Honey, Honey

I have been a long time fan of HONEY. It never spoils, it’s sweeter than sugar, and it’s packed with vitamins and antioxidants. According the wikipedia, it’s the only food that includes all the substances necessary to sustain life, including water. Amazing! I really think this ingredient is highly overlooked when it comes to using it in beauty products as it proven to be able to attract and absorb moisture. So here’s out first of a four-part series on HONEY and beauty products that get it:

"Sugar ... Aww, Honey, Honey ... "

Like this one from last week and this other one from back in March, this NOODLE & BOO Sugar Mama Honey Scrub ($26/8oz @ noodleandboo.com) is all things yum, with the foundation ingredient being honey. This scrub uses sugar as the exfoliant and contains Shea butter, vitamin A and aloe.

This one really got our wheels turning so we decided to do a four-part series that will run in the coming weeks on great honey products so be sure to check back often.

Wash~n~Scrub

The best way for any moisturizer to work is to use a scrub to remove all the dead skin beforehand. This really allows the moisturizer to sink in deep. I am really liking SURGEON’S SKiN SECRET One Step Manicure ($3.99 - $24.95/1oz - 16oz @ jamarklabs.com). It’s Shea Butter, essential oils (lemon, jojoba and almond) mixed in sea salt. Massage a tablespoon all over hands and get ready for softness.

Fall Color Pick - Mossy Green

I consider greens, as in mossy greens, a very neutral color. They are so earthy, warm and natural that they could take the place of nudes in most cases. Olive, tarragon, and the creatively named products below, all make up our 2^nd Fall Color Pick, Mossy Green.

Getting In Touch With the Fifth Element

Using traditional Asian holistic therapies as the base of their home spa line, AKHASSA, is also really green. Not only do they help support communities in various countries where they get their ingredients but they also have a great respect for the traditions in these nations. Their Varada Hand Therapy Gift Set ($32 @ akassausa.com) is simply a treat to indulge in. Start with the Jasmine Rice Hand Scrub (2.8oz). Work it into the backs of hands and wrists. After drying, follow with the soothing Jasmine Rice and Cream (2.8oz) hand lotion. I don’t think any other scent could have been used to make this anymore enjoyable. And remember, doing a quick exfoliation before applying any lotion or cream can aid in its ability penetrate the skin. Your Daily Face Should Be 3Lab

Some faces can hack daily use even though it is not recommended. 3LAB Perfect Cleansing Scrub ($50/3.5oz @ 3lab.com) gives a squeak-free cleaning and uses Jojoba beads to exfoliate dead dull skin. We’ve mentioned before that you should only use products that use synthetic granules on your face because they use exfoliates that are spherical - round. The ones that contain walnut shells, pumice etc are much too rough and jagged for the face's delicate texture. And this one is extra mild so they say it can be used everyday.
