Fall Product Standouts – Hair

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo

Fall-2011-Hair-Product-Picks My hair is all over the place right now; this in-between season always seems to wreak havoc on my strands. Does it need more moisture? Maybe not use the blow dryer so often? I’m not really sure but these below three seem to be helping me keep is steady Freddie until the cold comes on.

NEXXUS Color Assure Radiant Color Care Leave-in Conditioning Spray ($14.99/10.1oz @ Walmart stores nationwide) – I’ve learned the hard way that not all leave-in conditioners are created equal. This one uses grapefruit extract, coconut oil, and honey extract to add extra moisture to strands to keep hair color longer.

PUREOLOGY ColorStylists Antibreakage Twist ($24/2.5oz @ pureology.com for salons nationwide) – one of two new products just added to their ColourStylist line, this paste provide a mild hold and texture and totally safe for color-treated strands.

DAVINES OI/OIL ($39/4.56oz @ davines.com for salon locations) – I’m a huge fan of hair oils and this one seems like the next generation of them. It’s pretty light and its main oil comes from a beta-carotene and antioxidant-rich Roucou Oil.

Hair Products to Help the Transition

The season once again is on deck to change! Will you be updating your hair styling products and tools? Here are a few to get you at least thinking about it.

Nexxus-Bumble-and-Bumble-Redken-Spornette-Sephora-hair-care-brushes NEXXUS Maxximum Super Hold Styling and Finishing Mist ($10.55/10oz @ nexxus.com) – transitioning from one season to another can wreak havoc on strands. They don’t know what to do! This one will keep strays and flyaways at bay.

REDKEN Guts 10 Volume Spray Foam ($6.99/2oz @ redken.com) – we have all seen that big hair is coming back in a big way. And where does big hair start? The roots of course! This foam will boost strands to get them standing at attention.

BUMBLE AND BUMBLE Mending Masque ($37/5oz @ bumbleandbumble.com) – let’s face it, if your hair is ratty and out of shape, nothing you try is going to help so make sure you get it back in line with a good hair mask like this one.

A change in the season means a change in my hair brush. After all, the materials that style and go though your hair have a life span as well. And they don’t have to look all boring and functional anymore. Take these two for example. This SPORNETTE Hypnotique #5902 Purple Paddle Brush ($26.95 @ spornette.com) combines nylon and 100% boars bristles and is a great staple everyday brush while SEPHORA’s Bamboo Boar Brush ($12 @ sephora.com) has a ceramic-coated barrel and, as the name states, all boar hair bristles. And the thinness of it makes it easy for wielding.

Does Nexxus ProMend Kit Really Work?

Kristin-Merkling I sometimes don’t feel quite qualified to speak about a product and this is the case with this next one from NEXXUS. It’s their ProMend Kit that is supposed to actually repair split ends. Impossible, I thought so I decided to bring the products to my trusty hair and makeup artist extraordinaire Kristin Merkling (HairbyKristin.com). She’s seen it all and could really give these a good run.

Nexxus Know Straight!

Nexxus-Straightening-Spray Now here’s one with an interesting twist. NEXXUSSleek Memory Straightening Smoothing Spray ($11.99/7.5oz @ ulta.com), like the name says, has memory, or at least makes your hair remember. Huh? It uses an exclusive ingredient, NexxuSphere time-release technology, to train strands to return to a straight style every time you use it. And boy, was I up for the challenge with this one! So with bottle in hand, I headed to the bathroom to give it a try. Not just once but every morning this week and I gotta say, my hair seems straighter than it usually does or at least seems to just go straighter. And this one has ingredients that protect hair from heat damage. So if you like wearing your hair straight, this is a good one to give a test run to see how it works for you.
