you probably shouldn’t store them for too long after opening. That won’t be hard with their new Shea Butter Lotion in orange's cousin, Clementine ($19.75/9.4oz). This is such a fun fragrance! How many products come in the Clementine scent? It contains the aforementioned skin nourishing Shea butter and the scents lasts quite a while on my skin. And if you want to bring a little beauty into the kitchen they also have a Clementine Liquid Kitchen Soap ($16.95/12oz). This is a line worth checking out. Both @ mangiacottiflorals.com.

What Works? This Works!

ThisworksOk, that was an obvious title but I couldn’t resist because THIS WORKS really works! The line is based out of London and was created by two former beauty industry veterans. Each product is formulated using 100% natural and raw materials and the ingredients are imported from all over the world. The line is a little pricey but remember you are paying for the quality of the ingredients and each product is preservative-free so no mass production here.
My pick from the line this week is the Energy Bank Bath and Shower Gel ($35/6.7oz @ net-a-porter.com). It contains no SLS’s and uses a blend of Ylang Ylang from Madagascar, Geranium is sourced China and Sandalwood from India to help bring the world to a standstill, if only for a moment. Ahhhh …
