Stila Dream in Full Color Palette

Let’s kick off the New Year with a really great palette; probably the best one I’ve seen in the last year.

Have you seen STILA’s Dream In Full Color Palette in person? I didn’t realize how large it was until I saw it when popped into Sephora recently. I know it’s hard to tell the size of things when looking at it online so I took the liberty of taking some pictures of it in different locations. Stay with me as it will be worth it at the end…

Cybelesays Special Report - IMATS Comes To Town!

The big International Makeup Artist and Trade Show (IMATS) was this past weekend and this show just gets bigger and better every year. I mean, I went twice about 6 or 7 years ago and it was just boring and barren but for the last 3 years, it has more hip brands than ever and it always sells out.

So who was there and what did I see and buy? Click after the jump and be prepared for a lot of pictures!

Cybelesays Special Report on The Makeup Show 2011

The Oscars were not the only thing to rumble through Los Angeles last weekend. The Makeup Show made its way into the city and while some of the usual brands made their appearance, there was one big brand debut whose attendance was a shocker.

Another All-In-One from Stila

Stila-One-Step-Makeup I raved about this one a few weeks ago and this one is another all-in-one makeup product. They are on a roll!! One Step Makeup Foundation from STILA is:

+ Primer
+ Concealer
+ Powder
+ Foundation

Since I can’t prove otherwise, I’ll have to take their word for it. I mean, how can I say it does or does not have powder in it? Anyway, it also contains their exclusive Youth Revival Bio-Available Mineral Complex from Arclay LLC, which is make the formula able to adapt to each part of the skin on your face to make it look more natural. And I really must agree at how natural it looks on the skin or rather how you can’t see it at all and it just evens out the tone beautifully.

Available in 8 shades. $44/1oz @ sephora.com.

Makeup that Doesn’t Move

What’s the point of even putting any makeup on if it’s just going to slide off after an hour. I’ve search high and low for the ones that really keep in place and below is the list I’ve come up with. Let me know if you have any other recommendations!

Non-melting-makeup

STILA Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner ($20 @ stilacosmetics.com) – this stuff doesn’t budge, doesn’t budge and doesn’t budge! Choose from 8 colors. Highly recommended.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream ($22 @ sephora.com) – I wrote about these when they debuted at The Makeup Show a few months ago and I still can’t get enough of them, especially when making my shadow stay for a long period of time. And the brightness of #21 Turquoise is just so refreshing.

BLINC Kiss Me Mascara ($25 @ blincinc.com) – this is my favorite mascara of all time and I’ve tried probably 100 or so at this point. This won’t come off until you take it off yet it’s not waterproof, which is so hard to take off!

SEPHORA Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain in Red Wine ($12 @ sephora.com) – hair is flying around and strands flying into lips with gloss or lipstick is just not sexy. Stain ‘em instead!

NYX COSMETICS Fabulous Lashes ($4.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com) – so many different styles to wow your peepers with and these won’t melt off! Shown here in #119 Gorgeous.

Stila's Twist on the Face Primer

Stila-One-Step-Correct At this point a makeup primer has to have something extra in order to wow me, as I’ve pretty much tried all the regular ones by now. And this new one from STILA does. It made its debut at the IMATS show recently and I was really excited to get my hands on it. It’s called the One Step Correct and contains three color correcting colors to adjust the skin. You know those concealer palettes that come in a wheel like this one? Well this one is the same thing except they are suspended in the serum in what they call a triple-swirled helix that color corrects, brightens and primes.

  • Green = correct and minimize redness
  • Lavender = brighten and counteract sallow skin
  • Peach = illuminate

And if that’s not enough, this one also contains their own Youth Revival Bio-Available Mineral Complex, which helps even out the skin’s tone and complexion.

And yes, this one contains silicones, so again, if you think you might be sensitive to them, do a spot test.

Big recommendation. $36/1oz @ stilacosmetics.com in August.

Cybelesays Special Report: IMATS

The Los Angeles International Makeup Artist and Trade Show (IMATS) was this past weekend in Pasadena, CA and while it’s not as big as the International Salon & Spa Expo (ISSE) I go to every year, there were still some must-sees.

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Coral ~

It’s not orange and it’s quite a ways away from red and it’s one of the colors of the season. What is it? Coral! I’ve done a couple of product picks in the Coral department and I think that out of all the colors on Pantone’s Spring list, Coral seems to be the one that gets the most reaction. What’s Hot for Eye Shadows this Spring?

According the Urban Decay and Stila, it’s shimmer! STILA just put out their Jewel Eye Shadow Palette ($32 @ sephora.com) from the Dust to Diamond Collection and with colors like Rose Quartz (light pink with silver sparkle), Amethyst (grey eggplant with champagne sparkle), Black Diamond (black with silver sparkle), and Golden Topaz (champagne shimmer with silver and gold sparkle), you’ll rock many looks in the coming months.

URBAN DECAY just came out with some cool new shadows too and these amp up the glitter. In fact, these boast 40% more than their most sparkly ones. So tap into your inner Ziggy Stardust with Stardust Eyeshadow ($20 @ sephora.com), from the Spring 2010 Collection, with colors like the dark purple shown here of Retrograde or the deep turquoise of Atmosphere. Each of these is a sheer wash of color and bits of sparkle in it and they claim no glitter fallout. For another looks, I’ve been dipping my brush into some water before applying the Moon Spoon (gray) as a liner.

I Always Knew Barbie Loved Stila & Now We Have Proof!

Stila-Barbie-Loves-Stila-Palette STILA’s new Barbie Loves Stila All Doll’d Up Palette ($28 @ drugstore.com) is like a palette within a palette and that comes to …four palettes in one palette. Does that make sense? Well, it’s twelve shadows total in this baby and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many packed in something so small and compact! And the pans are refillable! Here’s the breakdown:

  • Trio #1 - Champagne with shimmer; coppery brown with a soft shimmer; a cool-toned pink.
  • Trio #2 - A bold lightly shimmered teal, deep grayish-brown with shimmer, iridescent violet with fuchsia undertones.
  • Trio #3 - Periwinkle blue with soft shimmer sheen, a dark black-brown with silver sparkle, dirty champagne taupe with gray.
  • Trio #4 - Peach with gold shimmer; brown with a greenish cast, springy green with pale green-gold shimmer.

This one should keep your eye shadow lemmings at bay for a while, no?
