Summer Perfection Products

These are really helping me enjoy summer this year! Have you made any adjustments due to the heat and humidity? Give these ones some consideration.

2011-Summer-Products
ELIZABETH ARDEN Pure Finish Mineral Cheekcolor in Sunkissed Coral ($28 @ elizabetharden.com) – If this one could talk, it would say, "I am the color of the decade!" Coral again is a big summer color and it's so gorg on the skin and really enhances a nice tan.

ORLANE Super-Moisturizing Tinted Cream ($75/1.7oz @ neimanmarcus.com) – it’s way too hot to put on a full mask of foundation so why not use a two-fer like this? It combines a deeply moisturizing face cream with a slight tint. Available in 3 shades.

NYX COSMETICS Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Sky Blue and Extreme Green ($4.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com) – colored liquid liners are hot these days and these do like the Michael Jackson/Paul McCartney duo and “Stay, Stay, Stay.” (I know it’s Say, Say, Say but Stay works better for this piece!).

LUSH 'Dirty' Springwash Shower Gel ($9.95/3.3oz, $17.95/8.8oz, $26.95/16.9oz @ lushusa.com) – I really wasn’t feeling their Dirty collection of products but this shower gel seems like a lighter version of the rest, according to my nose and it has a hint of spearmint oil in it.

SMASHBOX Photo Finish Luminizing Foundation Primer ($17 @ smashbox.com) – who wants their makeup to slide after applying? Summertime is great for this one as it gives a nice sheen, whilst helping makeup stay, stay, stay! And this one has some good-for-skin ingredients like grape seed extract and vitamins A, C and E.

VICTORIA’S SECRET Sheer Love Ultra-Moisturizing Hand and Body Cream from the VS Fantasies Collection ($12/6.7oz @ victoriassecret.com) – a scented cream is the perfect way to kiss the skin with fragrance without overdoing it. This one is a mix of fresh white cotton and luminous pink lily and contains avocado, zsweet almond oil and my favorite ingredient, honey.

The Victoria's Secret item contains mineral oil, which is seen by some as an ingredient of concern. The Lush product contains Sodium Laureth Sulfate, which is seen by some as an ingredient of concern. Read more about these and other ingredients here.

Cybelesays Special Report - IMATS Comes To Town!

The big International Makeup Artist and Trade Show (IMATS) was this past weekend and this show just gets bigger and better every year. I mean, I went twice about 6 or 7 years ago and it was just boring and barren but for the last 3 years, it has more hip brands than ever and it always sells out.

So who was there and what did I see and buy? Click after the jump and be prepared for a lot of pictures!

Nyx Grinds Up Some Blush

Remember seeing this picture of Nicole Kidman a few months ago and wondering why? I heard it was due to high definition makeup. Is that true? I’m still trying to find out so I’ll let you know! In the meantime, I have to ask, are you intrigued by the whole high definition makeup trend? Do you think there is a need for it? Thankfully only a handful of the makeup brands have put products under this subject because for us everyday Nyx-HD-Grinding-Blush-2 girls, I’m not sure we need it. The latest line to throw their hat into the ring is NYX COSMETICS. They just put out their HD Studio Photogenic Collection, which consists of foundations, powders, primers and blush and out of the bunch,

I’m picking the HD Grinding Blush to write about. I like the concept of the package it comes in – a grinder to finely grate off the exact amount of powder you need every time you use it. This keeps the product fresh and contaminate-free. Choose from 8 super-wearable and nicely blending colors for $16.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com. Color pick: Menage a Trois (a beautiful coral with a hint of gold).

One word of caution – make sure you clear out the shaved off product after you use it. For some reason, if you leave any in the compact, the powder seems to migrate to the outside lip and when you open it for use, it goes everywhere!

