Tools Of The Trade In Detail

Here’s our last installment of great makeup brushes and we thought we’d give you our picks for those that specialize in getting to the details of life (the face). I can’t tell you how many times I have picked up a brow brush or concealer brush and the bristles are too rough for even painting a room. So pick up one of these babies for a smooth finish all around! From left to right:Brushesfeature

Kabuki Krazy

Who doesn’t love the great kabuki?! They are easy to maneuver and don’t take up a lot of room on the dressing table or purse. They originated in Japan and were part of the geisha and kabuki theater culture. I think it’s one of the easiest for even the novice to use so here’s some we put our stamp of approval all over in continuing our coverage of great makeup brushes.

Tools Of The Trade

In continuing our coverage of great makeup brushes, we have some more recommendations. Some are brand new and some are not but they all get the thumbs up from us.

Brushes

URBAN DECAY’s new Big Buddha Brush ($36 @ urbandecay.com) is their answer to the kabuki brush. It’s 3” tall and 2” wide and made of the manmade fiber, Taklon.
Use the tip of TRiSH McEVOY’s #23 Angled Crease Contour ($32 @ nordstrom.com) to get color deep into the crease and then use the flat part to blend the color in.
JAPONESQUE Travel Angled Foundation ($23 @ amazon.com) brush is made from Taklon and is pointed to help you get into those corners around the nose.
DEBRA MACKI Angled Blush Brush ($28 @ debramacki.com) is made with pony hair and the angle helps sculpt the perfect cheek.
ESSENCE OF BEAUTY Blender Brush ($7.99 @ cvs.com) is made of natural hair and especially for mineral makeup and will blend, blend, blend your bronzer, foundation or blush. Big recommendation.

New Tools Of The Trade

SONiA KASHUK just came out with seven new makeup brushes for the spring. I have really grown to become a big fan of her tools in general and these are no exception. Besides being great quality brushes that don’t break the bank, they are made from synthetic materials instead of real animal hair.

My favorites out of the new ones are the:

  • SoniabrushesSynthetic Flat Top Blusher $14.99 (this is my overall favorite)
  • Multi Purpose Nylon Brush $5.99
  • Synthetic Crease Shadow Brush $9.99
  • Highlighting Brush $12.99

Get any of these @ target.com

These brushes got us to thinking, there are probably a lot of new brushes coming out for the season. We will be highlighting some of the best ones in the coming weeks so make sure to check them out.

We also got a hold of her new Spring 2008 Color Collection. The feature with our picks coming soon.
