Review+Swatches - OCC Lip Tar in Pretty Boy and Power Plant

OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS is one of those indy brands that is quickly gaining ground in the world of makeup. Their Lip Tars are obtained cult status and they just came out with some new ones at The Makeup Show I attended a few weeks ago. And while people go nutty, are their funky colors for you?

Cybelesays Special Report - IMATS Comes To Town!

The big International Makeup Artist and Trade Show (IMATS) was this past weekend and this show just gets bigger and better every year. I mean, I went twice about 6 or 7 years ago and it was just boring and barren but for the last 3 years, it has more hip brands than ever and it always sells out.

So who was there and what did I see and buy? Click after the jump and be prepared for a lot of pictures!

OCC Makeup Gets Their Spring/Summer On

Do you like a little fun with your makeup along the lines of Hard Candy and Urban Decay? Have you tried Obsessive Compulsive Makeup aka OCCMAKEUP yet? I’ve featured the line on the site a few times and the more I play with the line, the more I become a fan. If you haven’t , their Lo-Fi Spring/Summer 2011 Collection is a great one to start with. This is their polarizing reaction to the HD makeup trend happening right now  and the colors reflect the season’s makeup trends of color, color, and more color in their Lip Tars, Loose Colours and Nail Lacquers. What I like about this line is not only the great quality but you can tell they don’t have any filler color or products in the line. In other words, they put out what they mean!

OCC-Makeup-Lip-Tar-and-Loose-Colour Product picks: Lip Tar in Beta (vivid neon orange. Such a great one to mix with other shades), Interlace (subtle peach neutral). Loose Colour in Bitmap (rich, leafy green w/vibrant gold shimmer), Distortion (dark, smoky navy w/green and gold reflections) and Noise (muted reddish plum w/pink/blue duochrome).

They also have new Nail Lacquers in the collection but I didn’t try any of them. So tell me, have you tried any of the line and what did you think? All @ occmakeup.com

Cybelesays Special Report on The Makeup Show 2011

The Oscars were not the only thing to rumble through Los Angeles last weekend. The Makeup Show made its way into the city and while some of the usual brands made their appearance, there was one big brand debut whose attendance was a shocker.

Get Nails in the Holiday Spirit

Ok, we’re down to the wire and you gotta make sure your nails be did! There are quite a few you could go with – traditional red or green or go a little off beat with a glittery gold or sexy merlot. Will you be rockin’ any of these for the last of the Christmas parties this weekend?

OCC's New Lip Tars

OCC-Lip-Tar OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS just came out with some new Lip Tars. I am a fan of these though they are pretty hard to handle when you’re on the go. If you are not familiar with them, they have quite a cult following and are creamier and more pigmented than a gloss and more like a liquid lipstick. And as they say, a little goes a long way and I would recommend using a lip brush and scooping it right off the plastic tip of the applicator. And I love the dash of peppermint oil they add to the formulas!

This Week in Lips

All this week I’ve been putting TOO FACED Lip Insurance Lip Primer ($19 @ sephora.com) to the test with different lippies. But the ultimate test was with a red lippie that is not for the novice! First, what exactly is Lip Insurance Lip Primer? Well, you can pretty much guess from the name, it prevents fading, bleeding and Too-Faced-Lip-Insurance-Lip-Primer creasing. And the results? It worked pretty darn well on every one I wore it with but the toughest one? OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICSLip Tar in NSFW ($12.50 @ occmakeup.com). This is probably the most difficult red I have ever encountered because it is pretty liquidy, like more of a true stain,  but this primer tamed it into place and kept it there. The picture shown here is after 3 hours! The only thing I would recommend is to apply the nude formula a little outside of the lip line since you will apply the color to the edge of your lips. That way, it won’t bleed into any tiny crevices around the lips.

Special Report: Cybelesays @ The Makeup Show

The Makeup Show just came through LA the last two days and this show is always pretty fun to walk. The people and their done up faces and the body art that some showcase. It's really a nice way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
