5 Favorite ... Makeup Brushes

5-Favorite-..-Makeup-Brushes-Crown-Brush-Guerlain-Make-Up-For-Ever-Bdellium-Tools-Pixi-Beauty
1. CROWN BRUSH Set 700P – 5 PC. Essentials Set w/Purple Tips ($19.95 @ crownbrush.us) – the perfect set of tools for on the go. This cloth pouch contains all your essentials – Powder Dome, Oval Foundation, Oval Shadow, Oval Detail and Angle Liner. And the purple tips of the brushes are really chic.

2. PIXI BEAUTY Precision Brush ($12) and Shadow Brush from their new Brush Collection – both and more @ pixibeauty.com – the Pixi line is really expanding the brand! First this and now brushes. The Precision Brush is stubbed, which is great for creating a smoky eye or for smudging shadow or liner.
And I’m a sucker for a great all-purpose Shadow Brush, which is the perfect size for many different applications on the lid and above.

3. GUERLAIN Terracotta Bronzing Powder Brush ($42 @ sephora.com) – this is the Rolls Royce of bronzing brushes. Everything about it says luxe! From the deep red bristles to the bronze-colored suede pouch with magnetic closure it comes in.

4. BDELLUIM TOOLS All-Purpose Blusher #964 – part of the Anti-Bacterial Brush Collection ($14.75 @ bdelliumtools.com) – confused about all the different blush brushes out there? This one is a good option then! As the name states, it’s an all-purpose and can handle any blush you buff on it. This 8.5” long  brush uses natural and synthetic fibers in the hair.

5. MAKE UP FOR EVER #158 Double Ended Sculpting Brush ($53 @ sephora.com) – love the brand’s newest makeup brushes and this double-ended brush covers a lot of uses – blush, face powder, and bronzer. Only use animal-free products? This one’s safe for you.

What I’m Liking Right ... Now!

What-I'm-Using-Right-Now
NEUTROGENA Norwegian Formula Hand Cream ($3.59/2oz @ drugstore.com) – if this is the way the Norwegians do hand cream, I’m totally in! This is not like any other hand “cream” I have ever used. And it’s not really even a hand cream. It’s more of a thick salve or ointment that seems to stay on the skin for a while but not in a greasy way but more in a protective way. This one is getting my hands through the winter weather.

NARS Cinematic Lipstick in Short Circuit from the Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection ($26 @ narscosmetics.com) - If bright lippies are your thing, this is a great orange-red that I’ve been wearing for the past week straight. Things are cold and drab right now so why not perk up with this hot shade?  And it so catches me off guard during the day that when I walk past a mirror and catch a glimpse, I almost don’t think it’s me in the reflection!

PIXI BEAUTY Glow Tonic ($29/8.5oz @ pixibeauty.com) – this is a brand new area for the brand and if this is any indication of the quality of what they’ll be putting out, I’m in! It’s an alcohol-free toner that exfoliates using 5% glycolic acid and nourishes it with aloe, witch hazel, hose chestnut extracts and ginseng.

GOURMET BODY PATRIES Sweet Tarts Candy Whipped Shea Butter ($12/4oz, $21/8oz @ gourmetbodypastries.com) – I’m so not into dessert smelling body products so I’m glad that this brand makes some for us like this Sweet Tarts one. Yum! Smells great and it works even better on the skin and uses just a few ingredients – oils of olive, coconut, almonds and vitamin E as well as Shea Butter, aloe and vegetable glycerin. That’s it! Love this kind of brand.

Review+Swatches - Pixi Beauty Crayon Combo Duo Pencil

Pixi-Beauty-Softly-Smoky-Crayon-Combo-out-of-box
PIXI BEAUTY
just put out some new products for fall and right now I’m digging on their Crayon Combo in Softly Smoky ($18). One side is a deep matte chocolate brown for the liner and on the other thicker side of the pencil is a glowing medium bronze that is used to define. And the dark liner can also be used on the waterline as it’s waterproof. I didn’t find it performed as well as this one but the dark brown is a nice alternative to harsher black.

And don’t forget to pick up their Dual Sharpener for only $6. How many times do you need to sharpen one of your many width pencils and not have the right sharpener.

Spring Product Must Haves

Spring-Product-Must-HavesCHANEL Anti-Pollution Sunscreen SPF 50 ($55/1oz @ chanel.com) – wrinkles are not sexy so be sure to apply a good one that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. And the formula totally disappears when you apply it so no yucky white residue leftover.

