Review+Swatches - Tarte LipSurgence Lip Gloss

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with lip gloss. While I love the look of a nice glossy colored lip, I don’t always like the feel. Some make me feel like my lips are suffocating. Does this happen to you? I’ve mentioned it here a few times but I do have to say, these TARTE COSMETICS LipSurgence Lip Gloss ($19 @ tartecosmetics.com and sephora.com) DO. NOT. SUFFOCATE! This is an extremely important issue for me. Like if I’m wearing gloss or testing one out, if I can constantly feel it on my lips, I’ll usually not wear that one again, which is why I tend to review more lipsticks on the site.

What I’m Loving Right … Now!

What-I'm-Loving-Right-...-Now!
Face Love
- JOUER COSMETICS Essentials Matte Touch ($26 @ jouercosmetics.com) – It’s officially the season of shiny faces, so make sure you carry a translucent mattifier with you at all times. This one from Jouer really absorbs oil and contains good-for-skin ingredients like vitamins C, D & E and Willow Bark Extract.

Wipe Love - TARTE ‘Fresh Eyes’ Maracuja Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Wipes ($12/30 wipes @ tartecosmetics.com) – I love me some face wipes and it was only a matter of time before our tarte friends came out with some. These combine maracuja with fruit extracts to fully remove makeup and nourish the skin.

Body Love - THE GRAPESEED CO Custom Lotion in Mama’s Blend ($22/8oz @ grapeseedco.com) – While I prefer a body oil to a lotion these days, I’m simply loving this lotion in grapeseed, aloe & coconut! And it’s made with quality ingredients. Make your own custom lotion with their rich vinotherapy body lotion and you can even choose your own name and bottle color.

Hair Love - PUREOLOGY ‘Strength Cure’ Restorative Masque ($50/5.2oz @ pureology.com on where to buy) – No matter what month the calendar says, my strands always seems in need of a hair mask. This latest mask from one of my favorite hair care lines fortifies strands with Asta-Repair including Astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant, which  reduces breakage of micro-scarred/damaged color-treated hair.

Fragrance Love - NOMAD TWO WORLDS Wild Fire EDP from the Raw Spirit Collection ($35/7.5ml rollerball @ nomadtwoworlds.com) – this warm scent pays tribute to one of the founder’s native land of Australia with sandalwood, creamy amber along with ylang ylang, jasmine on a base of musk and cedarwood. Really nice.

5 Favorite … Moisturizers

All areas of the body need moisture now. Here are some of my favorites!

5-Favorite-...-Moisturizers-Phyrra-Pretty-Little-Elixir-Rituals-Tatcha-Kiehls-tarte-cosmetics

Hair - PHYRRA Pretty Little Elixir Hair Masque ($39.99/8oz @ phyrrahair.myshopify.com) – who knows hair better than someone who puts it through the ringer like fellow beauty blogger, Courtney from Phyrra does? She just came out with a major hair mask and I couldn’t recommend it more! Pretty Little Elixir is  cruelty-free and will snap your strands back in shape no matter how harshly you treat it. And I recommend you use it with this product

Hands - TATCHA Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream ($38/2oz @ tatcha.com) – your hands are out in the elements a lot in the cold months, so give them some TLC with this nourishing cream. It uses the stems, leaves and petals of the Indigo plant to calm sensitive skin due to the cold, dermatitis, eczema and even rosacea.

Face - KIEHL’S Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque ($35/4.2oz @ kiehls.com) – help your skin retain the extra moisture it needs to be fed during these burrrrr months by using this face masque. It’s a 10-minuter that will help your regular moisturizer work overtime.

Eyes - TARTE Maracuja C-Brighter Eye Treatment Cream ($38/.35oz @ tartecosmetics.com and sephora.com) – this one uses their patented C-brighter technology that uses the power of the Maracuja fruit that super hydrates the thin skin around the eye that a heavy moisturizer just can’t conquer.

BodyRITUALS Honey Touch Rich and Nourishing Body Cream ($25/6.7oz @ barneys.com) – I have a soft spot for honey and wow, does this one do right by it and I’m not just talking about the gorgeous scent! It uses Himalayan Honey and Indian Rose Oil to nourish the nose and skin as well as Shea Butter, Cocoa Seed Butter. Thick and rich, just what the skin needs right now.

Review+Swatches - Tarte LipSurgence Power Pigment

Tarte-LipSurgence-Power-Pigment-Intense-in-Exposed-and-Blissful-2
Lots of buzz over TARTE’s latest collection of products for Spring, which includes these LipSurgence Power Pigments ($23 @ sephora.com and tartecosmetics.com). These were inspired by the newly designed cheek stains with the bright colors and new shape. These slim lippies contain the antioxidants, vitamin E and peppermint like their big brothers but these seem to have more pigment in the color, which I’m surely not complaining about!

Shown here in Blissful (dark peach coral) Exposed (nude pink)

They are pretty hydrating and the color lasts a few hours and doesn’t creep into lip creases at all. I think these could be the best lippies I’ve ever tried from tarte. Yeah!

