4 Utterly Weightless Lipppies

There’s nothing better than catching a glimpse in a mirror to give myself a quick makeup check only to see that my lip color is still going strong. This got me thinking and concluding that I like when I can’t feel when I have a lippie on.

It seems that I’m having some luck when it comes to the weightlessness of a lip color with these liquid lip colors some of the brands are coming out with. I mean, the colors are nice and fresh, they don’t dry my lips out and the pigments are superb! But, not all liquid lipsticks are made the same and some formulas can bleed. So when it comes to weightlessness, which ones are my favorites? Here are 4 that are scoring big points from me.

4-Utterly-Weightless-Lippies

KAT VON D Everlasting Love Liquid Lipstick $19 @ sephora.com
Available in 12 shades and don’t look for any beiges or really light ones in this collection! One swipe of the wand across lips is pretty much all you will need but just know that these seem to set to a really(it) matte finish, so I would use a little bit of gloss on top but not too much as too much can start to break down the product on the lips.
Yes, these are matte but they don’t seem to dry lips out probably because they are made with vitamins A, C and E. And there are no parabens inside these.

STILA Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick $22 @ stilacosmetics.com and ulta.com
10 colors available. Once these set, there’s no transfer and well, no heavy weight on lips! Yeah. No parabens, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals or phthalates inside but they do contain vitamin E and avocado oil for moisture.

LIPSENSE BY SENEGENCE $25 @ sengence.com
As far as I know, this brand pretty much started the trend of long-wearing lip color. 69 shades strong – from light beiges to bright pinks and stark reds and there are sheers, mattes, sparkles and frosts finishes available. And to use this brand, it requires 3 coats allowing each coat to dry for 3 to 5 seconds before applying the next.
For the best results, I would also recommend dabbing on a little bit of gloss or balm as this one really dries to a matte finish. They also sell Ooops! Lip Color Remover ($10), if you make a mistake and need to remove some of it because once it’s on, it’s on for quite a few hours.

LIME CRIME Velvetines $20 @ limecrime.com
7 shades available with most selling out quickly so if you see the one you want in stock, don’t wait! These are a little different than the above ones in that I don’t think I would put them in the category of a liquid lipstick. I mean, they are closer to a liquid lipstick than not but what they are exactly still alludes me! I just know I like the 2 I’ve tried.
These too dry down to a matte finish but it’s a velvety finish and I don’t find I need to apply anything on top when wearing them.

Review+Swatches - Dolce&Gabbana Classic Cream Lipstick

DOLCE & GABBANA just added some new Classic Cream Lipstick colors as part of the Spring 2014 collection and I’ve got two for you to see! Bonbon (pale pink) and Bellissima (orange-based pink).

The quality of the shiny gold tube, embossed with the Dolce&Gabbana logo, and rose scent of the actual lipstick is classy and makes me feel like a true woman. And the cap makes a “click” when it closes, which was specially designed to evoke the sound made by lipstick tubes in the fifties. I guess I never really noticed that most lipstick tubes don’t make this noise anymore. Will have to pay attention more!

Hello Inglot! How's Your Freedom Palette?

Have you heard of the Polish line, INGLOT, yet? I first saw them at The Makeup Show about 3 years ago making their stateside debut and wow, was their booth busy! This Freedom System palette is my first experience with the brand so let’s explore how it works.

What It Is: A palette you can customize by picking your own eye shadows, brow colors, lipsticks and concealers. First, pick a blank palette by selecting the number of pans it holds (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 20 and 40, price range $7 for the single to $39 for the 40). Then choose your color pans. From eye shadows to brow powders to lipsticks, you can put one together for each type of look you wear, like daytime, to a night on the town and even one for your purse.

5 Must-Have Summer Products

5-...-Must-Have-Summer-Products
A Makeup Primer
SKINDINAVIA The Makeup Primer Spray ($49/8oz, $35/4oz @ skindinavia.com) – a skin primer is going to help your makeup stay on your face where it belongs and not melt off any quicker then it has to. This one is the first face mist primer I’ve seen and I love that you just mist it on and then you’re onto your next step of foundation. Also available in an oil-free version.

Waterproof Mascara - URBAN DECAY Cannonball Ultra Waterproof Mascara ($20 @ sephora.com and urbandecay.com) – nothing worse than coming out of the pool or ocean with black mascara running down your cheeks. Not sexy.

