I’ve always had a soft spot for lipsticks from the ESTEE LAUDER brand. Like their mascaras, they rarely put out a dud, it seems. So how do the new Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipsticks fare? Click after the jump to find out!

Kind of obsessed with bright lip colors so when I got hold of BITE BEAUTY Matte Crème Lip Crayons ($24 @ sephora.com), ooo, I was in heaven! I mean, look at these juicy bright shades! And each triple-milled lippie contains orange peel wax, which makes these smell great too, organic fruit butters, jojoba and castor oil and 5mg of resveratrol to fight free radicals … on the lips. I didn’t know lips aged really. We know around them does but on them?
And one other question is that with all those butters in the formula, how in the heck do these maintain a matte finish? This is true technology at its finest cuz I’m truly wow’d by these.

Like BB Creams, it seems that every line has gotten into the chubby lip balm but ain’t complaining! CLINIQUE’s Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($17 @ clinique.com and sephora.com) are big on moisture (Shea and mango butter) and have a better color payoff then most of these thick balms with color that I’ve tried.
In continuing to look at CHANEL’s most recent makeup collection, Collection Notes de Printemps, we come to the lips and the glosses and lipsticks in it. I seem to have a lot of posts about lippies these days! Not sure why I am heavy in that category but I guess that’s my thing these days. So onward …
Lots of buzz over TARTE’s latest collection of products for Spring, which includes these LipSurgence Power Pigments ($23 @ sephora.com and tartecosmetics.com). These were inspired by the newly designed cheek stains with the bright colors and new shape. These slim lippies contain the antioxidants, vitamin E and peppermint like their big brothers but these seem to have more pigment in the color, which I’m surely not complaining about!
Shown here in Blissful (dark peach coral) Exposed (nude pink)
They are pretty hydrating and the color lasts a few hours and doesn’t creep into lip creases at all. I think these could be the best lippies I’ve ever tried from tarte. Yeah!
Disclosure: Samples of these items were provided for review purposes.
How many times have you met a makeup pencil that can be applied to the lips or eyes? Well 6 out of the 12 here can be. Meet OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS new category of makeup, Cosmetic Colour Pencils ($16 @ occmakeup.com and sephora.com). These are 100% vegan and made with micro-refined mineral pigments.
They’ve covered the basics with your neutrals (Trick, Pennyroyal, Sybil), were inspired by some of the Lip Tar best-sellers (Anime, Black Dahlia, NSFW) and then gave us some we’d only expect from OCC (Pool Boy, Hoochie, Grandma). And there is even a clear invisible liner (Anti-Feathered).
MAC just came out with a new kind of lippie called Huggable Lipcolour ($20 @ maccosmetics.com).
What it is: A new high-shine formula featuring an array of creamy emollients, providing a lasting, glossy finish that leaves lips smooth and sculpted. A unique gel base allows each shade to smooth effortlessly onto the skin, with a feather-light finish giving immediate moisture, lasting up to six hours.
Shown here L to R: Commotion (deep cool plum cream), Fashion Force (cool coral cream), Touché (light beige cream), What A Feeling! (midtonal cool pink cream).
Spring collections are in full swing and NARS is coming out with quite a few products/collections right now – eye and cheek palettes, a pink collection and their regular seasonal collection. I feel like they are Pulling a MAC on us (definition of Pulling a MAC - coming out with a lot of products at one time).
So let’s look at a few I received for review …
OhMahGodBecky, Lookatherbutt, no! Look at these lippies!! Wow! They’re from the new line, ARDENCY INN, and this is my first experience trying anything from it. From what I read, the whole brand seems right up my alley. Citing the New York music scene as a major influence, they’ve divided up the makeup line three collections:
- Americana - natural tones inspired by the multi-cultural heritage and effortless beauty of downtown New York
- Punker – Edgy blacks inspired by the darkly rimmer eyes and fierce attitude of punk rockers
- Modster – Upbeat colors inspired by the mod subculture of high fashion and all-night clubs.
I of course was instantly attracted to the Modster Collection and the Long Play Lip Vinyl ($23 @ ardencyinn.com and sephora.com). These are a liquid lipsticks with mega shine and coverage. So how did they fair? Click after the jump to see!
