Fall Product Standouts – Skin Care

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Quite a few skin care products have come out and here are three I am giving my stamp of approval.

COLORESCIENCE PRO Illuminating Cleanser Mineral Powder Formula ($37.50/1.4oz @ colorescience.com) – this powder looks like diamond dust and is great at not only cleansing and exfoliating the skin with Salicylic Acid but it also removes makeup. No tightness of the skin after using this one. Big recommendation.

BURT’S BEES Sensitive Night Cream ($15/1.8oz @ burtsbees.com) – part of the new Sensitive line they just put out, which includes a Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream and Eye Cream. These contain Cotton Extract to help minimize the effects of potential irritants, as well as aloe. So your skin is getting what it needs but gently.

PREVAGE Day Intensive Anti-aging Moisturizing Cream SPF 30 ($129/1.7oz) – Liz Arden’s Prevage brand has received rave reviews and they just came out with two new products. This day cream not only guards against UVA/UVB rays, but it also contains the powerful ingredient Idebenone to protect the skin from daily environmental assaults. The other new one is their Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream ($132/1.7oz). Get them both @ prevageskin.com.

Two from Clinique For Aging Skin

Clinique-Dark-Spot-Corrector-and-Youth-Surge-Night-Moisturizer Since I discovered a few dark spots to the right of my right eye recently that were not there a few months ago, or at least I don’t think they were, I’ve been all hot on this new product CLINIQUE put out. The main offending spot is about the size of a pencil eraser, so I dove head first into their new Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector ($49.50/1oz) when their PR people sent it to me to try out. There’s a huge push on this product right now as they claim prescription strength and that you can see a difference on the skin in as little as four weeks. It contains their patent-pending CL-302 plant-derived complex that claims to help prevent the appearance of new dark spots and visibly break up existing clusters of pigment as well as  improve the overall radiance and clarity. So how did it work for me? I have used it for about 5 weeks now and while I do see a boost in the overall radiance and slight difference around the main brown spot, it didn’t get rid of the brown spot altogether, which is what I was hoping for. So I’ll keep on using it until the product runs out and hopefully it will do some more damage to the main brown spot.

The other new product I’ve been using is their new Youth Surge Night Age Decelerating Night Moisturizer for dry combination ($48.50/1.7oz) and what a great nighttime moisturizer this one is. Based on Sirtuin Techology, this super thick balm that absorbs pretty quickly. And while it does seem a tad on the expensive side, even for Clinique, a little dab goes a long way. April Rain Skin Science Will See You In Your Dreams

How can you not be intrigued looking at APRiL RAIN SKIN SCIENCE’s Night Rainew ($129/1.7oz @ aprilrainskinscience.com) product? It’s a Lucite teardrop! But it ain’t no common one. Inside is the latest in peptide technology, or in this case, they call it a HydroPeptide, which is 21 hydrating elements and organic Buddleja (you know I had to google this word and found that it is group of anti-oxidant-rich plants) and Echinacea. I thought Echinacea was only for colds and rarely in beauty. I’ll have to look that one up too to see why it’s in here.

So what do I have to report back to you on this on?

April-Rain-Skin-Science-Night-Rainew-4

Very nice and hydrating. I know you can say that about a lot of skin creams but this one made my skin feel supple for a long time, like a couple of hours. I’ve had the humidifier on every night for the past two months as this cold-ish weather just sucks the life out of my throat and can only imagine what it does deep down in my skin so I’m glad that this season I have had this one on hand for my skin.

Their formula is also paraben and phthalate free and great for all skin types.

And their website gives us a reminder not to forget the décolleté. There and the neck are always two places I never forget when apply face moisturizer. Do you forget?

They are slowly rolling out more products in the line so I’ll let you if we are able to try them out.

Be All That You Can BE

BecomegroupI’ve been testing some great skin care lines from Australia and BECOME Age Resistant Skincare is another new favorite from the region. I tried three skin basics and one treatment and they all performed as promised. The Eye Cream is super hydrating and has a nice creamy texture, which I like for that dry area around my eyes ($39/.53oz). The Day Cream also has a creamy texture and is not heavy or greasy. I definitely feel my face is getting the protection it needs. It has a patented peptide blend that smoothes and firms. ($49/1.4oz). The Reveal Enzyme Peel ($49/1.8oz) is great for the face, but also works well as a nice treat for your hands. They need TLC too! A gentle peel exfoliates and aloe leaf juice soothes. This is not a harsh peel! Call 1-877-BECOME2 to get set up as a customer after you check them out @ becomebeauty.com ~Lisa

Get With the System

I love discovering new skin care systems and DR. LEWiNN’S PRiVATE FORMULA is rating at the top of my list this week. His research center chose Australia for testing because of the harsh climate. Subsequently this line was named theDrlewinns Top Performing Premium Skin Care brand in Australia for the last 8 years. 8 YEARS! Some of the cutting edge products I really enjoyed are: The Ultra R4 Recovery Masque ($55/3.5oz) stimulates natural production of collagen using patented peptides. I followed that with the Ultra R4 Rejuvenation Serum ($69/1oz), which enhances firmness and elasticity of the skin. The UltraR4 Eye Repair Cream ($65/1.8oz) has a “collagen” peptide that is considered to be an alternative to a collagen injection. At night, I top all this off with Ultra R4 Regenerative Night Cream ($75/1.7oz), which is designed to boost skin’s natural regeneration process. It also contains a unique extract of Resurrection Plant with scientifically proven ability to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and dramatically improve skin’s moisture and texture. There are many other quality pieces in this great skin care system so give them a try. All @ drlewinns.com ~Lisa
