Review+Swatches - Benefit Cha Cha Tint Mango Stain

I’ve long been a fan of any kind of makeup stain because of the longevity, obviously. And I may have been too harsh on a product in the next line, specifically, BENEFIT COSMETICS’ stain/tint products. See, I’m just not a fan of the nail polish brushes they use to apply the color. I just don’t get it! It’s thin and makes things streaky … I just don’t get it but many must since their Benetint has topped many-a top 10 beauty lists over the years.

Addiction NV Cosmetics Stay Connected Clutch

I know it’s not because I am not in the mall, because I love to peruse the mall pretty often, but I have not really noticed many lines putting out small clutches that only hold a few key makeup items but is also big enough to snuggly fit today’s cel phones. I’m sure they totally exist but I guess I mean I have not seen any makeup lines put them out until now.

Review+ Swatches - Sephora Cream Lip Stain

I totally think of Ms. Dita when it comes to SEPHORA Cream Lip Stain in 01 Always Red ($12 @ sephora.com). It’s thee matte bold blue red I’m always looking out for. And this one is sooo pigmented and stays where you put it. If your lips are prone to lipstick bleed, just make sure to use one like this one as lippie insurance. Made with avocado oil, the formula is really lightweight and takes a steady hand when it comes to precision. Do you dare?

Fall Collection Standouts from Jemma Kidd JK

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I am so loving the latest collection from JEMMA KIDD’s JK line and it’s so affordable. Here are the details and why I am loving these two products she just put out.

Jemma-Kidd-Red-Carpet-Lip-Cheek-Tint-&-Gloss-2 Red Carpet Lip & Cheek Tint & Gloss ($18) – this one is a stain on one side and lip/eye gloss on the other but for this one it’s all about this stain. It uses the roller ball to dispense the color so just roll some on and quickly blend it in and the nice flush lasts for hours!

I also tried it as a stain for my lips but it seemed to work better on cheeks. If you just like a slight tint of color, maybe this would work for you. Available in Dress Up (berry red) and Glam up (petal pink).

Jemma-Kidd-I-Sculpt-Shadow-and-Liner-3 Harsh lines on eyes just don’t work all the time. Sometimes you just want a little smoke and applying liner and then smoking it out can be just too many steps. So I’m loving her I-Sculpt Shadow & Liner ($17) is a quick way to swipe on some gorgeous color. One side is the liner and the other is the side is a rubber smudgy with a complementing shadow color. Available in Mary Q (charcoal), Carnaby St. (brown) and Kings Road (plum).

Napoleon Perdis Gives Women What They Want

Leave it to one of the Kings of Red Carpet Makeup, NAPOLEON PERDIS, to come out with a totally red collection. His latest Better Off Red Collection lays out the best super duper red lippies for any occasion and in different finishes.

Here are the line-up of reds:

Napoleon-Perdis-Better-Off-Red-Collection
Double Agent Rouge Lip Palette ($22) – this compact contains a lipstick and a powder. Use the brush to apply the matte color and then set it with the powder.

Front Row Red Lip Gloss ($25) – this has been my go-to for the past week or so when appropriate and is for serious red-wearers. He says it will last 10 hours but I got more like 4 out of it and it seems to start fading from the waterline out, which is convenient. And the finish is super matte so why do they call it a gloss?

Lady in Red Lip Gloss ($25) – this is more of a mauvey red and probably more wearable for more people. And the finish is more of a gloss or a creamy lipstick.

Undercover Red Lip Gloss ($25) – this self-adjusting gloss goes on clear and warms up to a red all your own but I’d say it self-adjusted to more of a medium pink.

Devine Goddess Lipstick ($22) – three different reds that will highlight different skin tones. They are not new but for sure worth noting if you are looking for a staple red for your collection.

Overall there truly is a red for every skin tone in this collection. And I’m loving the vastly different finishes of each product. Check out the below video and more @ napoleonperdis.com

And in hot off the presses news, he will be making his QVC debut this Thursday, August 25th @ 10pm PDT/Friday, August 26 @ 1am EDT.

Tarte for True Blood

Tarte-for-True-Blood-Cheek-Stain-and-LipSurgence These True Blood products TARTE just came out with totally made my mouth water. It's like I'm looking at dessert! Here are the deets on each piece I tried.

Tarte for True Blood Limited-Edition Natural Cheek Stain ($30/1oz) – this is a sheer sparkling red and it is simply gorgeous on the cheeks as it just gives them a natural looking flush. It contains their t5 Super Fruit Complex, which is loaded with antioxidants.

Tarte for True Blood Limited-Edition LipSurgence Natural Lip Tint ($24) – this is an iridescent red that has a hint-of-mint (peppermint oil to be exact) in it and complements the cheek stain beautifully. Tarte simply nailed it with these two!

Swatches below – lippie on the left and the cheek stain is on the right. Both @ sephora.com.

Spring Product Picks!

Givenchy-Candide-Garden-Eye-Shadow-Quad-Smashbox-Chanel-Rouge-Coco-Shine GIVENCHY hit it on the head with this Le Prism Eyeshadow Quartet in Candide Garden from their Spring 2011 Collection. The 3 pastels are so spring and the chocolate brown is a nice contour shade that blends with each beautifully. $56 @ sephora.com.

I am such a lip stain fan and always have been. And while I really like this SMASHBOX Limitless Lip Stain & Color Seal Balm, why the roughness of the pen on the stain application side? I mean, does it help with the application of staying power? This is not the first marker-type stain I have used but the ouchie part seems to be a trend. It feels like a low-grade sandpaper!
Anyway, this one comes in 6 different colors and is good one for when you are on your way to the mall to try on clothes. Who wants to worry about lipstick or gloss when pulling something with the tags attached over your head? Color picks Berry (muted raspberry) and Guave (bright coral orange). $23 @ sephora.com.

So what is CHANEL Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lipshine exactly? It’s not a lip gloss and a little bit sheerer than a lipstick so if just a touch of color is more your thing, you may want to try these out. They come in 18 shades. $32 @ chanel.com.

A New L'Oreal Infallible Lippie Collection

L'Oreal-Infallible-Le-Rouge-Lipcolor Another day, another L’OREAL PARIS Infallible Collection! These Infallible Le Rouge lippies are some of my favorites right now and they are quite different from these in a few ways. First they are really moisturizing that I can feel it when I smack my lips together. It contains Color Fix technology, which is a flexible polymer that gives it greater adhesion that won’t flake. And it doesn’t!

They claim 10-hours of lasting color but I wouldn’t go that far but yes on a couple of moisturizing hours, which in my book is worth it. Color picks L to R: #312 Ravishing Red, #423 Perpetual Peach and #138 Forever Fuschia. $9.99 @ drugstore.com.

OCC's New Lip Tars

OCC-Lip-Tar OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS just came out with some new Lip Tars. I am a fan of these though they are pretty hard to handle when you’re on the go. If you are not familiar with them, they have quite a cult following and are creamier and more pigmented than a gloss and more like a liquid lipstick. And as they say, a little goes a long way and I would recommend using a lip brush and scooping it right off the plastic tip of the applicator. And I love the dash of peppermint oil they add to the formulas!

Lip-Tar-swatches
From L to R:

Harlot – fiery coral red, Stalker – intense blue-based red, Strumpet – red seedless grape, Trick – crème beige neutral, Strutter – plush mahogany red, Trollop – vivid cranberry pink.

$12.50 each @ occmakeup.com.
