Know What You're Getting In Your Body Oil

Lalicious-Body-Oil-in-Lily-Mango Trophy I’ve been back and forth about a specific drugstore body oil for the past few weeks. I pretty much grew up on the brand but wow, the ingredients are just so … 1970s. Needless-to-say, as much as it kills me not to feature it because I do really like it, I can’t get my brain past all the really bad for you ingredients and that my skin probably silently screamed every time I put it on. Since dealing with this, I have been going back to one I featured earlier this year from LALICIOUS. It’s their Body Oil and this is one I was and still am proud to feature on the site. I mean, check out these ingredients: Coconut oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Essential and Fragrance Oils, Soybean Oil and Vitamin E Oil. That’s it! I’m not even going to delve into the ingredients of the other one as you probably would need a medical dictionary to figure out about 90% of them.

Yes, this one from Lalicious one is going to cost you more than the bad one but isn’t it better to know all of what is going on and ultimately into your skin? Quality costs money (in this case $24/8oz and $80/32oz @ lalicious.com). So with that said, I’m going to put my money where my mouth is and add this one to the Hall of Fame. Shown here in the Lily Mango scent. Love it!! And you can get this oil is 7 other fragrances so which one will you pick?

A New Addition to the Hall of Fame - White Sands

White-Sands-Stuck-Up-styling-spray Trophy Do you ever really find a product you like and use it, have fun, etc, and then forget about it? This video (thanks rosebud143!) reminded me of the WHITE SANDS line and this product that I wrote about a while ago. Since my hair is really getting long (well past my shoulders now), I’m able to curl it and go for the loose waves look more often and so I’ve been revisiting their Stuck-Up Mega Hold Styling Spray and I feel like I am discovering it for the first time! And I have not found one to do the same thing since. Imagine being able to apply your spray to your hair before applying the heat from a flat iron or curling iron. Such hold and it helps your curls last longer than they normally would and without looking crunchy.

I have two things going on with Stuck-Up – first is I am adding to the Hall of Fame – yes, it’s that good.

And second is, I have 10 cans to giveaway to you so enter below and good luck!

Welcome to the Jungle ...

Paul-Mitchell-Super-Skinny-Serum-2 Trophy Have you ever used a product when the more you use it, the more you like it? This is the case with PAUL MITCHELL’s Super Skinny Serum. We featured this on the site back in Dec 07 and declared our love for it then but I’m taking it one step further and putting it in our Hall of Fame. Since I get to test out so many products, I have to say this is the best hair straightener/stylers/defrizzers I have ever used. Better than the, dare I say it, the Living Proof products we recently featured on the site that are made just for frizzies. So give a warm and hardy round of applause … Welcome to the Hall of Fame Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum!

We Found A Hot Hair Mask In Davines

Davines-Nounou-Hair-Mask  TrophyEvery once in a while a hair mask comes along and kicks my strands in the butt and this one left me running my fingers through my hair over and over. So what’s the name of the one that did it? DAVINES Nounou/Pak Nourishing Repairing Mask ($26/8.45oz @ amazon.com). I’ve gotten about 5 full uses out of this container (I tend to overdue it when it comes to hair products!) and I can proudly say, this is one of the best hair masks I have ever used. Could it be the Olive Butte, Jojoba Oil or the combo of the Cherry Oil and Rhizobian Gum that really had our strands soft and manageable? Or was it some secret their not giving up? Either way, I don’t care. Just don’t discontinue this one! Let’s give this one a big hearty welcome to the Hall of Fame. Welcome Davines!

New Addition To the Hall of Fame!

Trophy2 I have a confession and it’s hard to admit this amongst us beauty product lovers but here goes. MAC makes my head spin. There I said. I can’t keep up with the collections. Every time I turn around they are putting out yet another collection. With other brands, they seem to only put out a new collection each season, and that’s almost hard enough given all the lines out there. How does MAC do it?

With that said, I hope you can see how I missed their Pro Longwear Lipcolors when they came out a while ago. I totally thought their sister product, Pro Longwear Lip Colour, were a brand new concept to the line. Duh! Not! Anyway, I loved the shades in the Lustre Twins’ collection that just came out and they have pretty much ruined me for any other lip colors or lipsticks these days. I compare everything else to their staying power! They stay on for many hours and don’t flake off or budge. I think the secret is to let the color fully dry on the lips before applying the gloss. So please help me welcome a product that really deserves this honor, MAC Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolor, welcome to the Hall of Fame!

