Got Dry Feet? Get Dr. Teal's.

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Dr-Teals-Cracked-Heel-TherapyAs I wind up the Fall Product Picks 2011, I think it’s only fitting to end the on-going feature with something that tends to hibernate all winter long, the feet. Just because temps are dropping doesn’t mean your attention should also drop from taking care of your feet. DR. TEAL'S just came out with some foot-specific products that my tootsies are loving right now, specifically the Cracked Heel Therapy. Now I should tell you up front, not that you really care, but for the record, I don’t have cracked heels, ewww, but even if I did I probably wouldn’t tell you out of embarrassment. So let’s just say, if you do have really dry (my case) or cracked heels (not my case), you may want to give this one a spin. It comes in the very convenient push up container and contains Emu oil, paraffin, and Shea butter, as well as peppermint oil. Now I should note that when most foot products say they have peppermint inside, they tend to overload it with peppermint so your feet feel tingly, which I don’t always like. This one has just the right amount for the skin and nose.$9.99/2oz @ Walmart stores nationwide.

Fall Product Standouts – Skin Care

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Quite a few skin care products have come out and here are three I am giving my stamp of approval.

COLORESCIENCE PRO Illuminating Cleanser Mineral Powder Formula ($37.50/1.4oz @ colorescience.com) – this powder looks like diamond dust and is great at not only cleansing and exfoliating the skin with Salicylic Acid but it also removes makeup. No tightness of the skin after using this one. Big recommendation.

BURT’S BEES Sensitive Night Cream ($15/1.8oz @ burtsbees.com) – part of the new Sensitive line they just put out, which includes a Cleanser, Moisturizing Cream and Eye Cream. These contain Cotton Extract to help minimize the effects of potential irritants, as well as aloe. So your skin is getting what it needs but gently.

PREVAGE Day Intensive Anti-aging Moisturizing Cream SPF 30 ($129/1.7oz) – Liz Arden’s Prevage brand has received rave reviews and they just came out with two new products. This day cream not only guards against UVA/UVB rays, but it also contains the powerful ingredient Idebenone to protect the skin from daily environmental assaults. The other new one is their Night Anti-aging Restorative Cream ($132/1.7oz). Get them both @ prevageskin.com.

Fall Standouts – Scents

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I think the month of October is my favorite month of fall as here in LA, it’s still nice but the eves have more of a bite to them. The smells are different than the rest of the year, not to mention we start getting rain (yeah!!). Candle usage in the house also increases around this time of year and here are a few room scents I’ve been loving.

INFUSION ORGANIQUE Sands of Morocco Scent Diffuser ($56/6.4oz, $90/16oz @ infusionorganique.com) – I’ve been sitting on this scent for a few months now as it wasn’t quite fitting for summer but oh-so-yes for fall. Unleash a combination of vanilla, sandalwood, warm oak moss and certified organic lemongrass oil in any room to warm it up this season.

Infusion-Organique-Sands-of-Morocco-DiffuserMRS. MEYER’S Iowa Pine Scented Soy Candle ($6.99/4.9oz = 25 hours @ mrsmeyers.com) – I kind of jumping the guy with this pine scent but it’s really getting me in the mood for the upcoming season so I can’t help it! Fill the room with a touch of clove and cedar with this baby. Also available are Orange Clove, Cranberry and Spice Cake.

SLATKIN & CO. Candle in Apple Crumble ($19.50/40-65 hours @ bathandbodyworks.com) – I’m not much for the food-smelling candles but who doesn’t love the smells of apples? This one smells like Granny Smith and McIntosh apples with a touch of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Smells good enough to eat.

Review: Jouer Cosmetics Liquid Shimmer Eyeliner

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
These days it seems that when it comes to eyeliners, it’s all about liquids. Colored, black, whatever you’re into, if it’s liquid, it’s in. And I’m just loving these JOUER Liquid Shimmer Eyeliners that came out as part of their Mad About Fall 2011 Collection. The collection is all about a soft shimmered lined eye paired with a nude lippie channeling the beauty style of the 60’s with a modern spin.

Jouer-Liquid-Shimmer-Eyeliners
These liners are enriched with vitamins A and E as well as green and white tea extract and they are Jouer-Liquid-Shimmer-Eyeliner-swatchesparaben-free. So how do they wear? Really nicely and for many hours. One swipe will do you as they are quite pigmented and all three shades are very wearable – Sable (sheer aubergine), Mink (rich taupe) and Fox (navy charcoal). $22 @ jouercosmetics.com.

