NIVEA Tanner for Dummies

Nivea-Sun-Kissed-Beautiful-Legs-1 I’m kind of a moron when it comes to self-tanners. I can never seem to get it just right and end up with some areas darker than others so NIVEA’s new Sun-Kissed Beautiful Legs Shave Minimizing Gradual Tan Moisturizer is right up my alley as I don’t think anyone can mess it up! As the name states, it’s a gradual one that builds a natural looking tan with everyday use. And this one has an added bonus of not only moisturizing but also somehow making “hair less noticeable.” I have no idea what that means and didn’t really see the hair on my legs and could not figure out which ingredient was able to do that so I’m shrugging over that one. But if you are looking for a natural looking buildable color for your skin, this is a good one to try. Available in Fair to Medium and Medium to Dark for $9.99/6.7oz @ cvs.com.

Cybelesays Special Report - Hello Shellac!

Remember this feature from last year with the new trend for the long-lasting manicure? Well CND’s version, called Shellac Hybrid Nail Color, is upon us. It's the same base coat, color, top coat then cure with a UV light type of process and the formula is 3-Free (no formaldehyde, tolune or DBP) like the other company I tried last year but did this Shellac live up to the hype? What Took Me So Long to Discover L'Oreal Paris' Infallible Lipcolours?

The more lip glosses I try the more I realize how kind of amazing these are at staying on lips. So of course I have to wonder what took me so long to discover their, L’OREAL PARIS, Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour Compact. Uh-maze-ing! Not only does the color stay on for hours but it doesn’t flake or smear off. I think we’ve all tried something like this by now and most seem to stay for a little while but eventually come off and usually by flaking dryly off. These did make my lips a little on the dry but that’s after I took it off after wearing it for 8 or so hours, so that was ok in my book!

L'Oreal-Paris-Infallible-Lipcolor-in-Beyonce If you’re not familiar with how these work, one side is the color and it’s like a paint and not thick and waxy at all like a lipstick. The other tube in the duo is a clear chapstick-type of glosser, they call a conditioning topcoat. So when the color needs to be refreshed, just reapply the topcoat, not the color again.

Dare I say that I think they are better than these? I think they just might be!

And the container acts like a mirror. Nice added bonus!

They just came out with their Stars Never Fail Lipcolour Compact Collection ($11.99 @ lorealparis.com or drugstores nationwide) and I’ve got a set to giveaway to one lucky reader. The colors are: Beyoncé (Beyoncé’s Red), Andie MacDowell (Andie’s Rose), Diane Keaton (Diane’s Tuberose), Eva Longoria Parker (Eva’s Caramel), Kate del Castillo (Kate’s Plum) and Linda Evangelista (Linda’s Beige).

Product Review: Stark Body Scrub

Stark-Body-Scrub This Body Scrub from the STARK line really reminds me of one I used quite a few years back but can’t for the life of me remember what brand it was! All I know is that I really liked it and this one is falling in that category. It is comprised of finely milled walnut shell powder and essential oils like lemon verbena and peppermint and sure to get your engine going. The walnut powder is ground up super fine and is quite dense, so you don’t need a lot to get your exfoliation on. So what's different about this one from other scrubs? When you look at the mixture with the naked eye, it's almost like there are no oils in it and it all walnut shell, almost like coffee grounds but milled much finer. Not recommended for the face or other sensitive areas but a big recommendation for the body! $24/6oz @ starkwaxingstudio.com.

Another Day, Another Apple from Nina Ricci

Nina-Ricci-Le-Paradis-de-Nina If NINA RICCI Le Paradis de Nina doesn’t scream summertime, I don’t know what does! And this has to be one of the sweetest scents I have come across in some time but in a nice feminine way. Check out these notes:

Top: orange peel, mandarin, orange blossom, almond tree
Middle: gardenia, apple, heliotrope
Bottom: sandalwood, blonde woods, patchouli and vanilla.

To my nose, this one opens with a strong fruity orange smell and then develops into a tangy floral. Very romantic smelling. $55/1.7oz @ macys.com.

This Week In Lips

Hwood-Beauty-Lip-Shine-in-Plum Now this is a new concept – a tea room inspiring a line of beauty products. The location is called h.wood Tea Room and like the teas they brew, the products they create use organic tea leaves (along with essential oils) to make up the HWOOD BEAUTY line. I was delightfully surprised by their Lip Shine in Plum ($20 @ hwoodbeauty.com) recently. It’s one of those not-at-all gloss formulas that will last you forever and seems more like a stain it’s so thin. I mean, who is in the mood for a goopy gloss or thick lipstick in this heat??

And don’t be scared off by the gothicy plum of this plum shade shown in the picture as  it actually comes out like a light mauve, believe it or not.

Have You Tried A Dry Body Oil Yet?

Votre-Vu-Amour-D'Ore-Payot-Rejenerating-Dry-Oil They are rich and moisturizing yet not greasy like a lotion can be until it sinks in. I mean, who wants to slather on a thick lotion in this heat? Here are two next to my shower right now.

VOTRE VU Amour D’Ore Les Vitamines Pour Vous/Golden Love Multi-Vitamin Oil for Face, Body and Hair ($49/2.71oz @ votrevu.com) – uses St. John’s Wort oil, grape seed oil, sweet almond oil and many, many other great ones. Wow!

PAYOT  Huile Precieuse Minerale Regenerating Dry Oil ($61/3.3oz @ beauty360.com) – uses Jojoba oil, apricot oil, and avocado oil. I can't get enough of the fragrance in this one.
