Review + Swatches - Estee Lauder Intense Kajal EyeLiners

Estee-Lauder-Intense-Kajal-EyelinerAlso part of ESTEE LAUDER's Pure Color Cyber Eyes Collection along with these are the Intense Kajal EyeLiner ($20). They come in 6 colors and shown here are from L to R in the below photo: Blackened Black, Blackened Cocoa, Blackened Sapphire. These have 70% pure pigments and glide on nicely to the delicate eye area and you can adjust the color payoff – more swipes or harder application, more intense color. And they smudge easily so you can dull out a harsh line if you like. These are not waterproof but one can dream. Get them @ esteelauder.com.

Review + Swatches - Estee Lauder Pure Color Cyber Eyes

ESTEE LAUDER just came out with a collection called Pure Color Cyber Eyes.

What it is: Eyes take center stage with Pure Color Cyber Eyes, a powerfully modern collection featuring richly pigmented shades with a hyper-metallic finish, eyeliners in strikingly chic hues for maximum definition and mascaras that create lashes that burst with vibrant color.

Since the mascaras are not new, I’m going to focus on the shadows and liners. The Pure Color Gelée Powder EyeShadow comes in 6 colors. Shown here are Cyber Pink, Cyber Lilac and Cyber Copper. These use what they call a tribrid system that combines a liquid, powder and gel in one shadow and can be worn wet or dry. To me, the formula seemed to apply and blend really smoothly, which is maybe the effect of the tribrid system? Not sure. The Cyber Lilac has to be my favorite one out of the three I tried. Swatches of the Intense Kajal EyeLiners coming shortly. Get these @ esteelauder.com.

Fall Product Standouts – Eyes

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo
ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Waves ($30 @ esteelauder.com) – I’m still all over strong colors on the eyes and teal always looks great next to brown eyes.

MAYBELLINE NEW YORK Eye Studio Color Explosion in Pink Punch ($10.99 @ drugstores nationwide) – I’ve used all of these colors over the past couple of weeks and even all at one time. The price makes this one worth it.

CLARINS Instant Liner in Black ($26 @ clarins.com) – a super flexible tip makes helps this liquid liner hug the curve of the eye for a great application.

SEPHORA Eye Bling ($6 @ sephora.com) – really make eyes stand out with these cute crystals with adhesive on them.

BOBBI BROWN Rich Color Eye Shadow in Pink Silk ($24 @ bobbibrown.com) from the Marrakesh Chic Collection – a great neutral with just a touch of shimmer makes this a great everyday shade for many skin tones.

DIOR DiorShow Liner Waterproof in Plum ($29 @ sephora.com) – liners should all be made this great! It’s really smooth, non-tugging and stays put after setting.

Fall 2011 Product Picks with Estee Lauder

Now that my birthday has past, I’m finally ready to talk fall makeup. I don’t know what it is but I’m never ready to talk about the next season until we are actually there; call it trying to live in the here and now.

Anyway, I’m quite excited about the products hitting us now for fall and will be running an on-going feature of Fall Product Picks, which will be obviously designated by the below logo.

What kinds of products are you most excited for this fall?

Falll-2011-Beauty-Pick-logo

I feel like the ESTEE LAUDER Pure Color Modern Mercury Fall 2011 Collection is really playing with the big boys when it comes to creating possible cult favorites. It’s all about metallic metals, a soft shimmering canvas and edgy matte lips and these made their runway debut at the Derek Lam Fall 2011 shows.

Quite a few awesome items in this collection and below are the ones getting two thumbs up from me.

Pure Color Liquid EyeLiner in Graphite ($21) – a deep hematite or pewter with shimmer. And it lasts for hours, which is half of its sex appeal.

Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelee ($40) – I am absolutely in love with this powder. Such texture and depth but I guess that’s what you get when you combine a powder, liquid and gel. Use it wet or dry for two different affects. I’ve been using this one under the brow bone and even on bare lids.

Estee-Lauder-Modern-Mercury-Fall-2011-Color-Collection
Pure Color Velvet Lipstick in Fuchsia Velvet ($24) – there’s something about a hot pink that just translates from season to season, or at least I think it does.

Pure Color EyeShadow Duo in Black Chrome ($30) – using their exclusive True Vision Technology, a matte grey and shimmer grey will help you get the deepest, darkest smoky eye possible.

