There’s nothing more classic and understated than the nude lip and nail. It’s polished, looks unintentional and goes with everything. LAURA MERCIER just came out with some called the Summer Nudes Collection – 6 Nail Lacquers and 6 Lip Glacé lip glosses.
Let’s look closer at two of the lippies.
BARE ESCENTUALS just came out with some new lippies call Marvelous Moxie Lipsticks ($18 @ bareescentuals.com). Launching this month, the collection is 18 colors strong and I can’t tout these more. Not only is the pigment off the chain (the swatches I did for this are 1 swipe!), but for a seemingly everyday lipstick, they last longer than ones I tried. I mean, I got about 4 hours off of these, which is almost unheard of for a non longwearing lippie, right?
MAKEUP FOREVER’s Aqua Rouge are some of my fave long-wearing lippies and they just came out with this super bright one as part of their Summer 2013 Collection, #16 Fuschia. If you like ‘em bright, this is one to check out.
Part of ESTEE LAUDER’s new 2013 Spring Collection is a really hot pink lipstick called Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in Fuchsia Fever. It’s very close to one of my all time favorite pinks from the brand called, Fuchsia Velvet. So how do they compare? Click after the jump to find out!
Either the size of the text on the bottom of NARS’ lip glosses is getting smaller and smaller or I’m going blind. I could barely read the name on this new Larger Than Life color called Paris Follies. It’s a bright flamingo pink and I had really high hopes for the color pay off as the others I’ve tried were really great.

I’ve
seen the LIME CRIME Velvetines at a few of the beauty trade shows in the past
few months and everytime I went to pick one up … sold out ! So I put it in
my file of must get and finally they are in stock on their site.
What it is: “a liquid lipstick that goes on like a gloss and dries to a matte, touch-proof finish.”
My take: yes, it’s a liquid lipstick and is very pigmented like house paint, so you must pay attention when applying it because once it sets, it stays on pretty good.
And when they say matte, they mean matte! A flat finish helps the longevity and I got about 4 hours of solid wear out of this. Touch-proof? I wouldn’t exactly say that though.
This Red Velvet is a dark blue red that seems that it will suit many skin tones but they also have Suedeberry that looks more like light more vibrant red. I might pick up that one too. $16.99 @ limecrimemakeup.com.
Seems every line has tinted lip balms that don’t look like your traditional lip balm but I ain’t complaining! I actually like them for the most part as they are packed with nourishing lip ingredients along with the color. PIXI BEAUTY has their Tinted Brilliance Balm and they just added three new colors. They describe theirs as more of a glossy gel that when the balm wears off, the lips are left with tint that your own pH level adjusts.
I've never tried these before and the one I was sent to test out was the Lucent Glow – a rose gold shimmer in translucent pink base. Nice color in the tube and on lips but this one has no stain to it – I know I was sad because I really love the stains but this one left behind a nice iridescent glow. $16 @ pixibeauty.com.
OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS is one of those indy brands that is quickly gaining ground in the world of makeup. Their Lip Tars are obtained cult status and they just came out with some new ones at The Makeup Show I attended a few weeks ago. And while people go nutty, are their funky colors for you?