New from Tarte! Colored Clay CC Primer

Tarte-Colored-Clay-CC-Primer
TARTE
just came out with a bunch of new products for spring and today I want to show you the Colored Clay CC Primer.

What It Is: A multi-tasking complexion corrector. Made with super anti-oxidants and Amazonian colored clay, this primer brightens skin, blurs imperfections and neutralizes any redness and discolorations. Use this one before foundation as your primer.

My take: At first I thought this was a primer and stick foundation in one since it comes in 5 different shades but it’s not. It’s just a tinted primer and while I thankfully don’t need the redness cutting part of this product, I’m sure digging the blurring imperfections and brightening properties of it.

This is for sure my new favorite primer. $34/.51oz @ sephora.com and tartecosmetics.com.

The 3 Best Multitasking Beauty Products of 2013

We’ve all read about the best multi-taskers there are out there when it comes to beauty but most of the lists I’ve seen list products that maybe take care of two or three things, not truly multi. So here are some that really are MULTI!!

The-Best-Multi-Taskers-of-2013

1. PUREOLOGY Colour Fanatic ($24/6.7oz @ pureology.com for locations) – where do I start?? This 100% Vegan product protects against heat, environmental damage and color fading, controls frizz and is a great leave-in conditioner, among other things; 21 things specifically.

2. TARTE BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen ($34/1oz @ tartecosmetics.com) – it’s a face primer, so it makes your foundation or tinted moisturizer last longer; it’s tinted so ixnay what I said previously! No extra color needed (comes in 4 shades). This one includes anti-aging ingredients in the formula; has UVA/UVB blocker of SPF 30. No pitiful 15 here, baby, and it’s quite moisturizing.

3. JOSIE MARAN Argan Balm ($42/4.6oz @ sephora.com) – I adore a balm because of their multi-tasking-ness (yes, that’s a new word!). And this one is no exception and it is heavy in the argan oil. Use it on cuticles, to defrizz hair, dry spots on the skin, lips and I even use it on my heels before I go to bed.

Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes! Mascara and Inner Rim Liner

Do you have one eye that always seems to come out better when you put on makeup? For me, my right eye is always easier. I’m right-handed so maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, speaking of eyes, the TARTE COSMETICS line just came out with two new items for eyes as part of their Fall 2013 CollectionLights, Camera, Flashes! Statement Mascara in Black and Lights, Camera, Flashes! Waterproof 12-Hr Inner Rim Liner in Black. Let’s get a closer look at both, shall we?

Spring Star Bronzers

Makeup bronzers on the face can be a little tricky so hopefully these recommendations will help out.

Spring-Star-Bronzers-Estee-Lauder-Tarte-Bare-EscentualsTARTE Park Ave Princess Bronze & Glow Matte Bronzer & Cheek Tint ($32 @ tartecosmetics.com) – loving this 2-in-1 matte bronzer and cheek tint. The liquid bronzer shouldn’t scare you as it’s on the tamer side and the cheek tint is a coral on the slight shimmer side.

ESTEE LAUDER Luminous Liquid Bronzer from the Bronze Goddess Collection ($28.50 @ esteelauder.com.com) – this is a more serious liquid bronzer and I tried it a few times on my face but since I’m not the best at applying these, I found it better on my arms and shoulders. Go figure!

BARE ESCENTUALS bareMinerals Warmth All-Over Face Color ($19 @ bareescentuals.com) – if you are better at wielding the powder form, this might be a better choice for you. Great for practicing your “3” technique on the face (start at the temple, drag the brush to the cheeks and then down to the jawbone).

Spring Makeup Helper Must Haves

Spring-Basic-Makeup-Must-HavesWhat are your go-to products for highlighting or un-highlighting areas on the face or helping it last throughout the day/night? Here are some I’ve been using and love.

To Make Eyes Pop - PIXI BEAUTY Extra Eye Bright Liner ($17 @ pixibeauty.com) – this super thin waterproof liner is meant to be worn on the water line or inner rim of the bottom lid. The pale white/pink/lavender color really brightens up any eye look.

To Highlight - ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée in Heatwave ($40 @ esteelauder.com) -  highlight your cheeks, under the brows and even the décolletage with this new one from their Bronze Goddess Collection. Gorg.

My Go-To BB Cream - TARTE BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen ($34/1oz @ sephora.com) – sunscreen (check), longevity (check), slight tint (check), nourishing ingredients (check). Available in 4 shades.

Banish Under-eye Circles - ORLANE Highlight Care Brush ($40 @ orlane.com) – I’d put this one up against this cult favorite any day! If you’re going to rock the Spring look, dark circles and rough under eyes won’t cut it. Get your glow on with this one.

Hold On Eye Shadow - SENNA COSMETICS Totally Transforming Eyeshadow Primer ($24 @ sennacosmetics.com) – there’s nothing worse than your eye shadow sliding off your lids from the heat, so this season, vow to wear an eye shadow primer every time. This one contains antioxidants and peptides and available in three shades.