Estee Lauder Perfects A Classic

Estee-Lauder-Idealist-Even-Skintone-Illuminator There’s a big push on ESTEE LAUDER’s reformulation of their Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator and I have to say I am a fan. This serum is a good one if you are looking to even out your skin’s tone and fade some of those dark spot or other discolorations, without using the controversial ingredient hydroquinone. It uses a blend of ingredients like plant extracts as well as salicylic acid and stabilized vitamin c to do the work. And while I didn’t see it totally remove a spot I have up on my temple, it did seem to improve my overall tone. So I wouldn’t use this one as a hardcore spot fader but instead more as a skin booster. $58/1.7oz @ esteelauder.com.

Estee Lauder Has the Answer for Eyes

Estee-Lauder-Advanced-Night-Repair-Eye ESTEE LAUDER Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex is a one, two, three really, knock-out product for the eye area. It incorporates their exclusive Chronolux Technology that works with your skin’s own process to help reduce the look of 1) lines and wrinkles, 2) overall eye puffiness and 3) dark circle. And for the price of $49.50/.5oz @ esteelauder.com, it’s oh so purse-friendly!

Because the skin around this area is so thin, we tend to see the signs of aging their first, so if you are trying to stay ahead of the clock, this gel-serum might be a good one to try.

The size of the bottle may seem small for the price but know that you only use 3 dots patted in around each eye at bedtime, so it does last for a few. Big recommendation.

Cracking Up with China Glaze

China-Glaze-Crackle-Glaze-Nail-Lacquer-in-Cracked-Concrete Want to know what the latest trend in nail polishes is? Crackle! Sort of like this I did back in March 2010, it’s gives the nail an unsmooth texture. A few lines have come out with these Crackle nail polishes and I was able to try the ones from CHINA GLAZE. Just paint your nails with any color like you normally would, wait for them to fully dry and then apply a coat of Crackle Glaze! It takes about 10 seconds for it to start drying and crackling. The finish is kind of matte so for you apply a top coat to keep your mani/pedi a long time.

Shown here – China Glaze Crackle Nail Lacquer in Cracked Concrete ($7.50 @ chinaglaze.com) on top of Estee Lauder Pure Color Nail Lacquer in Enchanted Garnet. Top Coat – CND Top Coat Super Shiney.

Estee Lauder Rocks Eyes for Summer

What can I say about this palette that this picture doesn’t say already? This one might fall under this category but I’m trying to get out of that habit and actually try and use the items and not just stare. I mean, isn’t that what they are for? Anyway, we are jumping ahead a season to summer as this palette is from ESTEE LAUDER’s new Bronze Goddess Soleil Summer 2011 Collection. Couldn’t you just gaze at this Bronze Goddess Island Oasis EyeShadow Palette all day? The collection is inspired by the hues and atmosphere of a luxurious island resort and the bronze shades are combined with aqua and coral to create a sultry summer look. All I’m picturing is wearing some self-tanner, a huge straw hat, a maxi-dress, a glossy lip gloss and some of these colors on me lids! From L to R: warm sand shades of copper, bronze, gold and coral balances by cool hues of turquoise, seashell pink, silver and seaweed. #winning!

Estee Lauder Takes A Walk on the Color Side for Spring Nails

I’m guessing that ESTEE LAUDER is feeling the nail polish pressure? What pressure? Don’t you think nails and color are taking center stage these days? Anyway, back to this new Spring Collection created by their Creative Makeup Director, Tom Pecheux. These 16 new Nail Lacquers fall  under the Pure Color umbrella and are really uncharacteristic for the brand. He filled every color family with these, 8 that will be part of the permanent collection and 8 that are limited-edition. And each contains their True Vision Technology, which gives each color its richly pigmented color. And I have always been a fan of the polish brush they use to apply them. True quality!!

Estee Lauder Says "Hello Spring!"

Estee-Lauder-Nail-Lacquer-Wild-Storm Ok, I think I’m ready to talk about Spring products since the new season is just right around the corner! And it’s nice to start with this possible “it” color from ESTEE LAUDER. From their new Wild Violet New Pure Color Spring 2011, this Nail Lacquer is called Wild Storm and is like a hematite grey/black with a hint of green; it’s really close to Chanel’s Black Pearl, but this one is not as green as Chanels. $19 @ esteelauder.com.
