Kate and May Say Hello to Eyes

Maybelline-falsies-mascara-#2 Kate-Somerville-Lash-Enhancing-Eye-Makeup-RemoverI have my favorite mascara that I’ve mentioned a ba-zillion times here so not many get thumbs up from me but this  MAYBELLINE Falsies Flared by Volum’ Express Mascara ($7.77 @ drugstores nationwide) does. Not only does it define lashes but it gives them volume and lots of it with the Kera fibers in it. Yes, things can get clumpy if you are not used to a serious mascara, like this one, so I would say this one is not for the novice.

KATE SOMERVILLE True Lash ($35/1.7oz @ katesomerville.com) comes into the fold when it’s time to remove the above mascara. Part of the reason I am so loyal to … this one, is how easy it is to remove. Taking off most mascaras takes a lot of tugging and pulling in the eye area and even then, most don’t remove every speck of black but this one does. It also conditions lashes, hydrates the whole eye area with chamomile, aloe vera and a major ingredient called SymLash226 Complex that boosts keratin production, so more lashes.

Nyx Cosmetics Solves Your Makeup Woes

NYX-Cosmetics-Eye-&-Lip-Makeup-Remover Now don’t go looking for organic and natural ingredients in a makeup remover. From what I’ve seen, you just won’t find one out there! So my goal was to find one that does the job but doesn’t cost a lot. I will pay a pretty penny for a good quality product but a $30 makeup remover is just not something I am comfortable buying. This Eye & Lip Makeup Remover from NYX COSMETICS is one I’ve been using the past few weeks and am very satisfied with the results and for only $8/2.8oz @ nyxcosmetics.com. Even though I don’t wear waterproof mascara, I do wear this and a few of these and at the end of the day, they are hard to get off. Well a few swipes of some of this with a saturated cotton ball and it removes the color lickety-split! While it does contain one questionable ingredient in it, it does have a dash of orange and papaya fruit extracts, so it’s not all chemicals.

This product contains  Benzyl Alcohol, which is seen by some as an ingredient of concern. Read my ingredient disclaimer here.

Klorane Makes Removing Easy

Klorane-Eye-Make-up-Remover-Lotion Removing waterproof mascara got you down? KLORANE Soothing Makeup Remover Lotion pads ($15/50 pads @ drugstore.com) are infused with cornflower extract, which somehow helps remove even the most stubborn makeup. The pads are alcohol-free, oil-free and are perfect for those with really sensitive eyes. I can’t tell you how many face and eye products I have used that have stung my eyes. Hello? Near the eyes should = non-stinging, right? You’d be surprised! I’m happy to report that these are made with a pH identical to that of human tears so swipe with confidence.

Get Your Cucumber On

Don’t you love the smell of cucumbers? Not only do they smell great in beauty products but because of their high water content, the ingredient is great for rehydrating the skin. For the face, it can perk up the complexion and as we all know, sooth puffy eyes. So if you like the ingredient for its medicinal purposes or you just like the smell, here are three to help you get your cucumber on.

  • JOHNSON’S Baby Powder in Cooling Cucumber Melon ($4.29/15oz @ drugstore.com)
  • BATH AND BODY WORKS Wallflowers Home Fragrance in Cucumber ($12/2 bulbs @ bathandbodyworks.com)
  • SKINLITE Make-up Cleansing Tissues Cucumber Extract Sheets ($3.95/30 sheets @ amazon.com)

Pond's Makes A Glove Compartment Staple

Ponds-Wet-Towelettes

Love the bright red lipstick but not when it’s time to take it off? POND’S Clean Sweep Wet Cleansing Towelettes ($4.27/30 @ drugstore.com) remove any and all red lippies lickety-split. I’ve never seen anything take off lip paint to well and so thoroughly. I’ll put this one up against and liquid makeup remover any day! They come in Original Clean (infused with Triple Tea Antioxidant Complex), Age Defying (infused with Collagen and Retinol, wow!) and Micro Dermabrasion (exfoliating microbeads on one side). Face it, your skin can use a little freshen up throughout the day, so why not use one that isn’t messy like these?

For an overall deep cleansing, I would still use their Cold Cream but if you are in a hurry or on a trip, these clothes remove dirt and makeup just fine.

MUD Makes Makeup Go Bye-Bye.

Make-up-Designory-Remover-W

What's not to love about anything that can be used on the go, especially if it's going to freshen the skin up? August here in LA has been pretty hot and sticky so these MAKE-UP DESIGNORY (MUD)'s Makeup Remover Wipes ($18/40 wipes @ mudshop.com) have been a staple in my oversized purse all month. Each moist towelette not only contains cleansing ingredients but olive oil and vitamin E. And who better to test them out to the max then their New York and Los Angeles based makeup schools? They just gotta work well at removing makeup and dirt, right?

Eve Lom Sure Gives A Thorough Cleansing

Eve-Lom-Cleanser

EVE LOM = totally luxury and I finally had a chance to try some products in the line. For the past two weeks, I have been using the Cleanser ($95/3.3oz, $160/6.8oz @ beauty.com) to clean my face and take off makeup at the end of each day. And I gotta say … wow! I really like it the texture of this one. Usually I test a face product for at least a month before I decide how I like it but this was an easy one. It’s made up of four aromatic oils to clean and decongest the skin and it’s quite the favorite in the UK. This one does contain a few ingredients that some can be sensitive to: lanolin, clove and eucalyptus so do a spot test.

Nourishing Skin Care From the French

Patyka-Demaquillant-Intense Lately I’ve been using the hard stuff to clean and remove my makeup at the end of the day. What is it exactly? Cold cream. But for some reason I have not been liking it as much as I usually do. So in my quest for something lighter but just as good, I got lucky with the French brand, PATYKA’s, Biokaliftin Demaquillant Intense ($42/3.38oz @ patykausa.com). This is an organic cosmeceutical line and their products carry the ECOCERT stamp so they never use any synthetics or fillers. This is probably the purest brand I've come across this year. This cleanser is formulated with over 86% certified organic plant extracts including rose floral water (which you can smell), cornflower extract, sesame seed oil and palmarosa extract, to name a few. While it didn’t leave my face as dewy as the cold cream, it felt hydrated and not tight at all. I’ve gone to bed sans night cream every night this week and my skin doesn’t seem to be suffering (parched) each morning.
