Red, Red Lips

Why does the red lipstick give us so much pleasure? Was it the forbidden lipstick to play with in your mother’s handbag? Was it the shade you only saw on a model in a magazine? Did your favorite Aunt always wear the same shade of red lipstick as her signature? Did a beautiful gold case signify mystery and allure? All these things and more make up our love for red lipsticks and I’m very excited that this fall it’s all about RED LIPS. We will be featuring many of our favorites in the Red, Red Lips feature in the next three months. Just note that some colors in the tubes can be deceiving and appear a different color than on lips. 7. Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour from L’OREAL is hip and chic in its two step, two sided silver plastic case. Long lasting color on one side, a soothing balm on the other.  It does stay on and on and even has a built-in mirror. 8. The SEPHORA brand calls their Cream Lipstick No. 94 a Classic Red. It’s a creamy light (semi-sheer) true blue/red in a soft cream formula. Perfect for you “beginner” red lipstick wearers. $10 @ sephora.com
   
9. It’s a lip stain, and a gloss and Scarlett is its name. LAURA MERCiER correctly named the color of her new Lip Stain in Scarlett. Use your hands and put as little or as much as you like and press into your lips. This has a satin, balmy finish…long lasting too. $20 @ sephora.com

Fall Color Picks - Nude Shimmer

Fall is here and we couldn't be more excited! And with the season come some great color trends. Twice a month until December, we will be featuring two colors we are loving and the makeup products that highlight them. Here's our first installment!

Ask most men about NUDE and they think of well, besides that, one color. Women … well, we know all the variations. There’s fleshy nude, beige nude, beige-y pink nude and even metallic-y nude and the formulas can be sheer or very pigmented. I love that the color can really polish off a look if you’re going for simple and low maintenance or if you want to make one feature really stand out. Add a sprinkle of shimmer and you have one of this season’s “it” colors. And what’s great about this shade as it’s hard to go overboard. You can do all your features in different nudes and still look fab. Lips, face, eyes ... here’s our picks of Nude Shimmers for the season:

All About Eyes

Here are some special products to address eye concerns and helps us with lines, wrinkles and dark circles. JOEY NEW YORK Firm and Tone Eye Cream ($30/.5oz @ joeynewyork.com) should be patted on and pressed in and around the eye area for hydrating and helping diminish appearance of fine lines and shadows. It’s very rich, but definitely not greasy! Great to use before makeup application.

PUR MiNERALS Mineral Eye Prep ($17 @ purminerals.com) in fast becoming a morning staple. After you moisturize and before you apply your eye shadow, give this wand a try. The Eye Prep will serve as a primer, neutralize eyelid color and provide antioxidant protection.

BOBBI BROWN brings our eyes into the lightness of being, with the aptly named Eye Brightener ($32/.24 oz @ bobbibrown.com). A very small amount of this light pink cream will not only hide dark circles but also lighten the entire eye area, which makes you look more refreshed.

SKiN MEDiCA Uplifting Eye Serum ($45.60/.5oz) has vitamins and botanical antioxidants to hydrate and lift the sensitive skin around the eyes while reducing appearance of puffiness, circles and fine lines. A great companion to this is their TNS Illuminating Eye Cream ($66.50/.5oz) which smoothes and brightens the sensitive tissue around the eyes.
