Review+Swatches - Sephora + Pantone Universe Elemental Energy Lacquers

The SEPHORA + Pantone Universe just put out some really interesting nail polishes adding to the Elemental Energy Lacquers that already exist, bringing the total to 8 different shades.

These lacquers are all about four dimensional effects: earthly chrome, watery shimmer, airy sparkle and fiery glitter. Wear each by themselves or layer them! And with the swatches I took, I only applied one coat of the orange. It's that good!

Shown here: Earth Confetti and Fire Jaffa Orange $10 @ sephora.com

A Nail Polish that Requires on ONE Coat? It Exists ...

Face-Stockholm-Nail-Polish-in-#168-main
I think I may have found the most intensely pigment nail polish I’ve ever tried. It’s FACE STOCKHOLM’s Nail Polish and I tried it in #168 Cream Crocus, a purple eggplant color I received it in from this beauty box and thought it would be a nice change of pace from my usual red.

Now I’ve tried a few of the products from this brand but it was many years ago when my site was a monthly and I can’t even recall what they were exactly but I don’t think I ever tried any of the polishes. Theirs are 3-FREE and come in 99 different colors – from neons to nudes to dark, vampy burgundy, so you will find your color with these.

So back to applying this polish -  I prepped my toes like I normally do and applied one coat and waited for it to dry. When I went to apply a second, I really didn’t need it at all but I did, just in case. But back to the one coat, how often do you come across a polish that is so pigmented that it would look just fine with one coat? In the pic, I could have been more precise about the application and got a perfect application, which I probably should have for this post, but you get the gist of it, right?

And it’s been chip-free for the past 8 days. Now I’m dying to try other shades from the brand as this could be my Hall of Fame polish brand. I’ll keep you posted! $12 @ facestockholm.com.

Have you tried their polishes? Do tell in the comments!

Review+Swatches - Estee Lauder-The Metallics Pure Color Nail Lacquers

I love metallic makeup! Shadows, lippies and nails but sometimes they can cross the line and look, well, too 70’s (think baby blue eye shadow) but this new one from ESTEE LAUDER is certainly now, and no baby blue! It’s The Metallics, Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer Color Collection and is hitting counters this month.

What it is: The evolution of heavy metal reaches nails in a unique brushed, reflective finish with the NEW Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer. Born out of a fusion of refined pearls and aluminum platelets, this new high-impact finish saturates nails in a flash richly pigmented chromatic color. The multi-faceted spectrum of color-enriched metalized shades range from dusty rose gold to smokey deep platinum, creating a new dimension of confident style and expressive attitude.

Review+Swatches - China Glaze Fancy Pants & Snap My Dragon

As you can see from my lack of nail polish posts in the last few months is due to the whole category becoming more MAC-like by the day - too many releases for me to keep up! Plus I just don’t have good nails to do swatching every week (the ones shown in the picture here are these, which I love wearing but they too wreak havoc on my nail after wearing for a few weeks. Le sigh).

But there are some that recently delighted me. While I’m not much of a pastel person, two colors that really jumped out at me from CHINA GLAZE’s  Avant Garden Collection were Snap My Dragon and Fancy Pants. So rich and bold and well, on the normal side of things rather than the texturized and fancy-schmacyness going on in the polish category these days. Don’t get me wrong, I can certainly appreciate nail art and all the different things you can do with it, but it’s just not for my digits. I like my polish straight up!

Review+Swatches - Chanel Spring 2013 Nail Colour Collection

At no other time do I feel beauty A.D.D. then when it comes to the category of nail polish. Say I’m feeling a beige and put it on my 10 digits, about 1 to 2 days later, I’m ready for a vibrant pink, and then 1 to 2 days after that, it’s time for something shimmery and vampy and it’s not always in this order! I just can’t make up my mind when it comes to polishes so most of the time, I just don’t wear anything because as soon as one nail begins to chip, it all has to come off. Yup, call me high maintenance in the nail department, I guess.

But I do have to say, these 3 Le Vernis Nail Colours from CHANEL Spring Color Collection, seem to be covering all my color bases.

Review&Swatches - Chanel Holiday 2012 Nail Colour in Malice

We all remember CHANEL’s Vamp polish from a few years back and I think I like this deep red black that is Malice Nail Colour better. Part of the reason is I don’t think it will scare men as much!

It too is from the Holiday 2012 Makeup Collection, Elats d Soir de Chanel, and two coats will do ya.

Review+Swatches - Floss Gloss Pro Nail Lacquers

You’d have to be living under a rock not to know how huge nail polish is these days. The market seems saturated but there is a new brand amongst us called FLOSS GLOSS. So what makes their Nail Lacquers different from other lines? The line was launched in 2011 after one of the founders just couldn’t find colors she liked and started mixing her own.

Besides these being free of the yucks found in cheap-o polish like DBP, Toluene, and Formaldehyde, they also pride themselves in getting full coverage on the nail with just one swipe.
