Review: Centrix 5000 hair dryer

Sadly, I think my T3 hairdryer is about to bite the dust so I’ve been thinking about what to do when that happens. It’s been on my mind majorly lately as a dryer is a very personal thing and I think I got pretty lucky when I tried this limited edition purple Centrix 5000 blow dryer from CRICKET CO. I’s pretty lightweight, easy to handle and boasts 25% more air flow than the leading dryers as in the dryer’s air current can reach up to 50 miles per hour! Wow. Yes, the air coming out is pretty strong but not too strong where it makes it difficult to handle.

Centrix-5000-from-Cricket-Co.
A few things I think can use improvement - the air coming out takes a while to heat up even when the setting is on max hot. At first I thought it just didn’t get as hot as a T3 as I’ve heard the T3’s almost get too hot but the air did get hotter the longer I used it in a drying/styling session.

I also think the buttons on the front of the handle could have been placed in a different location on the unit as my palm seems to hit those buttons and move the settings quite a few times when maneuvering the unit around. Maybe I just need to get used to it more?

Consider this an investment at $129.99 @ folica.com but remember that a good quality dryer will last you years to come.

And a portion of sales from this dryer will go to support the recovery of domestic abuse victims.

Major Hair Technology from KeratinPerfect & Gloss Moderne

Ok, you get your ubber-expensive Brazilian Blowout or whatever your salon is calling the Keratin hair treatments these days and now what? How do you keep the super-straightness of it for as long as possible? Yes, sulfate-free is now your main business but two new companies have not made it their business to help you keep it straight for as long as possible too.

KERATIN PERFECT – Exclusive to Sephora, this line contains:
PerfectCleanse Keratin Enhanced Shampoo ($24/8.5oz)
PerfectSilk Keratin Enhanced Conditioner ($24/8.5oz)
PerfectRenew Daily Keratin Replenishing Spray ($34/6.7oz)
PerfectRescue Intense Keratin Repair Serum ($40/1.7oz)
PerfectShine Keratin Oil ($40/1.7oz).

This line uses a very tech-forward process called ReBonding Techology, which penetrates the hair to repair any weak Keratin bonds and keeps strands frizz-free and manageable. The Repair Serum has been my go-to for the past few weeks and I really feel this one fills in the nooks and crannies as my straightening treatment slowly washes away. Get them @ sephora.com.

GLOSS-Moderne-and-Keratin-Perfect-products GLOSS MODERNE - Line contains:
High-Gloss Shampoo ($27.50/8oz)
High-Gloss Conditioner ($28.50/8oz)
High-Gloss-Serum ($26/4oz)
High-Gloss Masque ($32/4oz) and you can purchase all four products for $114.

Their products contain Keratin, panthenol and botanicals like coconut and passion fruit extract among others to help keep hair 180 degrees from frizzy. And these have a Coco de Soleil scent to them, which is a blend of coconut, almond and rum and was created in a fragrance house just for these products. Nice. Get them @ glossmoderne.com.

Hair Tools With Your Hair Type In Mind

Did you ever really think about the hair tools you use? I mean, they’re all really “one size fits all” and we each have different hair types with different needs. What may be perfect for one head of hair might be quite damaging to another. Enter SMART HEAT by Gold ‘N Hot Elite and did they ever educated me on some hair facts. It’s pretty straight forward that fine hair is less flexible and more prone to damage from styling tools than medium or coarse hair so did you ever think you could get hair tools that were made for your specific type of hair? These use an electronic heat sensor to keep the irons and dryer at the right temperature for your hair type. So no more over-drying or over-styling, which can both wreak havoc on hair!

Choose from the following:

smart heat by Gold ‘N Hot Elite: The Dryer ($115)
smart heat by Gold ‘N Hot Elite: The Straightening Iron
($115)
smart heat by Gold ‘N Hot Elite: The Curling Irons
– ½”, ¾”, 1”, 1 ¼” (“$80)

Visiting South America With Mega Hot’s New Brazilian Heat

I can’t say that I’m used to looking at a pearlized white and orange hair dryer. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one before but I love the combo. Very now. The new Brazilian Heat line from MEGA HOT is comprised of 6 overall products -  Ionic Hair Dryer, two different sized Brazilian Straight Irons and three different sized Brazilian Curl Irons. Here’s what’s sets these apart from the others out there –

Ionic Dryer - $180

  • Rheostat dryer instead of switches that let’s you control the air flow
  • Cool shot button and turbo shot button
  • Lightweight @ 14.6oz.

Straight Iron - $150 - $175

  • plates are treated with a new double-dip ceramic treatment (less wear and tear)
  • Temp-lock feature so you don’t accidentially change the setting (I do this all the time!).
  • 1” and 1 1/2” sizes
  • Heat up to 450 degrees and has digital display.
  • * I also had my hair dresser, Berrie, try this one out when she was applying the Brazilian Keratin Treatment to my hair and she really liked it and said it was probably one of the best straightening irons she's used to date.

Curl Iron - $80 to $100

  • plates are also get the double-dip ceramic treatment

  • Available in ¾”, 1” and 1 ½” sizes
