Review+ Swatches - Sephora Cream Lip Stain

I totally think of Ms. Dita when it comes to SEPHORA Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red ($12 @ sephora.com). It’s thee matte bold blue red I’m always looking out for. And this one is sooo pigmented and stays where you put it. If your lips are prone to lipstick bleed, just make sure to use one like this one as lippie insurance. Made with avocado oil, the formula is really lightweight and takes a steady hand when it comes to precision. Do you dare?

Fall Product Standouts – Eyes

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Waves ($30 @ esteelauder.com) – I’m still all over strong colors on the eyes and teal always looks great next to brown eyes.

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Eye Studio Color Explosion in Pink Punch ($10.99 @ drugstores nationwide) – I’ve used all of these colors over the past couple of weeks and even all at one time. The price makes this one worth it.

CLARINS Instant Liner in Black ($26 @ clarins.com) – a super flexible tip makes helps this liquid liner hug the curve of the eye for a great application.

SEPHORA Eye Bling ($6 @ sephora.com) – really make eyes stand out with these cute crystals with adhesive on them.

BOBBI BROWN Rich Color Eye Shadow in Pink Silk ($24 @ bobbibrown.com) from the Marrakesh Chic Collection – a great neutral with just a touch of shimmer makes this a great everyday shade for many skin tones.

DIOR DiorShow Liner Waterproof in Plum ($29 @ sephora.com) – liners should all be made this great! It’s really smooth, non-tugging and stays put after setting.

Hair Products to Help the Transition

The season once again is on deck to change! Will you be updating your hair styling products and tools? Here are a few to get you at least thinking about it.

Nexxus-Bumble-and-Bumble-Redken-Spornette-Sephora-hair-care-brushes NEXXUS Maxximum Super Hold Styling and Finishing Mist ($10.55/10oz @ nexxus.com) – transitioning from one season to another can wreak havoc on strands. They don’t know what to do! This one will keep strays and flyaways at bay.

REDKEN Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam ($6.99/2oz @ redken.com) – we have all seen that big hair is coming back in a big way. And where does big hair start? The roots of course! This foam will boost strands to get them standing at attention.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Mending Masque ($37/5oz @ bumbleandbumble.com) – let’s face it, if your hair is ratty and out of shape, nothing you try is going to help so make sure you get it back in line with a good hair mask like this one.

A change in the season means a change in my hair brush. After all, the materials that style and go though your hair have a life span as well. And they don’t have to look all boring and functional anymore. Take these two for example. This SPORNETTE Hypnotique #5902 Purple Paddle Brush ($26.95 @ spornette.com) combines nylon and 100% boars bristles and is a great staple everyday brush while SEPHORA’s Bamboo Boar Brush ($12 @ sephora.com) has a ceramic-coated barrel and, as the name states, all boar hair bristles. And the thinness of it makes it easy for wielding.

How Are YOUR Makeup Brushes Doing?

Real-Techniques-makeup-brushes Ok, we’re at that point in the year again – new season means time to take stock of your makeup and beauty tools and see what you have, need to get rid of or need to replace. You’ve probably read a few times that a good set of brushes goes a long way in getting the most out of your makeup products. Here are two sets I’m recommending to get yourself up to speed.

There’s a new line amongst us called REAL TECHNIQUES. It was founded by vlogger/blogger/makeup artist Samantha Chapman after seeing a void in the area of makeup brushes. She wanted to create a line of brushes that were high-tech, high quality and $-friendly and at the same time easy and straight forward to use. The aluminum handles are color coated for easy identifying on the makeup table and the bristles are made of taklon so they are cruelty-free.

Swatch Heaven with Sephora and Kat Von D

I want to introduce a new on-going feature to the site called Swatch Heaven and will be swatching various eye shadows, blushes, eye liners, really any makeup product that you need to see to really get it. Here are two I’m calling “In a Blue Mood.”

In-a-Blue-Mood---Sephora-Baked-Eye-Shadow-and-Kat-Von-D SEPHORA Baked Moonshadow Trio in Blue Blood 05 ($17 @ sephora.com) – the dark blue is surprisingly black looking on the skin and the silver doesn’t really show up at all. Really digging the royal blue/turquoise.

KAT VON D True Romance Pigments in Johnette ($16 @ sephora.com) – just look at the depth of this blue! You can do it up to be oh-so-sheer to a really deep and pigmented blue that showcases the underlying aurora borealis.

Sephora Puts Out a Colorful Palette

Sephora-4-Shadows-and-Liner-Palette-in-Smoky-Blue-No.-2 I could talk about beauty products all day and rarely find myself at a loss for words. This Colorful Palette in Smoky Blue No. 02 from SEPHORA is challenging me! I mean, it’s 5 great quality shadows to help contour and bring your eyes out either for a day look or an evening look. The colors just speak for themselves! And the bonus with this one is that on the back of the compact is a diagram that will show you how to get each look.

A color – Silver
B color - Baby Blue No 36
C color - Catherine No. 3
D color - Sparkling Blue
C color – matte Eye Liner in Dark Blue.

$24 @ sephora.com.

Makeup that Doesn’t Move

What’s the point of even putting any makeup on if it’s just going to slide off after an hour. I’ve search high and low for the ones that really keep in place and below is the list I’ve come up with. Let me know if you have any other recommendations!

Non-melting-makeup

STILA Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner ($20 @ stilacosmetics.com) – this stuff doesn’t budge, doesn’t budge and doesn’t budge! Choose from 8 colors. Highly recommended.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream ($22 @ sephora.com) – I wrote about these when they debuted at The Makeup Show a few months ago and I still can’t get enough of them, especially when making my shadow stay for a long period of time. And the brightness of #21 Turquoise is just so refreshing.

BLINC Kiss Me Mascara ($25 @ blincinc.com) – this is my favorite mascara of all time and I’ve tried probably 100 or so at this point. This won’t come off until you take it off yet it’s not waterproof, which is so hard to take off!

SEPHORA Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain in Red Wine ($12 @ sephora.com) – hair is flying around and strands flying into lips with gloss or lipstick is just not sexy. Stain ‘em instead!

NYX COSMETICS Fabulous Lashes ($4.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com) – so many different styles to wow your peepers with and these won’t melt off! Shown here in #119 Gorgeous.

Make Eyes Pop in a Unique Way with Rimmel and Sephora

I have super dark brown eyes and I’ve been into adding a pop of unexpected, but well blended, color into the lower lash line. It looks really cool and draws a little unexpected attention to the area. Here are two I’ve been rocking and they both happen to be one of the major colors of the season, turquoise!

Rimmel-Eye-Shadow-in-Posh-Peck-Sephora-Pencil-in-Flashy-Blue RIMMEL LONDON Glam’Eyes Mono Eye Shadow in Posh Peck ($3.99 @ ulta.com)

SEPHORA Flashy Liner Waterproof in Flashy Blue ($8 @ sephora.com)

Stay tuned for an on-going feature on some major colors you should be rockin’ for spring.

Disclosure: One of these items was provided to Cybelesays.com for review purposes. I bought the other.
