Get More Milage with Your Razor with Razorpit

RazorPitRemember when razor companies used to tell us that razors were good for one use? I don’t know anyone who used to abide by that! Then came this one, which showed they were listening to consumers and pretty much said, “ok, use it over and over. It’s still good.” But when do you think it’s time to change out your razorblade? And what about all that waste? Enter the RAZORPIT. This Razor Blade Sharpener sharpens your razor blades up to 150 times and it works with all the major brands (their homepage lists them).

So how do I know it works? Well, it's hard to tell exactly. While it worked fine for me and I wanted to bring it to your attention, I think the real test is for a man who uses a razor on his face as I think us women can get away with a not-so-sharp-blade for longer than them. Care to step up male readers? TBC...

Back to School with DERMAdoctor, Schick and Veet

Remember the dreaded bathrooms and showers in college? Well, it’s back to school for a lot of people this week so why not get your bod ready too with any of these.

DERMAdoctor KP Duty ($44/16oz @ dermadoctor.com) – gets rid of chicken skin. You know, Keratosis Pilaris? I get it in the fall on the backs of my upper arm and this keeps it at bay and leaves smooooth skin in its wake. It’s like a chemical peel for your body.

VEET Hair Removal Gel Cream ($4.99/5.1oz @ drugstores nationwide) – it may read September on the calendar, but I’m still rockin’ the short shorts so get rid of hair with this no-drip gel that dissolves the hair at the root.

SCHICK Intuition Plus ($9.29/razor, $9.99/3 blades @ drugstores nationwide) – if the above is not your thing … we featured this one on the site when it came out a few years ago and I don’t think I’ll ever use shaving cream again! As a reminder, this one has 4 blades and the solid formula around it has shea butter, aloe and vitamin E.

Rolling Razor Takes Shaving to a New Level

Rolling Razor So far, 2009 has been the Year of the Razor. I think I have tried about 5 different razors and it’s only July! I’m not sure if that’s because so many new ones are coming out or that companies are seeing that beauty sites like this are quite influential but I welcome it whatever the reason.

The ROLLING RAZOR, pictured here, was 8 years in the making. It’s 2.5 inches long and fits snug in the hand and great for getting into contours of the legs and underarm. I thought the dual heads looked pretty cool and were a gimmic until I went to go shave behind my leg and didn’t have to adjust the razor in my hand.

$9.95 gets you the mechanism, 2 cartridges, a holding base w/suction cup and a safty guard for the blades. They make different colors and blades for men and women but since this has two blades, how about one side is for you and one side is for the hubby? Then, the only thing you’ll have to agree on is the base color. Get yers @ rollingrazor.com. The site also sells the blade refills and shaving creams and oils for men and women.

Schick Says ... Shave With One, Trim With the Other

Schick-Quattro-TrimStyle This could be a TMI area for most but not for me! How do you groom your bikini area? Or rather, do you? I have had this conversation with men and women and most, thankfully, do. And to make it all one step easier, SCHiCK Quattro for Women just put out TrimStyle ($10.99 @ amazon.com) and what a great price! One side is your everyday 4-blade razor and on the other side is a waterproof trimmer. And you can achieve the desired hair length by adjusting the plastic comb position. And the package even comes with the AAA battery! Now that’s value.

A Closer Shave from the New Gilette

Gillette-Venus-Embrace If there’s one area of beauty where technology can be seen at its finest, it’s that of the razor. Used to be that a razor was just a razor but not anymore. They have more blades than ever and now we’re getting in to those that have extra gadgets on it. Take the new Venus Embrace ($9.99-$11.99/ShowerPod, $13.49-$14.99/four-pack of cartidges @ drugstore.com) from GILLETTE. It has 5 blades, count ‘em, 5 blades to remove hair. Soon we’ll be up to 10, right? And on either side of the blades is a Protective Ribbon of Moisture, they call it, and have this phrase trademarked, that protects against nicks and cuts.

So if you have a shaky hand when it comes to hair removal, this would be a good one to try.

New Invention by Schick!

We’ve all wished for it but it was only a matter of time before someone tookSchick_2 matters into their own hands and created it. SCHICK Intuition Lady’s Razor ($8.29 @ drugstore.com) contains a Skin Conditioning Solid that lubes when it hits wet skin. The Solid (the blue around the razor head) contains aloe, cocoa butter and vitamin E and it surrounds the triple blade so it helps protect against nicks. The pivoting head adjusts to the level of the Solid so as you use it the blade will still give you the right shave.

Question: Since I started shaving I always heard that you are only supposed to use a razor one time and then throw it away. If this is the rule then why is this one made to be used over and over? Things that make you go hmmmm…

In any case, this mechanism has made shaving a breeze and, believe it or not, quite a thrill and not such a chore.
