LAVANILA just came out with a 2-in-1 called The Healthy Body Wash 2-In-1 Shower & Shave. And while the price tag of $15/8oz may seem a tad steep, think about the price of a body wash that you use and shaving cream and you are cutting down on the amount of waste by using a 2-in-1. Before I tried this one, I took one of my regular body washes I had in the shower and applied some under my arms to wash and then took a razor to see if this was just a gimmick and you know, it’s not. The body wash I used didn’t seem to give me the razor the same glide. Should I have tried another body wash? Ok, let’s not get crazy!

And like all other Lavanila products, this one is made without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes and other nasties we should all try to avoid in our products.

It’s pretty maddening to have to cut back on everything. I mean, I do my own eyebrows now and my own nails (but found a way to make them look salon fab all the time. Feature on that coming in the next week), and I even find myself using my razor for a little longer than I’m used to. One area that I don’t like cutting corners on is shaving cream; I just don’t do soap. So far, 2009 has been the Year of the Razor. I think I have tried about 5 different razors and it’s only July! I’m not sure if that’s because so many new ones are coming out or that companies are seeing that beauty sites like this are quite influential but I welcome it whatever the reason.

I thought the dual heads looked pretty cool and were a gimmic until I went to go shave behind my leg and didn’t have to adjust the razor in my hand.

They make different colors and blades for men and women but since this has two blades, how about one side is for you and one side is for the hubby? How often have I wondered the same thing as the title of this next product? Haha. LIPPMANN COLLECTION’s new Did I Shave My Legs for This? ($24/7oz @ beauty.com) gets my vote for most uniquely titled product for the week. Besides helping your razor blade gliiiiide across the skin smoothly, this one has a really unique blend of Ayurvedic Complex for the skin’s hydration – Green Coconut Water and Withania Root Extract, which is only found in India, Acai Oil and essential oils to nourish the skin while shaving. The $24 may seem a little steep but think of this one as a multi-purpose product as it really nourishes the skin so much that I don’t feel like I need a moisturzier afterward.

File this next one under something I didn’t know I even needed but think of it like the face primer – you didn’t know you needed it and now you can’t live without it. And like the primer, this one is part of my routine. Great, another step! This CLARSSKiN Underarm Cleanser ($22/4oz @ clarsskin.com) is just that, an underarm cleanser that removes any traces of antiperspirant deodorant. So everytime you get out of the shower and apply it, your pores will be clean and ready to take on a new swipe of your sweat-stopping stuff. From what I read, deodorants leave behind metals and that’s what stains your white shirt yellow (yuck) so this makes sure all traces of it are removed so that won’t happen anymore.

And you can use this for shaving.

And think about the closer shave you will probably get now!

I love a gourmet shaving cream. There are not many out there so when I do come across one, it’s a must try. The latest one on the market? EVOLUTiON OF SMOOTH or EOS Ultra Moisturizing Shave Cream ($5.49/7oz @ drugstore.com) and this one does double duty -- shaves and moisturizes. And I like that you don’t have to wet your legs before putting it on as it doesn’t lather. It’s a cream and contains aloe, shea butter, and antioxidant vitamins. And how happening is the container? File this next one under the same category as the new 22” Monitor I just bought – a little more than I want to spend but total luxury and glad I did! It’s totally not needed as a less expensive one will do the trick but what a treat it is. WHISH Shave Crave in Papaya Coconut Shave Cream ($24/5oz, 32/6.7oz @ whishbody.com) not only helps lift the hair to attention but moisturizes the skin with papaya and coconut oils. And this scent really makes shaving not so bad.
