Hair Color Mainenance with Kerastase and Ojon

Kerastase-Chroma-Sensitive I just had my hair colored with a color system that uses no amonia to deliver the color. It’s called Inoa from L’Oreal Professional (review coming later this week). As far as color goes, I decided to go with the color of the season, copper. And I love it! It looks just like this color model Lydia Hurst has on the March 2011 cover of Elle Mexico. Gorg! Anyway, with a new head of hair color, comes the time to assess the latest shampoos, conditioners and hair styling products to keep it lush and vibrant.

KERASTASE Chroma Sensitive ($43/6.67oz @ kerastase.com) – this one is one part cleansers and three parts conditioner. Even if you use a color-safe shampoo, this one doesn’t strip the color as much as even those. Use this one the first three shampoos after coloring and then alternate each time with your color-safe shamp.

For shampoo and conditioner, I’ve been all over OJON’s new Color Sustain Color Revealing Shampoo ($22/8.44oz) and Color Sustain Color Revealing Conditioner ($23/8.44oz) that will help maintain your new vibrant color from water-induced fading for up to 40 washes. Tah-dow! Water and any kind of cleansers will fade color fast so if you can cut down on how often you clean your strands and use something like this duo to gently clean them, you will save some money and time in the end.

And they also have a Color Protecting Cream ($24/4.2oz) and Gloss Finishing Hair Spray ($23.50/7.4oz) as part of the collection so if you’re really serious about your investment, invest a little further. All @ ojon.com.

Gift Pick: OJON Takes Care of Hair

Holiday-Icon-2010 I can only think of one other hair care brand in the last year that has gotten as much attention as my next pick. The products in the OJON line each contains their Ojon oil found in Honduras and wow, has this line taken off. My pick for the Gift Guide has to be their Shine & Protect Winter 4pc. Collection.

This kit contains: Shine & Protect Shampoo (8.5oz), Shine & Protect Conditioner (8.5oz), Leave-in Glossing Cream (2oz) and Glossing Mist (.85oz). $44 only @ sephora.com.

Ojon's Revitalizing 2-Min Hair Mask

Sometimes I just need a quick fix. A quick hair fix. I love a hair mask but don’t always have the time to put one on my head so sometimes I have to go longer than I want. With OJON’s new Revitalizing 2-min Hair Mask ($34/6.6oz @ ojon.com), I don’t have to anymore.

Ojon-Revitalizing-2-min-Hair-Mask

This one contains nine exotic oils and butters like Babassu seed oil, Murumuru Butter and Avocado Oil, to name a few, that nourish hair back to life. I would think that using all these rich butters and oils on my hair would weigh it down but surprisingly it doesn’t. How do they do that? And the best part is it does it in the shower in 2 minutes! I don’t think you can get any better than that, right?

Ojon Enhances Your Hair Color and Keeps Away the Frizzies

Ojon-Restorative-Leave-in-Treatment-for-Brunettes-2 The goal of every fall is to keep the frizzy hair away, right? Temperatures crash and moisture is sucked right out of the air and your hair. OJON just put out Restorative Leave-in Treatment and the timing is perfect. It claims to reduce the frizz up to 88% (how do they measure a percentage like this, I’ll never know!) Anyway, what this one has that your other frizz reducers have is a color enhancer – one made just for redheads, blondes and brunettes. So while you are using it for frizzy, the nourishing ingredients of Swa+ Oil, Macadamia, Cupuacu, Murumuru and Shea Butter hydrate help repair any pre-existing damage. They claim a 33% improvement in the conditioner of dry and/or damaged hair. Again, how do they …

And the color kick?  Like all the products in their line, they really go the extra mile in using ones you’d never expect. For example, the one I used for Brown Hair has Chinese Reishi Mushroom and Magnolia Bark for their antioxidant properties and both have an espresso-tinted colorant to them. In this case, it really is, what WILL they think of next? Great product. $29/4.2oz @ ojon.com.

Ojon Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Shampoo & Conditioner

Ojon-Rejuvenating-Shampoo-and-Conditioner Wow, I just realized how out of touch I’ve been with the OJON line. I forgot how much I really liked this kit when I tried it two years ago and then I saw they have been adding more products to the line! This Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Shampoo and matching Tawaka Ancient Tribal Rejuvenating Conditioner ($44.52/13/5oz each @ qvc.com) totally caught me by surprise. Not that I’m too swayed by reviews but this duo has scored an 81% out of 250 customer reviews. Not bad! Let’s look at each product and what it does.

The Cleanser: Sulfate-free and good for those with dry or damaged hair, which is probably all of us. Contains their trademark Ojon oil, which claims to strengthen and hydrate each strand, many oils like avocado, Sweet Almond, and jojoba to mention a few. And they also say that the savage cacao inside contains the antioxidant equivalent to 125 lbs of blueberries. Ok, this should be a face cream!

The Conditioner: also contains the max amount of Ojon oil and savage cacao inside and this one fully conditions and absolutely no tangles and this one is quite beneficial for the skin! Together these really softened my hair nicely.

Now with these two you are either going to love the smell or you will hate it. Some people have called it a cocoa or hazelnut but I’m just not sure but it’s very earthy and noticed the scent again and again every time the wind blew through my hair hours after I’d used the duo.

Summertime Hair Savers

OjonAfter watching many shows on the QVC channel on this next line, I finally was able to try it out. The main ingredient in all of OJON’s products is the Honduran Ojan nut, which the locals call a tress transformer. They just came out with these three kits, which make it not only easier to sample more of the line but you're also getting the best bang for your buck. There’s a Fortifying Hair Ritual, Nurturing Hair Ritual, and my pick, the Shine and Protect Hair Ritual Kit ($50 @ sephora.com), made for those of us who color our hair. The set includes a Restorative Hair Treatment (1.35oz), Shine and Protect Shampoo (2oz), Shine and Protect Conditioner (2oz), Shine and Protect Glossing Mist (.85oz), and a Leave-In Glossing Cream (2oz).