Kiehl's Gives Hope for Oily Skin

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I’m thankfully able to use just about anything on my face without worrying about breaking out or any kind of irritation. We’ve all heard of the crazy circle people with oily skin go through – when skin is not hydrated, it produces oil and then it becomes too oily and shiny, so you wash it again only to go through this crazy cat and mouse game over and over. So you try oil-free products and those just lack lasting moisture so it’s back to the former and on and on. So the KIEHL’S line took it upon themselves to come up with a collection of skin care products that are oil-free but are still able to not only hydrate the skin but Kiehl's-Ultra-Facial-Starter-Kitalso seal it in. It’s their Ultra Facial Oil-Free Collection and is proven to rebalance the skin and prevents the overproduction of oil. And the collection contains all the necessary ones to get it all under control –

Ultra Facial Oil-Free Cleanser ($18/5oz)
Ultra Facial Oil-Free Toner ($16/6oz)
Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion ($24.50/4.2oz)
Ultra Facial Oil-Free Gel Cream ($24.50/1.7oz)

A great value and way to try out these products is with the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Moisturizer Starter Kit for $29.50. It contains a 1oz Cleanser, 1.4oz Toner, and 4.2oz Lotion. Get this collection @ kiehls.com.

CLEAN Grows Up

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Clean-Skin-perfumeI love that the CLEAN fragrance line is getting a little more sophisticated in its scents. I mean, how many times can you do clean? Their latest is an eau de parfum is called Skin and overall it’s much headier than I’m used to from this line and that’s a good thing. As I inhale the scent right now from my skin, it smells like a wet, dewy, juicy flower. The notes include sheer honeydew, lotus blossom, fresh air accord, dewy petals, aquatic notes, blue rose, white musk, amber wood and creamy vanilla. This just might be my most favorite from the line yet. $69/2.14oz @ sephora.com.

Fall Product Standouts – Eyes

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Waves ($30 @ esteelauder.com) – I’m still all over strong colors on the eyes and teal always looks great next to brown eyes.

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Eye Studio Color Explosion in Pink Punch ($10.99 @ drugstores nationwide) – I’ve used all of these colors over the past couple of weeks and even all at one time. The price makes this one worth it.

CLARINS Instant Liner in Black ($26 @ clarins.com) – a super flexible tip makes helps this liquid liner hug the curve of the eye for a great application.

SEPHORA Eye Bling ($6 @ sephora.com) – really make eyes stand out with these cute crystals with adhesive on them.

BOBBI BROWN Rich Color Eye Shadow in Pink Silk ($24 @ bobbibrown.com) from the Marrakesh Chic Collection – a great neutral with just a touch of shimmer makes this a great everyday shade for many skin tones.

DIOR DiorShow Liner Waterproof in Plum ($29 @ sephora.com) – liners should all be made this great! It’s really smooth, non-tugging and stays put after setting.

Review: Murad Intensive Resurfacing Peel

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
I use a face serum regularly but sometimes I want an instant pick-me-up and I’m getting that with MURAD’s Intensive Resurfacing Peel ($45/4 treatments @ murad.com). This is a 10-minute treatment that’s similar to a chemical peel, but obviously not as strong, and can be used in the privacy of your own home. Each tube contains enough for one application and contains glycolic and salicylic acids to stimulate cell turnover. It also has bamboo bead microdermabrasion, which I don’t quite get since from what I understand and how it’s used is as more of a face mask and not like a face exfoliator. So I’m not sure where that ingredient comes in. Anyway, as far as how it felt on my skin, I didn’t feel anything uncomfortable besides a really slight tingle. They do advise a spot test for this one since it does have small amounts of ingredients that can irritate some. Use weekly for a boost in overall luminocity and radiance. Two big thumbs up.

Fall Standouts - Lips

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
Fall-2011-Product-Picks-Lips LIP SAVVY Star Studded Shine Gloss
($18 @ belipsavvy.com) – the way this think gloss catches the light is insane. The OMG color is a bright sparkling raspberry and has a hint of bubblegum smell to it.

MAKE UP FOR EVER Lip Line Perfector ($18 @ sephora.com) – there’s really no way to stop lines from appearing around our mouth and color on the lips can bleed, so thankfully they came up with an invisible liner to keep color in its place.

BOBBI BROWN Rich Lip Color SPF 12 in Desert Rose ($23 @ bobbibrown.com) from the Marrakesh Chic Collection – such a great anytime rose color. It reminds me of the first shade of lipstick I ever used.

SKINN DIMITRI JAMES Glosstick Ultra Shine Lip Color in Tender ($12.50 @ skinn.com) – we all want the look of a gloss with the staying power of a lipstick. This one in Tender is YLBB, really better.
