The Makeup Show Haul

I attended The Makeup Show in Los Angeles a few weeks ago and picked up some products I’m uber excited to try out! Some I had not seen before and some I had on my list to pick up.

Since it’s tax season, I had to really be watchful on my dollars this time around and thankfully the show had a blogger preview so some of the products that were on my list were in the bag the show gave us. Yeah!! I've just started trying some of them out so do you see anything you like?

1. ESUM Pro Finishing Sponges ($20/2 sponges @ – here’s a new twist on the makeup sponge – these combines the wedge and oval sponge in one so you can get every inch you’re trying to get to.

2. BÉSAME COSEMTICS Boudoir Short Hair Contour Brush ($48 @ – this one is in the same category as those oval brushes that are blowing up everywhere. It feels so nice on the skin and is able to get into all the angles on the face … flawlessly!

3. SENNA COSMETICS Lash Detail Mascara ($20 @ – I’m really picky about my mascara and don’t like many. I’ve worn this one twice and what I like about it is the super skinny fine brush that seems to be able to maneuver color on ever lash. If you’re looking for natural looking lashes, this might be one to try.

4. NYX COSMETICS Soft Matte Lip Crème in Transylvania ($5.99 @ – I’ve been needing this shade in my life since it came out and has been sold out at my Ulta since it came out.

5. SEPHORA PRO Press Full Coverage Complexion Brush #66 ($36 @ – this seems to be Sephora’s answer to the oval brush craze and I can’t wait to see how it performs!

6. SMASHBOX Photo Finish Primer Water ($32/3.9oz @ and – there’s been quite a buzz on this primer water since it emerged recently. Can’t wait to try this out!

7. VERA MONA Color Switch Duo ($19.99 @ – a genius product! Stroke your brush against the black to remove the color so it’s ready to dip into the next shade. And the white middle part can be soaked in water if you feel like applying shadow with a wet brush.

8. KAT VON D Tattoo Liner in Trooper ($19 @ – from the queen of liner. Need I say more?

9. PUR Browder Perfecting Brow Powder in Medium Brown ($22 @ – this combines a powder with fibers to help fill in sparse areas. Interesting application pointer!

10. MAKE UP FOR EVER Pro Sculpting Lip 2-in-1 Lip Sculpting Pen in #40 Carmine Red ($27 @ – quite a unique twist on giving lips a multi-dimensional look. Can’t wait to try this out!

Gift Pick: For the True Beauty Lover in Your Life

What It Is: URBAN DECAY Ocho Loco 2 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Set - $59 @

STILA Art of the Fine Line - $39 @

Why I Like It: Because both these brands make the greatest quality eye liners on the planet (liquid and pencil) and the makeup lover in your life (even if it’s you) should be exposed to them, if they aren’t already.

This set from Urban Decay contains 8 of their 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils (ALL FULL SIZE!!) and 5 of the shades are new! Ok, let me contain my excitement a little and go through the shades: Roach (deep copper brown shimmer), Twice Baked (rich brown satin w/gold micro-sparkle new), Crave (deepest, darkest brown-black matte new), Perversion (blackest black matte), Deep End (bright metallic peacock shimmer), Mars (bright metallic green shimmer new), Ultraviolet (bright blue-violet shimmer new) and Tornado (dark eggplant pearl new) and a neon green Grindhouse Double Barrel Sharpener. Woo-hoo for the bonus product!

Leading Liquid Liners for Holiday Looks

URBAN DECAY Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner ($19 @ – glitter fits every look when it comes to the holidays and this one suspends it in a clear base so it stays in place for hours. Color picks: Amp (light blue w/iridescent glitter), Spandex (deep blue-black w/iridescent glitter and shown in pic) and Glamrock (silver glitter).

JANE COSMETICS Water-Resistant Liquid Eye Liner in Metallic Platinum ($8 @ – there’s something about this metallit color (there's no glitter in it) that really puts eyes center stage. It looks like liquid mercury on the skin! Wear it alone or use it to “highlight” another color liner on lids by putting it right next to another. Available in 13 colors total and now I'm curious if the other shades have the same effect!

DOLCE & GABBANA Glam Liner – Intense Liquid Eyeliner in Black Intense ($34 @ – I don’t care what time of year it is, you must have a good quality liquid black liner in your arsenal. And if you need to replenish some shades, this one comes in 6 other colors.

Finally, the Longevity of a Beauty Product’s Claim Is True!

We’ve all seen the exaggerations when it comes to the titles of beauty products – “12 Hour Wear…” here, “14 Hour,” there. So what’s in a name? It’s not illegal for them to do this but it is quite misleading. But one has come along from the LANCOME line that speaks the truth. It’s their Artliner 24H Bold Color Precision Eyeliner ($30 @ Now what could that 24H stand for, hmmm? 24…hues? 24…hairs? 24…Hours perhaps? Well I got more than 24 hours of wear out of these … on my arm! That’s right. I was swatching the colors one eve and it didn’t fade or flake off well past the 24-hour mark. I even had two people ask me if the slashes were tattoos!

Spring Color Must Haves

Bright pinks, reds, corals, nude and even seafoam are all hot colors for the spring. What are you updating your collection with this season? Here are my favorites right now. (L to R clockwise).

Spring-Color-Must-Haves-2013L’OREAL Infallible Liquid Eyeliner ($8.95 @ – When they come out with anything Infallible, I listen! A black liquid liner is very basic and crosses all seasons. This .4mm felt tip pen is pretty easy to apply and lasts for hours.

NARS Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner in Barrow Street ($24 @ – I’m pretty obsessed with this seafoam green color. I have two dressed in the color and jumped for joy when I saw this liner in the same color. And it looks great on the waterline!

NAKED PRINCESS Naked Shine Luscious Lip Gloss in Barely Naked ($26 @ – a great nude gloss is hard to find since most don’t show up. This one does, in spades but oh so naturally.

BARE ESCENTUALS Buxom Hot Escapes Bronzer in Tahiti ($28 @ – what would the season be without a face highlighting bronzer? I’ve been using this golden bronze color just under my cheek bones to help define them.

BENEFIT Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Poutrageous! ($16 @ – coral is not going anywhere this season and it’s hotter than ever, so if you’re feeling up to making a statement, take on this bright pink-coral color.

ZOYA PixieDust Nail Lacquer in Godiva ($10 @ – textured polishes are so hot right now and this PixieDust kind from Zoya are at the top of the list of must-haves. This Godiva one described as a soft nude with sugared sparkle. Yup, that’s exactly what it looks like on nails.

SEPHORA Colorful Eye Shadow in My Boyfriend’s Jeans No 19 ($13 @ – this dark denim with just a touch of shimmer blue is a nice alternative to always using black to contour your eyes.

Disclosure: Some of these items were provided for review purposes. Some I bought.

Review - NYX Cosmetics The Curve

I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to ergonomic beauty tools as they more times than not do not work. So yes, I didn’t dive into NYX COSMETICSThe Curve with the most open mind so did using it change my mind?

Review+Swatches - Tarina Tarantino Eyelicity Glitter Liners

My wallet wants everything TARINA TARANTINO puts out but alas, my reality is that I can only afford some of her makeup right now. But that’s ok as I think these Eyelicity Glitter Liners are well worth the investment. Who doesn’t love a glitter liquid liner? A good one, that is. I’ve come across way too many where the glitter pieces are just too big but these are finely dispersed in the formula and each of the below colors reflects that light nicely. Shown here - Black Diamond (black liner with iridescent glitter) and Magic Mirror (micro silver glitter). $16 each @
