Review: Nutra Nail Gel Perfect UV-Free Gel-Color

Nutra-Nail-Gel-Perfect-Gel-ColorThere’s a new nail color line on the market from the NUTRA NAIL line and it’s along the line of this trend but it’s all in the privacy of your own home. It’s their new Gel Perfect UV-Free Gel-Colors and allows you to get on with things quicker than normal nail polish. As in, paint, wait a few seconds, coat, coat, wait a few more, it’s dry and go. Ok, a little more time than that (set time is 5 minutes total) but you get the point.

Remember the quick dry nail polishes that were/are on the market and how excited everyone was when first trying them and how awful they turned out to be because they chipped really quickly? Think of this one as the application and quick drying power of those but it lasts on nails like a regular manicure so longer than those. And it’s quite shiney!

And removing the polish is easy too. They sell packets of No-Mess Express Gel Perfect Remover that take the color off lickety split.

As far as colors go, I had better luck with the dark colors than the sheers. Passion (red) was beautiful!

Polishes $11.99, Remover $5.99/pack of 5 pads @ nutranail.com.

Cybelesays Special Report - Hello Shellac!

Remember this feature from last year with the new trend for the long-lasting manicure? Well CND’s version, called Shellac Hybrid Nail Color, is upon us. It's the same base coat, color, top coat then cure with a UV light type of process and the formula is 3-Free (no formaldehyde, tolune or DBP) like the other company I tried last year but did this Shellac live up to the hype? How to Get the Bleeding Texture Look on Nails

I read last week that texture on nails was one of the big buzz words backstage at the shows a few weeks ago. It reminded me of something I achieve totally by accident the last time I wore artificial nails and was taking them off. So I decided to do it again to see what happens.

Cybelesays Special Report - "Nice Nails, Girl!"

I can’t even begin to express the elation with this latest discovery. I’ve complained quite a bit the last few months that my nails don’t grow. They peel and are just generally blah, when it comes to cool and lady-like. I envy Scrangie and All Lacquered Up. They can apply, remove, apply and remove yet again and still have nice looking nails in the end. What is my discovery that has me simply giddy? Artificial nails as in the press on kind! And have they come a long way from the Lee Press On Nails from many moons ago. And with the economic climate, who can afford a weekly manicure at the salon. And the styles are a lot more realistic with most making short and sporty lengths to medium lengths. And the glue they use really adheres them on nicely so pop-offs are pretty rare. I’ve done quite a bit of research on the topic and here is what I can tell you.

  • Most packs contain anywhere from 24 to 48 nails so there are a lot of sizes to choose from. You WILL find your sizes.
  • Prices run between $4.99 to $7.99 a pack.
  • Like makeup, quite a few brands seem to do seasonal collections.
  • You can wear them from seven days to ten days.
  • Tip shapes range from roundish to squoval and you can get short or sporty length to a medium. Gone are the dragon claws!
  • Best variety of nails seems to be found at Rite Aid stores.
  • There was no glue that stuck out as better than another.

The major brands that make full coverage nails that I could find are Pretty Woman USA, Nail Bliss and the ones I tried below. Here are some details and observations on each.

Zoya Gives Us A Multi-Purpose Product

Zoya-3-in-1-Remover Like skin care, why can’t nail products also be multi-purpose? Well here is one that is - ZOYA Remove + Big Flipper ($9.99/8oz @ zoya.com) is a 3-in-1: nail polish remover, nail cleaner and nail prep product, and the best trait besides its polish removal ability is the despenser. It’s one like in the nail salons use where the liquid dispenses at the top. Love that! It says it has a lavender scent to it but I really wouldn’t go looking for it as it’s still polish remover and smells like one to me.

Essie Moves It Out Quickly

I really didn’t know what to expect from the new Naturally Clean nail care line from ESSIE, specifically the nail polish remover. With the green colors on the packaging, could they have created a product using green ingredients? And still be a good nail polish remover?Essie-Clean-Purifying-Nail-Polish-Remover Well I can report back to you that this Purifying Nail Polish Remover is really frikkin’ good! The 6 products in the collection use the power of botanicals, glycerin and emolients to clean, sanitize and yup, even remove nail polish. I’m pretty amazed! Not only does this remover take away your old polish but it does it quicker and easier than any polish remover I have ever used. It also contains eucalyptus oil and antioxidants so it’s doesn’t seem as harsh on nails as other removers. I have some of the other products from the collection on hand (no pun intended) so I’ll keep you posted on those. For now, this one is the star. $6/4oz, $17/16oz @ essie.com.