Nyx Cosmetics Solves Your Makeup Woes

NYX-Cosmetics-Eye-&-Lip-Makeup-Remover Now don’t go looking for organic and natural ingredients in a makeup remover. From what I’ve seen, you just won’t find one out there! So my goal was to find one that does the job but doesn’t cost a lot. I will pay a pretty penny for a good quality product but a $30 makeup remover is just not something I am comfortable buying. This Eye & Lip Makeup Remover from NYX COSMETICS is one I’ve been using the past few weeks and am very satisfied with the results and for only $8/2.8oz @ nyxcosmetics.com. Even though I don’t wear waterproof mascara, I do wear this and a few of these and at the end of the day, they are hard to get off. Well a few swipes of some of this with a saturated cotton ball and it removes the color lickety-split! While it does contain one questionable ingredient in it, it does have a dash of orange and papaya fruit extracts, so it’s not all chemicals.

This product contains  Benzyl Alcohol, which is seen by some as an ingredient of concern. Read my ingredient disclaimer here.

Tame Those Brows with Nyx Cosmetics

Nyx-Eyebrow-Shaper I pretty much have the most unruly eyebrows on the planet. My father is French so not only does he have a uni-brow but the hairs are really long and as I get older, I’ve seem to inherit the super long hair trait. Normally I don’t think the average person needs to keep their brow hair in order but if you have long ones, you do. NYX COSMETICSEyebrow Shaper ($8.75 @ nyxcosmetics.com) contains a blend of waxes that seem to hold them in their place and this one is enriched with vitamin E, whoo-hoo! I’ve used the ones that are more of a liquid that come in a mascara tube and the formula starts off as clear and turns to a dirty brown because I am applying it after I use a pencil to fill in. This one is just overall better because I am avoiding that aspect of yuck altogether.

Makeup that Doesn’t Move

What’s the point of even putting any makeup on if it’s just going to slide off after an hour. I’ve search high and low for the ones that really keep in place and below is the list I’ve come up with. Let me know if you have any other recommendations!

Non-melting-makeup

STILA Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner ($20 @ stilacosmetics.com) – this stuff doesn’t budge, doesn’t budge and doesn’t budge! Choose from 8 colors. Highly recommended.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream ($22 @ sephora.com) – I wrote about these when they debuted at The Makeup Show a few months ago and I still can’t get enough of them, especially when making my shadow stay for a long period of time. And the brightness of #21 Turquoise is just so refreshing.

BLINC Kiss Me Mascara ($25 @ blincinc.com) – this is my favorite mascara of all time and I’ve tried probably 100 or so at this point. This won’t come off until you take it off yet it’s not waterproof, which is so hard to take off!

SEPHORA Lush Flush Lip & Cheek Stain in Red Wine ($12 @ sephora.com) – hair is flying around and strands flying into lips with gloss or lipstick is just not sexy. Stain ‘em instead!

NYX COSMETICS Fabulous Lashes ($4.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com) – so many different styles to wow your peepers with and these won’t melt off! Shown here in #119 Gorgeous.

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Violet & Tuscany ~

Pantone-Spring-2010-Trend-Colors Let’s continue exploring Pantone’s color picks for the season in an on-going feature I’m calling Spring Color  Picks 2010. The next two picks are Violet and Tuscany. I just love violet and it’s a great accent to any outfit or to help put the focus on a specific feature with makeup, like eyes and even nails.

And when it comes to the warm beige hue of Tuscany, this one is a smart choice if the focus of your look is on a stronger color like the above violet or if you want to look polished and not really made up.

Will any of these be taking center stage for you this season?

Spring Color Pick 2010 ~ Coral ~

It’s not orange and it’s quite a ways away from red and it’s one of the colors of the season. What is it? Coral! Quick Picks and Budget Lips With NYX Cosmetics

NYX-Cosmetics-Jumbo-Lip-Pencil-in-Deep-Red

Love, love the jumbo crayon-type lipsticks and this is one of those that looks better on the lips than in the stick. NYX COSMETICS Jumbo Lip Pencil in Deep Red ($3.50 @ nyxcosmetics.com) is a semi-sheer bright cherry red that seems like it will work for a lot of different skin tones. Here are a couple of pictures from makeupalley.
