The Parisian Way to Scent a Room - Lampe Berger Paris

Lampe-Berger-Paris-Corollissima Room fragrances are a huge industry with each major corporation looking for their stake in the category. Sometimes though, it’s nice to get back to basics with an original. The LAMPE BERGER PARIS company was founded in 1898 in France and uses a process called catalytic diffusion to not only scent the air in a room but also purify it. Each of the 45 scents were created by master perfumers and is as intricate as a fine perfume you’d wear on the skin.

Ok, so how it work is you fill one of their gorgeous containers about 2/3rd full with one of their fragrances. And there are literally 100 or more different containers, or lampes as they call them, to choose from so you can coordinate each room’s look. Insert the burner and replace the (flame) snuffer on the top. The wick inside the lampe should soak for 20 minutes (you don’t have to do this every time, just the first time) and then remove the snuffer and light the wick. Keep it lit for 2 minutes and then gently blow it out and replace the fancy cap on top of the burner. In about 30 minutes, you’ll have the room scented enough to last quite a few hours. And the 16.9oz fragrance bottle will provide 20 hours of burn time if you follow that put-the-snuffer-on-the-lampe-after-30-minutes. And that’s the only trait I don’t like about this is that I forgot to snub the scent out after 30 minutes before thus use up more liquid than I want to. Could this maybe come with a timer?

Fragrance are $20 and the lampes run $60 to $2,000 for lampes in the Limited Edition Art Collection @ lampeberger.us

Let's Kick Off Holiday Shopping with Bluewick!

So today is a pretty exciting day! Not only is it the busiest shopping day of the year but it’s the day I kick off my Annual Holiday Gift Guide. From now until Christmas Day, I'll be rolling out picks I all across the beauty board - from fragrances to makeup to hair and of course bath and body care. If you see the below wreath in a review, you'll know it's a Cybelesays gift pick! Enjoy.

Holiday-Icon-2010 To celebrate the holidays, BLUEWICK just put out their Tarro Collection of four Soy Candles and it was hard to pick just one favorite so I narrowed it down to two scents – the Tamarind Fur (crisp winter forest Siberian Fir and Balsam blended with Sweet Tamarind, Lemon Leaf and Bamboo) and Festival (Dewfruit Zest, Loganberry, Heliotrope blended with Sweet Muguet Vanilla, Allspice, Quince and Valencia Orange). So each of these fulfill a mood! $24.50/16oz = 90 hours burn time @ bluewick.com.

And know that these burn down to the very last drop. Major quality in these candles!

Fall Room Scents from Illume and Paddywax

It's not summer but not quite the cold part of fall, yet my house hungers for some seasonal scents to warm the place up. Here are two I’m rocking these days for this in-between season.

Illume-and-Paddywax
ILLUME’s White Thyme & Pear Candle from the Modern Naturals Collection blends crisp pear with fresh thyme blended with a hint of soft jasmine and rich vanilla. $7 - $36 @ illumecandles.com.

I’m not a huge fan of diffusers as I’ve only come across a few that actually throw a scent. But this one from PADDYWAX is changing my mind. This Cranberry Fig Diffuser is from the Classic Collection and is a blend of the aforementioned notes along with Cassis. $28/4oz @ paddywax.com.

Get Your Cucumber On

Don’t you love the smell of cucumbers? Not only do they smell great in beauty products but because of their high water content, the ingredient is great for rehydrating the skin. For the face, it can perk up the complexion and as we all know, sooth puffy eyes. So if you like the ingredient for its medicinal purposes or you just like the smell, here are three to help you get your cucumber on.

  • JOHNSON’S Baby Powder in Cooling Cucumber Melon ($4.29/15oz @ drugstore.com)
  • BATH AND BODY WORKS Wallflowers Home Fragrance in Cucumber ($12/2 bulbs @ bathandbodyworks.com)
  • SKINLITE Make-up Cleansing Tissues Cucumber Extract Sheets ($3.95/30 sheets @ amazon.com)

Another Winner from Lavanila

Lavanila-Healthy-Candle-2 OK, why is every product in this line a winner? We try out a lot of different brands and quite a few make the site but some of the ones that make the site, just don’t stay loved for a long time. The ones from LAVANILA never seem to tire in my eyes! (the fragrance was featured on the site right before we went daily). The latest addition to the line is The Healthy Candle ($32/11.7oz @ sephora.com). Like their other good-for-you products, theirs are non-toxic (free of paraffins and formaldehydes) and eco-friendly using a beeswax blend that burns clean. Available in Vanilla Lavender, Vanilla Coconut, Vanilla Grapefruit, Vanilla Spice, Pure Vanilla.

Slatkin & Co. Ushers Spring In

With another big snowfall predicted for the east coast in the next couple of days, I think it’s safe to say that most of America is tired of the snow and could use a little sun and warmth. And what better way to get your spring on then with some springtime scents. And a few items from the SLATKIN & CO. is helping me out with this. Check some of these out. And each of these has a really good scent throw.

Slatkin-Conch-Candle

Conch Candle in Sea Breeze ($16.50/5.5oz) - I can practically smell this through the monitor! And the vehicle this fresh scent is packed in is so pleasing to the eye. And it’s not small – 4” x 7 ¾”. So darling.

Scentportable ($5/.2oz) – these came out a few months ago and you can take it with you! Inside each is a scent disc and the back is a clip so you canSlatkin-Scentportable put it in your office, closet, car, or just hold it in your hand and wave it in front of your nose. And my pick right now is the Shore Breeze. It’s just what you’d guess, a fresh light and clean scent. Both @ bathandbodyworks.com.

Holiday Pick - More Ambiance

Xmas_6Anticachampagnehighres_3I’m giving a lot of these this season. ANTiCA FARMACiSTA Home Ambiance Perfume ($88/16.9oz @ anticafarmacista.com) is such a nifty gift to give any host this season. This renowned Italian apothecary really pays attention to detail and delivers quality and they are really growing in popularity. The antique-like bottles house unique scents that you uncork, place the wooden reeds in the oils and moments later you have a subtly scents area. And their new scent, Champagne, is a festive delight that will get you through the New Year with parties you are attending.