New Addition To The Hall of Fame!

Trophy2I really wasn’t prepared to be wow’d tonight but I was. I had heard TURBOION’s Croc professional straigtening irons were good but I never tried one. I even drooled over them at January’s ISSE show! And this past week I was able to give one a spin. And wow! I was used to straightening irons making my hair straight but this one made it stick straight with not a lot of runs through the hair. It was almost too straight!

Croc

And I put this one through quite the test. I ran the blow dryer over my hair to dry it but I didn’t style it with a round brush, which I usually do to make it straight. So with no round brush love, I grabbed a section with a comb, and three runs later with the Croc Titanium Wet to Dry Flat Iron 1 ½", voila, stick straight strands. Finished my whole head and it looked like I just came from the salon. The iron uses the most advanced “Nano-fine Ceramic Heating Plates” to seal the cuticles and eliminate frizz, while preserving the hair’s condition. If you want to read more about the technology behind this one, check out their site. All I know is what it does!

Now this one can be used on wet or dry hair but I don’t recommend using it on wet hair. I’ve consulted a few hairdressers and they don’t recommend it either.

And watching this one heat up was kinda fun (yes, I’m easily entertained) too. It has a blue digital display and the hottest it goes is 430 degrees. The heat can be set to your hair’s needs, which they recommend: 280 to 310 for bleach or fragile, 310 to 390 for normal and 390 to 430 for coarse or thick.

So help me welcome the Croc Titanium Wet to Dry Flat Iron 1 ½" to the Hall of Fame. $150 @ misikko.com. And make sure to check out the other hair tools on misikko.com.

Leave It To Lush

Lushjasmineuse2_2Trophy2_4I have been on a LUSH tear! I mentioned a few weeks ago that I went to one of their stores when I was back east and in addition to Fever, I also picked up some new ones to try and one of them was their new Jasmin and Henna Fluff-Ease ($19.95/7.8oz @ lush.com) and wow, is all I can say. It is a hair treatment you plaster onto dry hair and leave on for 20 minutes. Thinking that I just got lucky with my amazing results, I used it again and again, the same tah-dow results! Being the Queen of Excess when it comes to products, you’d think this one was right up my alley – instructions say ¼ pot for short hair, ½ pot for medium length and whole pot for long. I was able to restrain myself and only use about ¼ of it for my medium length and was still able to cover it all. Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Jasmin and Henna Fluff-Ease!

Bobbi Brown Is Calling All Beach Babes!

Even if you haven’t had a chance to get to the beach this year, you can bring the beach to you! And BOBBI BROWN,Bbbeach thank you for this next awesome product. It’s Sunscreen Body Spray with SPF 15, appropriately called Beach from her Beach Collection. I can close my eyes and smell the tropical island beaches when I spray it on. This 6.7 ounces of pure pleasure is lightweight, non greasy and water resistant. And for the past couple of weeks, I’ve been wearing it on my neck and arms every morning when I leave the house. The Texas sun is burning these days but I smell like I’m livin’ at the beach. Yum yum yum. $25 @ bobbibrown.com ~Lisa

Mint Lips Sink Ships

Trophy2_4I hate to be aCo bandwagon jumper but the C.O. BiGELOW Mentha Lip Shine ($5 @ bathandbodyworks.com) IS the best three-in-one moisturizer on the market. Normally I’m not jazzed about products for my lips that have mint in them but this one has just a touch so it doesn’t irritate at all and it's quite soothing. Welcome to the Hall of Fame!

What Color Is June?

Mallygetcheeky_2 Trophy2_3

June is fresh, bright yet subtle. This cheek product seems to be in between a tarte stain and a cream blush but it gives an oh so realistic flush. MALLY BEAUTY Get Cheeky Dewy Blush ($25 @ 800-HBENDEL) feels like it was made just for me. I seem to have a heavy hand when it comes to blushes. I apply some and then go look in the bathroom mirror and wipe half of it off. With this one, I am in the driver’s seat! The Fely’s Flush is a warm rose and not only is it the most believable flushed color but it lasts quite a long time on. It comes in 3 shades and each is packed in a cute pink metallic case with it’s own brush. Welcome this one to our Hall of Fame list!