NORDSTROM Lip Gloss in Tropical Shimmer ($9.95 @ nordstrom.com) – every spring or summer look is perfect with a coral-y color swiped across lips. It has come back into fashion this time every year and its popularity probably won't wane next year either.

THE BODY SHOP Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil in Honey Kissed ($22/3.3oz @ thebodyshop.com) – consider this your last touch before heading out the door and much more purse-friendly than that other really popular tan-enhancing shimmer one we’ve all seen. And I think this one smells better as it’s one of my favorites, like the name says, honey.

NYX COSMETICS Setting Spray in Dewy Finish and Matte Finish ($8/2oz each @ nyxcosmetics.com) – setting sprays are your best friends this time of year. It keeps things in place for at least a few more hours than you’d normally get. And these come in two different finishes.

PIXI BEAUTY Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki in Summertime ($21 @ pixibeauty.com) – this bronzer is a matte version great for sculpting and making features stand out. Use this one with this great tutorial I saw from Allure recent blog winner here to get the most out of it.

Keep Your Makeup On with Cover FX and Pixi

You’re look ain’t nuthin’ if your makeup is sliding off your face! Here are two that will help keep color where it belongs.

Cover-FX-Protection-Primer-Pixi-Beauty-Flawless-&-Poreless
COVER FX Protection Primer SPF 30 ($38/1oz @ coverfx.com) – just like the name states, this one is great for daytime as it contains a SPF 30, it’s vegan and contains those light refracting elements to blur the appearance of lines.

PIXI BEAUTY Flawless & Poreless ($29/1oz @ pixibeauty.com) – if you have prominent pores then you  should try this primer. It helps smooth them out and this one is shine controlling and oil-free. Comes in only one shade – No. 1 Translucent.

Spring Makeup Helper Must Haves

Spring-Basic-Makeup-Must-HavesWhat are your go-to products for highlighting or un-highlighting areas on the face or helping it last throughout the day/night? Here are some I’ve been using and love.

To Make Eyes Pop - PIXI BEAUTY Extra Eye Bright Liner ($17 @ pixibeauty.com) – this super thin waterproof liner is meant to be worn on the water line or inner rim of the bottom lid. The pale white/pink/lavender color really brightens up any eye look.

To Highlight - ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée in Heatwave ($40 @ esteelauder.com) -  highlight your cheeks, under the brows and even the décolletage with this new one from their Bronze Goddess Collection. Gorg.

My Go-To BB Cream - TARTE BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen ($34/1oz @ sephora.com) – sunscreen (check), longevity (check), slight tint (check), nourishing ingredients (check). Available in 4 shades.

Banish Under-eye Circles - ORLANE Highlight Care Brush ($40 @ orlane.com) – I’d put this one up against this cult favorite any day! If you’re going to rock the Spring look, dark circles and rough under eyes won’t cut it. Get your glow on with this one.

Hold On Eye Shadow - SENNA COSMETICS Totally Transforming Eyeshadow Primer ($24 @ sennacosmetics.com) – there’s nothing worse than your eye shadow sliding off your lids from the heat, so this season, vow to wear an eye shadow primer every time. This one contains antioxidants and peptides and available in three shades.

Review: Pixi Beauty Tinted Brilliance Balm

Seems every line has tinted lip balms that don’t look like your traditional lip balm but I ain’t complaining! I actually like them for the most part as they are packed with nourishing lip ingredients along with the color. PIXI BEAUTY has their Tinted Brilliance Balm and they just added three new colors. They describe theirs as more of a glossy gel that when the balm wears off, the lips are left with tint that your own pH level adjusts.

I've never tried these before and the one I was sent to test out was the Lucent Glow – a rose gold shimmer in translucent pink base. Nice color in the tube and on lips but this one has no stain to it – I know I was sad because I really love the stains but this one left behind a nice iridescent glow. $16 @ pixibeauty.com.

Review+Swatches - Pixi Beauty Endless Silky Eye Pen

I never thought that a test of a truly good, non-tugging eye liner would to be the ability to apply it with one hand, as in one hand holding a mirror and the other applying to the lids. That’s exactly how I tried out this new Endless Silky Eye Pen from PIXI BEAUTY.