A Continuous Spray SunscreenHAWAIIAN TROPIC SPF 30 Dry Oil Clear Spray Sunscreen ($8.99/6oz @ ulta.com) – I’ll use a dry oil over a heavy lotion any day during the hot summer months and this one has sunscreen in it? Woo-hoo, double-duty, baby! And this is one of those continuous spray ones so you can get in in those hard to reach places on the body!

Non-Moving Lip ColorKAT VON D Everlasting Liquid Love ($19 @ sephora.com) – who wants their hair getting stuck in lip gloss when the summer winds blow? Not me! This one dries down to a super matte finish; almost too matte but better to have color then none at all. And these lasts for hours on lips! Shown here in Bauhau5, a deep raspberry.

Bright TipsNAILS INC. Gel Effect Polish ($14 @ sephora.com) – I just picked up this bright red called St. James shown here last weekend (Mayfair Lane also shown here, a dusty pale pink) and wow, does this polish totally rock! I was sick of taking the time to put on a flawless manicure on my fingernails only to have it start chipping within 24-hours. This formula uses a plasticiser technology to create the glossiness and longevity of a salon gel polish but without the price tag or removal process.

Review+Swatches - Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick

I think the lipstick formula that tops my list these days has to be liquid lipsticks. The colors, the texture, the longevity of them, they just seem to perform really well on my lips. The latest to hit the market with a total buzz is TOO FACED Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick ($21 @ sephora.com and toofaced.com) and these seem to be right up my alley, but are they really?

What I'm Loving Right ... Now!

What-I'm-Using-Right-...-Now-Lorac-Sum-Bum-Escada-Dolce-&-Gabbana-Venus-Snap-Razor
LORAC Lip Luxe 8 Hour Lip Color
in Orchid ($16 @ loraccosmetics.com) – this color is so right now! It’s not the typical red I tend to gravitate towards and wow, does it last a long time on my lips. And it’s infused with good stuff like Acai Berry, Pomegranate, Grape Seed and vitamins C & E, so glad to have this on my lips for hours.

ESCADA Born in Paradise EDT ($45/1oz, $45/1.6oz, $75/3.3oz @ sephora.com) – I think half the country has been praying for spring and this new scent from Escada just brings my nose to it full throttle! The notes are sweet and springy – green apple, guava, watermelon, pineapple, coconut milk, jasmine tea, all on a base of sandalwood, cedarwood and musk.

SUM BUM Continuous Spray Sunscreen ($15.99/6oz @ trustthebum.com) – every season it’s a good idea to update your sunscreen and this season I’m trusting the Bum!  Available in SPF 15, SPF 30, SPF 50 and SPF 70, I think one of these will have you cover (no pun intended) and since the continuous spray is widely available, is there any other way to go?

DOLCE & GABBANA The Brow Liner - Shaping Eyebrow Pencil ($45 @ saksfifthavenue.com) – when I first saw under the cap, it instantly reminded me of this one with its teardrop shape. Though I’m a fan of a harder formula like this one, I wouldn’t say this one is soft by any means, and, dare I say, I think that it lasts longer on my brows than my Holy Grail one. Yikes! Available in 4 shades,

GILLETTE Venus Snap Razor ($12.99 @ drugstore.com) – yup it’s cute (so tiny and colorful), yup it’s compact (fits in the palm of your hand), and yup it has 5 blades. Weren’t we up to 4 last check? So now here’s 5! And it’s surprisingly easy to wield in the shower and the handy blue case makes it a travel no brainer.

Review+Swatches - BITE Beauty Matte Lip Crayons

Kind of obsessed with bright lip colors so when I got hold of BITE BEAUTY Matte Crème Lip Crayons ($24 @ sephora.com), ooo, I was in heaven! I mean, look at these juicy bright shades! And each triple-milled lippie contains orange peel wax, which makes these smell great too, organic fruit butters, jojoba and castor oil and 5mg of resveratrol to fight free radicals … on the lips. I didn’t know lips aged really. We know around them does but on them?

And one other question is that with all those butters in the formula, how in the heck do these maintain a matte finish? This is true technology at its finest cuz I’m truly wow’d by these.
