Gift Pick - tarte Eye Candy

Holiday-2011-Product-PickWhat would the holidays be without a gift recommendation from TARTE? I’m recommending their Eye Candy Waterproof 6-pc Amazonian Clay Shadow Wand Set (phew, long name!) at the bargain price of $29.50 @ qvc.com. The set is made up of 6 awesomely wearable basics and are waterproof so they won’t budge for many hours. Colors: Charcoal, Champagne, Bronze, Moss, Taupe and Plum.

Review: tarte SmolderEYES Waterproof Liners

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Tarte-SmolderEYES-Eye-Liners I think I found the bargain of the season with this next item. It’s TARTE’s limited edition SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner Collection. It’s 6 of their jumbo eye liners for a super good price of $39. That’s $6.50 each!! The colors included are Golden Beige, Moss, Violet, Espresso, Smoke and Golden Black (new color for fall 2011), so all the basics. I almost think this listing on sephora.com is a typo as elsewhere on the site, the liners are sold individually for $25 each.

So if you buy the kit or purchase them individually, the pencil itself is totally worth it. The colors are richly pigmented go on smoothly, last many hours and easy to use when you’re in a hurry, which seems like all the time these days! Each is formulated with real Amazonian Clay that Maureen discovered on her trip to South America a few years ago, as well as 20 different micro chromatic pigments. These get two thumbs up! See them @ sephora.com

Review: Tarte NeutralEYES Volume II

Tarte-Neutraleyes-Palette-Vol-2 If you are a palette fan and a TARTE fan, they just put out one of the best ones, IMO.I mean it’s rare to get a makeup palette where more than 50% of the colors will work for you. Not so with their NeutralEYES Volume II Natural Eye Palette. I’d bump up the percentage to about 80% totally usable colors. Some may say more!

What’s in this one: 10 neutral shadows, a double-sided brush, Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in Brown and a deluxe-size of their primer, which I'd never tried and it seemed to work pretty well (only tried it twice so far). And did you see the outside of this? It's like a wallet-sized clutch embellished by zipper. Wicked cute. $44 @ ulta.com.

Tarte & Per-Fekt Kick Up Some Blushes

These two blushes couldn’t be more different from each other but they share a common factor – they both only require a little for color and both last on the cheeks, which are two important factors for me.

Per-fekt-BEauty-Cheek-Perfection-Gel-tarte-Amazonian-Clay-Blush TARTE Amazonian Clay Long-Wear Blush ($25 @ sephora.com) – this one is pretty groundbreaking and here are the deets: the formula is made of Amazonian clay, which minimizes oil on the face and also hydrates it. This one also contains vitamins C and E and believe me when I say a little color goes a long way. You get a really great bang for your buck! Color pick: Natural Beauty (a muted strawberry red) and Blushing Bride for contouring (plumy rose).

PER-FEKT Cheek Perfection Gel in Blushed ($28 @ perfektbeauty.com) – now this is a blush! While I’m not too wild about the applicator (it’s a pump and with the .33oz makes me not want to waste anything out of it), the actual formula is concentrated and this Blushed red color is exactly what you think of when you think of blush. What’s different about this on than other gel blushes? It contains Smart Colour Technology, which is an anti-oxidant caffeine that makes it able to adjust to various skin tones. And I have to agree as it leaves a really natural looking flush in its wake. I just wish this one came with some kind of sponge top like this one so again, I didn’t waste any on my finger or in a sponge. Then it would be flawless!

Review: EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow/Liner

Tarte-EmphasEYES-Waterproof-Clay-Shadow-and-Liner Like the face primer, I think we’ve all experienced the eyeliner-in-a-pot at this point. And while it seems that they pretty much are all the same, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. TARTE’s EmphasEYES Waterproof Clay Shadow/Liner is your basic stay-put liner or shadow and comes in the six basic shades like Black, Bronze, Brown, Green, Plum and my favorite Indigo. It’s a really pretty deep royal or metallic blue in the glass pot and depending on how many coats you apply it, it can look like a blueish grey.

And I really love the double-sided brush it comes with. One side is a tapered stubby brush and the other side is a liner brush. $22 @ sephora.com and tartecosmetics.com.

tarte natural lip stain

Tarte-natural-lip-stain-pencil TARTE is on fire these days. Seems like they are adding products every few weeks! I finally was able to catch up to them and try their new Natural Lip Stain with LipSurgence Technology and I’m really liking them but I do have a small problem with the name. It’s not a true stain as in, it doesn’t stain the lips, just colors them. Am I being too technical? It’s just that when something has the word stain in it, it should be a true stain. Then again, their Cheek Stains are not true stains either and these are meant to be an extension to those. Anyway, these are each peppermint-infused and look like the cheek formula formed in an oversized crayon form. Wait, maybe these are (it) the cheek formula put into a pen form?? I did try one of the berry shades on my cheeks and it looks like it could be. Hmmm…

Anyway, think of these as a hint of tint balm. While there are not real lip balm ingredients inside, the result looks like a semi-glossy tint Color picks: Joy (peach) and Moody (deep berry). $24 @ sephora.com.

Have you tried these yet? What did you think?

Laura Geller and Tarte Have Two Winning Foundations

Laura-Geller-tinted-moisturizer-tarte-ReCreate-Anti-Aging-Foundation Trying to cut corners? Save pennies? Who isn’t? Shopping definitely is not like it used to be so why don’t you try combining two of your makeup products in one. Very popular these days are the combo moisturizer and foundation with the tinted moisturizer. LAURA GELLER just came out with Barely There Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20 ($30/1.25oz @ sephora.com) and it contains those light-diffusing mineral pigments that lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles. If you are in a hurry like I seem to be every morning, this will save you a smidgen of time. And even though this one has a SPF 20, I would still use an additional SPF on your face. Available in Fair, Light, Medium or Deep.

If a tint ain’t your thang, TARTE just put out ReCreate Anti-Aging Foundation With Wrinkle Rewind Technology SPF 15 ($37/1oz @ sephora.com) and it has a lot of things I look for in a good foundation as in free of a lot of the bad things found in some foundations like sulfates, parabens, and petro-chemicals. If I can avoid these in any product, I want to. And this one has something new in the formula called Wrinkle Rewind technology, which is a complex works on, you guessed it, wrinkles and also the skin’s tone and firmness. Like the above, this one too contains a SPF but again, I would add wear an additional SPF on your face. This one comes in 12 shades.

Summer Is Here With Tarte's New EyeQuatic

Tarte-eyeQuatic-waterproof-summer-essentials My tips and toes are dawned in the brightest nail polish colors I can find and now I’m gravitating towards the super bright eye shadow colors again. TARTE’s new eyeQuatic Waterproof Summer Essentials ($35 @ sephora.com) is 5 must-haves for the upcoming season. What caught my eye first were the new shades of their Lock & Roll Creaseless Cream & Powder Shadow Duos in Lavender, Teal (my pick) and Champagne. Have you tried these shadows yet? Easy to apply and a must-have for the hot weather – apply the cream shadow side and then lock the color in by rolling the loose over it. Big rec. Also included is their Lights, Camera, Splashes! 4-in1 Natural Waterproof Mascara, which I’ll probably give away to a girlfriend, and a really great Head Scarf. Pair it with any of three of the shadows and it makes your peepers pop! The sizes are a tad smaller than the full sizes so each is perfect for travel.
