#DryDaysofSummer with Dry Sprays from CVS

It's been especially hot this summer so for a lot of the weekend days so I've been just wanting to stay home in the AC. However, it's summer and there are a lot of great things to be outside doing like dancing! Every summer in Los Angeles, the city has themed dance nights downtown every other weekend and I just love going. It’s a great way to meet up with different groups of friends I maybe haven’t been in touch with lately.

Last week I did salsa with an old neighbor and his new fiancée and next weekend will be Bollywood from about 8 former coworkers. I like how fun and open the crowd that attends seems to be, the free lessons to remind you of key steps, and the food trucks they have available to keep the crowd hydrated and fed throughout the night. above pic courtesy of grandparkla.org

Thanks for the Added Confidence Dove! #FreshForSunFun

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

Kauai-2018
I’ve never been one for heights so this year I decided it would be the year for me to get out of my comfort zone and conquer it. You may recall me mentioning in my different social media platforms that I went to Kauai 2 months ago and when my friend and I were looking for activities to do outside, she brought up zip lining. Are you familiar? It’s where you are suspended by a pulley in the air (usually quite high up!) and propelled from one platform to the other, which are usually attached to trees, and you zip from one tree to the other.

It was probably one of the better options to choose to help with my fear or heights as it wasn’t too jarring. We had been really looking forward to doing some awesome outdoor activities on this trip and this was one I really wanted to do.

#DeoMadeSimple at CVS

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

Every time I have to pick up new deodorants at my local CVS, I always think of the same horrifying story of one not working for me. I was 19 years-old and my sister was getting married. I was the maid of honor and the only one in her wedding party as it was a pretty small ceremony. Still, it was my first real dress-up event so I wanted to make it special. Thankfully my sister gave me no specific instructions when it came to what she wanted me to wear. I ended up choosing this metallic navy and purple off-the-shoulder and to-the-knee dress. Looking back at it now, it was a little much but it worked at the time.

One duty that came with the position was to give a small speech at the reception, which I was unaware of, until the day before. So I had to come up with something tasteful, yet cool, and classy. That wasn’t the hard part. For me, speaking in front of more than 5 people at one time was harder and after I got all dressed with the hair and makeup, I started to sweat. Yup, my deodorant failed and it was the worst time for it to happen. I got through the speech no problem but I kept my arms glued to my sides most of the night.

#WorkoutWithoutOdor with Unilever

As the temps go up, the clothes come off and you want to look good out at the beach or in that cute mini dress. So in the spring, I try and up my workout routine. As much as I’m not a fan of working out, it’s a must for me and this season I decided to try something new, boxing. I’ve only been at it for 6 weeks but it’s fun and what helps in the motivation department is my SO. He is so loyal to his workout regimen all year round, so I look at him to help me stay on track, especially when I borrow his car with the huge trunk. I see his gym bag back there and it also reminds to also stay on track. It’s the little things.

Dove DermaSeries Repairing Balm 30-Day Challenge Results!

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

Dove-DermaSeries-Repairing-Balm
I’ve been testing the Dove DermaSeries Repairing Balm for the past 30-days and really giving this one a challenge on the dry parts of my body. Most in need were the hands, and two dry spots, one on my ankle and the other on my elbow. Have you been following my updates on Instagram?

What I like about this Dove DermaSeries Repairing Balm is how thick and emollient it is. That’s because of the unique petroleum jelly blend this contains. Regular lotion is fine but this liniment is more for those areas that might not respond enough to a cream and need something a little tougher, so to speak. It’s specifically made for those with dry skin, eczema, psoriasis, and it also a proven itch reliever. #fromblahtodermaspa

Dove DermaSeries Collection

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.

Dove-Derma-Repairing-Balm
Getting older can be interesting. Interesting by how my skin is reacting to it. Overall, I think it’s doing well and besides the super dry hands, I have some random dry patches that have pop up. One is on my left elbow and nothing seems to fix it! It literally feels like sandpaper and it sometimes hurts when inside my sleeve rubs on it. Another is on the top of my left big toe. I told you they were random! So I am super excited to try out this new product.

Dove just came out with their Dove DermaSeries Collection available @ target.com, which consists of a Body Lotion, Face Wash, Hand Cream, Face Cream, Body Wash, and the Repairing Balm, which is the one I tried.

#HolidayHairHowTos with CVS

This post is sponsored by Mirum, but opinions expressed are my own.

Dove-and-TRESemme-products-in-my-bathroom
The holidays are pretty much upon us and last minute get-togethers will be common place so I wanted to create a cool hair style for when these crop up. I love that I can get all I need to create any style at my local CVS. Their hair care aisle is bursting with all the latest hair care products from brands you know like TRESemmé®, Suave® and Dove.

TRESemme-TRES-TWO-Spray-on-the-CVS-shelf

I’ve been wearing my hair in a bun lately but when I make a top knot, the bun part is kind of boring so I found a way to jazz it up with braids and what I call the braided bun. It’s really easy to do!

What you will need for this tutorial:

  • Elastic band
  • Lots of bobby pins
  • Hair spray
  • Dry shampoo

TRESemme-TRES-TWO-Extra-Hold-Hair-Spray-in-action
The key to this style is sleek and polished. The bun itself can be a little disheveled but the rest of the hair should be smooth. I achieved a really smooth finish without being crunchy with TRESemmé TRES TWO Extra Hold Hair Spray. It gives me max control and tames those frizzies beautifully. This is a key product in this tutorial.

Dove-Volume-&-Fullness-Dry-Shampoo
After putting dry hair into a high ponytail, divide the hair in half and make a braid with each side. Before making each braid, spray some dry shampoo along the hair in the ponytail. I like to use Dove Volume & Fullness Dry Shampoo to give strands some grip, which will help hold the braid longer than without.

