I’ve really put the lip glosses down in place of the lipsticks in the past few years but these Vamplify lip glosses from MAC might be changing my mind. They infuse a new colour-boosting technology where I don’t think any gloss can touch it when it comes to color saturation! There are 17 shades available and I didn’t have to apply layer after layer after layer of gloss just to get a hint of color.
Browsing lip gloss
From L to R clockwise:
Matte Lippie Love - CAILYN COSMETICS Extreme Matte Tint in #3 Illusionist - $19 @ cailyncosmetics.com – matte lippies are my thing right now, what can I say and this rosy nude goes great with everything.
Shadow Love - DOLCE & GABBANA Perfect Mono Cream Eye Color - $36 @ dolcegabbana.com and nordstrom.com – this is the first go-around in the category of cream shadow for the brand and I must say they’ve done a good job – 14 long-lasting shades with great textures and finishes like matte and pearls to choose from. Color picks: Dahlia (shown here) and Cocoa.
Hot Pink Lippie Love - SHU UEMURA Vision of Beauty – Rouge Unlimited in Fuschia - $30 @ shuuemura.com – I’m a sucker for hot pink lippies and this one from Shu, with its hybrid pigment, is a really nice surprise for fall.
Nude Gloss Love - AERIN Weekday Lip Gloss - $30 @ saks.com – it’s not often that I reach for a lip gloss but for some reason, a true nude lippie makes your look, well, look the most polished. And this nude gives color! Nothing worse than a nude that skimps on the pigment.
Primer Love - COVER FX Calming Primer - $38/1oz @ sephora.com – if your skin is sensitive or you have Rosacea, this face primer was made just for you. The Endothelyol inside relieves redness and they’ve also included St. John’s Wort inside to handle inflammation.
Face Illuminator Love - MIRABELLA Faerie Sparkle Swirling Pearl Brilliant - $40 @ mirabellabeauty.com – holiday parties are upon us, so why not add a touch of pearly glow to your cheeks and décolletage? This mineral-based highlighter is one of the better quality ones I’ve seen in some time.
I think pink makeup has to be my favorite this summer and here are some that are at the top of my list and in my purse!
From L to R clockwise:
COVER GIRL Colorlicious Lip Gloss in Whipped Berry from Katy Perry’s #Instaglam Collection $7.99 @ ulta.com and drugstores nationwide.
CIATÉ LashLights Luminous Lash-Tip Colour in Famous $17 only @ sephora.com.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Lip in 21C $19 @ sephora.com.
Disclosure: Some of these items were provided for review purposes. Some I bought.
It’s been a bit since I wrote about any MAC products so here is a nice colorful collection, the Moody Blooms Collection.
What It Is: Exotic, night-blooming flowers with a hint of danger inspire a hothouse of seductive shades. Sensual colours shroud eyes in earthy metallic. Eye Shadows and lips suggest hidden motives with deep blue plum and dark berry hues of Sheen Supreme Lipstick. Bronze Powder Blush provides a final adrenaline surge before these beauties dissolve into the night.

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with lip gloss. While I love the look of a nice glossy colored lip, I don’t always like the feel. Some make me feel like my lips are suffocating. Does this happen to you? I’ve mentioned it here a few times but I do have to say, these TARTE COSMETICS LipSurgence Lip Gloss ($19 @ tartecosmetics.com and sephora.com) DO. NOT. SUFFOCATE! This is an extremely important issue for me. Like if I’m wearing gloss or testing one out, if I can constantly feel it on my lips, I’ll usually not wear that one again, which is why I tend to review more lipsticks on the site.
I love exploring the summer makeup collections as it gets hotter, the colors get brighter and just more fun! The HOURGLASS COSMETICS brand is expanding their Panoramic Long Wear Lip Liner with 4 new shades and added 3 new shades to the Extreme High Shine Lip Gloss collection. Let explore the two here!
NARS COSMETICS' Summer 2014 ‘Adult Swim’ Color Collection is just hitting shelves and I got my hands on two of the items from it to show to you.
In continuing to look at CHANEL’s most recent makeup collection, Collection Notes de Printemps, we come to the lips and the glosses and lipsticks in it. I seem to have a lot of posts about lippies these days! Not sure why I am heavy in that category but I guess that’s my thing these days. So onward …
I'm starting a new on-going feature called "5 Favorite ... " where I list my 5 current favorite products in a particular category. So this week, I've chosen Pantone's Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid.
It’s almost like they picked it just because it’s such a great color when it comes to makeup! Here are my favorites when it comes to this color. Are you wearing any radiant orchid these days on your features?
THE BODY SHOP Bunch of Violets Shimmer Cubes Palette #23 ($22 @ thebodyshop.com) – this quad is great for creating an overall orchid-colored eye look. The cube shades are: Orchid Purple, Candy Pink, Pearly White and Velvet Plum. Use wet or dry and apply with brush or your finger and blend, blend, blend.
MARC JACOBS BEAUTY Shameless Bold Blush in #212 Outspoken ($30 @ sephora.com) – blend in this surprisingly workable shade on cheeks. So unexpectedly fun.
DOLCE & GABBANA The Nail Lacquer in Passione ($24 @ saks.com) – along with the Beauty Addicts, this one is a spot on perfect shade of the trending color. Gorg!
BEAUTY ADDICTS Lip Addiction in Seduce Fierce ($17 @ beautyaddicts.com) – I think this shade perfectly describes the shade. The coverage is sheer to medium depending how much you apply.
KANEBO Sensai Rouge Everlasting Colour in #115 Iwatsutsuji ($40 @ sensai-cosmetics.com) – this one is just a smidge more purple so if you want your trending shade more on that side, this would be a good one to try. And these lippies are really smooth and last quite a few hours.
Spring collections are in full swing and NARS is coming out with quite a few products/collections right now – eye and cheek palettes, a pink collection and their regular seasonal collection. I feel like they are Pulling a MAC on us (definition of Pulling a MAC - coming out with a lot of products at one time).
So let’s look at a few I received for review …
