Review+Swatches - Neutrogena Crease Proof Eye Shadow

It is the perfect time to entertain NEUTROGENA’s new Crease Proof Eye Shadow. Days are longer, temps are rising and there is lots of fun to be had outdoors and not in worrying about your makeup. We all know the brand is great for makeup basics, not wild colors so if you need to update your stash or get some good heat-resistant staples, this is a good product to consider.

Spring Makeup Helper Must Haves

Spring-Basic-Makeup-Must-HavesWhat are your go-to products for highlighting or un-highlighting areas on the face or helping it last throughout the day/night? Here are some I’ve been using and love.

To Make Eyes Pop - PIXI BEAUTY Extra Eye Bright Liner ($17 @ pixibeauty.com) – this super thin waterproof liner is meant to be worn on the water line or inner rim of the bottom lid. The pale white/pink/lavender color really brightens up any eye look.

To Highlight - ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée in Heatwave ($40 @ esteelauder.com) -  highlight your cheeks, under the brows and even the décolletage with this new one from their Bronze Goddess Collection. Gorg.

My Go-To BB Cream - TARTE BB Tinted Treatment 12-Hour Primer Broad Spectrum SPF 20 Sunscreen ($34/1oz @ sephora.com) – sunscreen (check), longevity (check), slight tint (check), nourishing ingredients (check). Available in 4 shades.

Banish Under-eye Circles - ORLANE Highlight Care Brush ($40 @ orlane.com) – I’d put this one up against this cult favorite any day! If you’re going to rock the Spring look, dark circles and rough under eyes won’t cut it. Get your glow on with this one.

Hold On Eye Shadow - SENNA COSMETICS Totally Transforming Eyeshadow Primer ($24 @ sennacosmetics.com) – there’s nothing worse than your eye shadow sliding off your lids from the heat, so this season, vow to wear an eye shadow primer every time. This one contains antioxidants and peptides and available in three shades.

Review+Swatches - Smashbox Shades of Fame Palette

I think I’ve been neglecting my lids lately, as in, I’ve been so into summery colors on my lips, I’ve forgotten that there are a ton of shadows out there just begging to be warn and are perfect for the season. One is from SMASHBOX. It’s one of those “valued at XXX but sells for XX” and called Shades of Fame. It features nine powder eye shadows, two cream eye liners, a dual-tipped eye brush, a sampler of their Photo Finish Lid Primer and a step-by-step booklet on how to create three different looks.

Hard Candy Show Girl's Secret

Hard-Candy-Show-Girl's-Secret-Glitter-GlueNot a lot of situations call for glitter makeup but when they do, how do you get it to stay on? Lids seem to look best dawning it, and I just discovered a reasonably priced liquid to help it stay put. HARD CANDY Show Girl’s Secret Glitter Glue & Brush is all you need to get glitter to adhere to the skin for sparkling eyes, cheeks or even a cool design.

I have been alternating between using this for glitter liner and a neutral glitter in the middle of the lid. All you do is put a drop of it in the cap, dip your brush into the liquid, pick up some glitter with the brush and liquid and swipe on the skin. You can also apply the liquid on the skin first and then press the glitter into it; try both ways to see which works best for you.

And how can you go wrong with it priced at $5? Only @ walmart.com.

Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24Hr Cream Gel Shadows - the Colors

I’m really into bright, fun eye shadows these days and especially swatching them for the site. The latest to that have me excited is from the MAYBELLINE line. They recently came out with 10 EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24Hr Cream Gel Shadows and to review and swatch these, I’m breaking them up into two groups- the colors and the neutrals. Let’s attack the colors first.

Bare Escentuals Puts One Out that Stays!

It was only a matter of time before someone came out with a shadow that incorporated a primer in it and I’m glad that BARE ESCENTUALS did. Prime Time Primer Shadows are a great way to welcome the summer with its hot temps because these don’t move! But be warned, once they “dry down” they can’t be blended so act quick. And they are pretty pigmented so I would use a small brush and squeeze a little out of the tube as you go.

Bare-Escentuals-Prime-Time-Swatches Bronzed Twig – iced chocolate, Chroma Violet – ripe plum, Sundance – sunlit peach, Urban Nature – delicate moss, Gunmetal – silver grey, Racing Green – forest green. $18/.10oz @ sephora.com.

Review: Tarte NeutralEYES Volume II

Tarte-Neutraleyes-Palette-Vol-2 If you are a palette fan and a TARTE fan, they just put out one of the best ones, IMO.I mean it’s rare to get a makeup palette where more than 50% of the colors will work for you. Not so with their NeutralEYES Volume II Natural Eye Palette. I’d bump up the percentage to about 80% totally usable colors. Some may say more!

What’s in this one: 10 neutral shadows, a double-sided brush, Aqua-Gel Eyeliner in Brown and a deluxe-size of their primer, which I'd never tried and it seemed to work pretty well (only tried it twice so far). And did you see the outside of this? It's like a wallet-sized clutch embellished by zipper. Wicked cute. $44 @ ulta.com.
