The Lighter Side of … Scents of the Season

Frags_2If lighter scents are your summer choice, I’ve recently tried two of them that fit the bill perfectly.

MISTRAL’s Grapefruit Red Current Eau De Parfum is light, fresh, fruity and mood lifting with white jasmine, lemon blossom and freesia added. $48/1.7oz @ mistralsoap.com

A fragrance inspired by her memories of Toronto, SUSANNE LANG’s Augustina Collection consists of three scents inspired by her three favorite streets in the city. I’m in the pink with Roxborough which is a sultry scent containing spice and powdery musk notes. It’s fantastic for an all over hair and body spray! $80/2oz @ fragrancesandmore.biz ~Lisa

Scents of Summer

Lbel_2The bottle reminds me of the blue of the Mediterranean Sea. And I can certainly see myself on the white beaches surrounding the water when I wear Brises de Vie Aqua Eau de Toilette from L’BEL PARIS ($28/3.4oz @ lbel.com). The translation of the name is Breezes of Life and I think this one gives another well known “clean” line a run for their money. The longer you wear this, the better the fragrance smells on your skin. Refreshing and light and perfect for a summer night out! ~Lisa

Scents of Summer

It’s French and it’s organic, which are two big pluses in my book! L’Eau De Jatamansi fromLartisan_2 L’ARTISAN PARFUMEUR PARIS is a new Eau de Toilette that combines a floral and a woodsy bouquet. Top notes of clary sage and grapefruit and base notes of sandalwood make for a warm and sensual fragrance experience. Only the most exceptional essential oils are used to create the well being of body and mind. Body Cream, Body Oil and Bath Milk also available in this fragrance. Layer it, baby! $145/8.45oz @ artisanparfumeur.com ~Lisa

Scents of Summer

TOCCA has summertime down with their newToccamontauk Candle in Montauk ($36/10.6oz = 60 hours @ tocca-candle.com). Quality is expected when it comes to this line and this one throws a combination of fresh salt air and sea grass in the room. And the name? It’s the easternmost tip of Long Island and a beautiful spot.

Scents of Summer

Creativescentsgel_2 Creativescentslotion_2I’ve always loved Creative Nail’s polishes so I had to try their CREATiVE SCENTSATiONS collection of Hand & Body products. I’ve been using Wildflower & Chamomile Hand & Body Wash and the tranquil aroma of wildflowers combined with the benefits of chamomile is a perfect pair for me. This is a fantastic foaming wash that I use all over my body after a long day because it leaves me feeling oh so clean. After drying myself off, I slather on the Hand & Body Lotion from head to toe. It leaves my skin well scented and soft as it contains Vitamins A, E, and Aloe Vera. I just wish they made these in a travel form. Both available and other scents for $11.50/8.3oz @ goindulge.com ~Randi

Scents of Summer

MANGIACOTTI FLORALS really goesMag out of their way to include special touches with their products, both inside and out. Every ingredient inside is based on essential oils, vegetable bases and other naturals ingredients. And since most are preservative free, you probably shouldn’t store them for too long after opening. That won’t be hard with their new Shea Butter Lotion in orange's cousin, Clementine ($19.75/9.4oz). This is such a fun fragrance! How many products come in the Clementine scent? It contains the aforementioned skin nourishing Shea butter and the scents lasts quite a while on my skin. And if you want to bring a little beauty into the kitchen they also have a Clementine Liquid Kitchen Soap ($16.95/12oz). This is a line worth checking out. Both @ mangiacottiflorals.com

Scents of Summer

Matthew_2Here’s another trend for summer – lighter versions of existing fragrances. I’ve been seeing a lot of companies do this lately: DIOR, Guerlain, YSL, and Issey Miyake, to name a few. Summer is the time for feathery, delicate scents, not heavy heady ones. If you are unsure, stick with more diluted version of a scent, an Eau de Toilette or body splash.

One that just crossed my desk and caught my eye is the MATTHEW WILLIAMSON Sheer Eau de Toilette ($60/1.7oz) just crossed my desk and caught my eye. This is a lighter version of their signature floral scent, which is notes of lime oil, green tea, bergamot, ginger, jasmine, magnolia, lily of the valley, Easter lily, sandalwood, benzoin, amber and musk. Sultry and flirty.

Like to layer? They also offer this scent in a Body Oil ($50/3.4oz) form. Both @ Nordstrom stores nationwide.

Scents of Summer

H2osssst

In continuing our coverage of the best summer scents, H2O+ has just come out with some “hot time in the summer” products. After a long day at the pool, jump in the shower and slather on their Bath Aquatics Poolside Shower & Bath Gel ($9/8oz) and then the Bath Aquatics Poolside Mositurizing Body Balm ($11.50/8oz). Yes they're fun but they're also good for skin. The Gel contains botanical blends, seaweed extract and Aloe Vera, among others. And the Balm contains Glycerin to help retain moisture. Each has notes of magnolia blossom, green melon and white floral. So sunny and happy this duo is! Both @ h2oplus.com