You don’t have to elastic the ends of each braid since you will be tucking them inside the bun, but you can if you want to.

Braided-Bun-tutorial-braids

Then, wrapping one braid around the middle and then the other, pin with bobby pins as you go around. Make sure you are always holding the ends of the hair as you go around so they don’t become unraveled. Top with more TRESemmé hairspray to seal it all in, and you’re done.

CVS has some great deals on the TRESemmé and Dove products I used plus others but they won’t last long!

Make An #EssentialUpgrade with Dove

Sponsored post by Mirum Shopper. All opinions are my own.

Dove-Advanced-Care-Antiperspirant-Original-Clean
So we are getting to the end of the first month of the year, I decided to poll 5 people last week to see if they made any New Year’s resolutions. And I was quite surprised by the outcome! It was split down the middle.

One said, “I only do it now and then. Last year I failed at being a less angry LA driver.”

Another said, “I do but it seems to always be the same ‘lose weight’ year after year and it never works.”

And another was up there with me, “No way. Too much pressure!”

One way a friend handles the new year is she makes a list of 100 goals she wants to accomplish for that year. Whether it be taking someone out to dinner all expenses paid, increase her credit score or read XYZ book, I sure like hearing what hers are for the year as they just seem more obtainable. For me, I feel like creating 100 goals is much easier way to accomplish goals and the list is something worked on throughout the year.

But like everyone else, I’ve vowed (yup, not calling it a resolution!) to tweak something and that would be to move my body 3 times a week. That’s it and it’s all I’m focusing on. Now being a woman of a particular age, as Wendy Williams says, I seem to sweat more these days, of course under my arms, but also the back of my neck, so I picked up Dove’s Advanced Care Antiperspirant Deodorant Original Clean at Walmart at the start of the New Year. It offers 48 hours of antiperspirant protection, protects against wetness and odor and it contains 0% ethanol alcohol so it helps underarms recover from shaving irritation.

Now, I can climb any stairs or take the long way to a meeting from the parking lot each day and not have to worry about breaking a sweat before I get there. And of course I’ve been swiping this one on the back of my neck! I mean, if it’s good enough for under my arms, why not?

And because this also contains Dove Nutrium Moisture and ¼ moisturizers, it’s seems like it’s made the skin smoother under my arms smoother.

What are your New Year’s resolutions and are you sticking to them?

Shake, Spray & Go this Season with Dove! #ad

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post. All words are my own.

It’s funny, I’ve lived in the city of Los Angeles for the more than 10 years and there are a handful of tourist attractions that I’ve never visited before. Since we just had the big Thanksgiving holiday and I had a few relatives in town, I thought, what better way to discover my own city than with some out-of-towners?

Dove-Dry-Spray-Antiperspirant-on-the-shelf

I’ve partnered up with Simply Stylist and Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant and their #ShakeSprayGo campaign to share my tips on feeling great by being prepared and getting ready for a day out exploring what Los Angeles has to offer.

Dove-and-my-out-and-about-kit

Tip 1: Always bring a small cosmetics case like in the above pic with things you might need on the go like band aids, aspirin, tissues, lip balm, hair ties and even some antacids. You never know what could crop up and you certainly don’t want it ruining your excursion.

Tip 2: Comfort is everything when it comes to outings and staying dry is a must as well. That’s why I know that when I’m using one of the many scents of Dove Dry Spray Antiperspirant, I’m getting a full 48-hours of underarm protection. I also love the instantly dry application (you can get dressed right away!) and the fact that it also cares for my skin. Yes, my heel on my shoe may break, or it may start raining but at least I know wetness will stay away from my underarms.

And I bring the can out with me in case someone I’m with needs a quick spray! Is that odd? I don’t think so. You never know what’s going to pop up and I’m just the queen of being prepared!

Tip 3: Plan on what shoes to wear or if you must wear some that are super cute but not great for doing a lot of walking in, bring some that are comfy with you.

So where did we visit? Check out the below!

Dove-Dry-Spray-Antiperspirant-and-Urban-Lights-2
Urban Lights is a pretty unique place to visit in LA. Over 200 lights make for a nice backdrop to a photo but it's pretty bright so I had a hard time getting a good shot! Read more about Urban Lights here. http://www.lacma.org/urban-light

Dove-Dry-Spray-Antiperspirant-at-The-Grove

The Grove is one of the biggest tourist attractions in LA now! And I can see why. They really do it big during holiday time. Read more about The Grove here. http://www.thegrovela.com/

Dove-Dry-Spray-Antiperspirant-and-the-Hollywood-sign

And a visit wouldn’t be complete without a trip to The Hollywood Sign. This photo was taken up around Hollywood Lake, which seems to be the closest you can get to the sign. Read more about the Hollywood Sign here. http://hollywoodsign.org/

Unilever Wants You to #TryDry

Disclosure: Post sponsored by Mirum Shopper but all opinions are my own.

Unilever-Dry-Spray-Degree-and-Dove-main

Unilever-Dry-Spray-Degree-and-Dove-up-close

Even though most of the country is experiencing abnormally high temperatures for this time of year, it’s still officially fall and it’s about to get even more official with Daylight Savings coming up this weekend. I find I do most of my house changes at this time of year, like packing away spring and summer clothes.

So with change in the air, you may find yourself needing to change some of your beauty routine up like choosing a heavier face moisturizer and changing out a lighter shade of foundation and even changing  your deodorant. I do. Unilever offers a variety of dry sprays that I’ve kind of been hooked on since discovering them last year. I like these dry sprays because they go on the skin instantly dry and since it’s colder in the house, who wants to wait around waiting for their deodorant to dry? Not me! Check out ones from AXE, Dove Men +Care, Degree and Dove at your local #Walmart.
