Cybelesays Special Report - IMATS Comes To Town!

The big International Makeup Artist and Trade Show (IMATS) was this past weekend and this show just gets bigger and better every year. I mean, I went twice about 6 or 7 years ago and it was just boring and barren but for the last 3 years, it has more hip brands than ever and it always sells out.

So who was there and what did I see and buy? Click after the jump and be prepared for a lot of pictures!

Give A Surprise To Your Eyes

Eyeliners

Surprise your eyes with a liner like blue or grey. They’re a nice alternative to the everyday black. Here's a few we recommend.

  1. LISE WATIER Eye Shine in Marine ($16 @ lisewatier.com)

  2. JOSIE MARAN Eye Liner in Charcoal ($18 @ sephora.com)

  3. KORRES Eyeliner Pencil in Gray 6 ($16 @ sephora.com)

  4. GLOMINERALS gloPrecision Eye Pencil in Twilight Blue ($16 @ glominerals.com)

  5. YOUNGBLOOD Eye Liner Pencil in Slate ($11 @ ybskin.com)

Powder Pick-Me-Up With Youngblood Cosmetics

I heard about a great way to get the most out your bronzer – sculpt a number three on each side of your face. Ok, here’s what I mean: swirl some bronzer on a medium sized face brush, like the Highlighting Brush from SONiA KASHUK ($12.99 @ Target stores). The bristles are spread further apart towards the tip so you’ll get a light application and can build it up. Depending on how much control you like to have the SHU UEMURA 7.5EXG ($35 @ shuuemura.com) goat-haired brush is also a good one. The fan-ness of this one really grazes features for a soft look and the handle maneuvers nicely. Next, start just above your temple/brow in front of the hair line and make a number three on the right side and a backwards three on your left side. Using this method seems to hit just the right places, including the cheeks, for a fresh look. One bronzer great for this technique is YOUNGBLOOD’s Mineral Radiance ($39 @ ybskin.com). Choose from three different color compacts. I like Splendor and Sundance with the four colors that allow you to really sculpt the area for a naturally healthy finish.

Cheeky Minerals

Remember last year when I promised to pay more attention to blushes and wear them more frequently? Well, I didn’t really meet the challenge. So, I’m hoping to renew my passion with all things blush. Here are three mineral ones to get me and you excited again and remember to use a light hand when applying. L to R counterclockwise:

MineralblushesMIESSENCE ORGANICS Mineral Blush Powder in Ginger Blossom Silk ($24.50 @ chooseorganics.com)

YOUNGBLOOD Pressed Mineral Blush in Nectar ($23 @ ybskin.com)
LAURA MERCIER Mineral Cheek Powder in Coral ($22 @ sephora.com)

I’m On The Minerals And Can’t Get Off

Youngblood_3All foundations seem to pale in comparison since I discovered mineral makeup a few years ago. It’s easy and quick to apply and really looks natural. I’ve only come across one other liquid mineral foundation, Illuminare, and I loved it, so I was really open to this liquid one from YOUNGBLOOD. Their Liquid Mineral Foundation just came out and it is infused with Reduced Salt Deep-Sea Water and also Calendula, Cucumber and Green Tea to name a few. Let’s talk about what you see and feel.

See = nothing

Feel = nothing

Like it’s supposed to, it really does feel like I don’t have anything on my face and it evens out my skin tone beautifully. So I guess you could say I'm going au-natural! $39.95/1oz @ ybskin.com
