Have you ever been scared of a beauty product? I mean, you look at it and have no idea how to use it. That’s what happened when I looked at MAKE UP FOR EVER’s Aqua Brow. I must have picked it up and looked at it about a dozen times before actually trying it out. What’s been wrong with me??! I guess I just wasn’t ready to experience this product.

Anyway, this Aqua Brow is a highly pigmented liquid that is for filling in areas of the brow and also to help lengthen and define them. I love how long it lasts and I’m able to get a more realistic look using this with a slanted small brush than with a pencil.

Available in Light Blonde, Blonde and Ash. I’m a dark brown and I’m using the Blonde and it works perfectly as I don’t want brows that are too dark.

Eyebrows are becoming scientific! Most lines have an eyebrow pencil in their line and most of them look and have the performance of an eyeliner, except for my beloved, but never have I seen a mechanism like this for the average consumer.

I used to have my brows waxed and shaped every 2 ½ to 3 weeks but my girl kept moving further and further up the 101 highway so a 30 to 45 minute drive was quickly just not convenient. Sadness. So now, I go to see a professional brow groomer to have them shaped every few months and then maintain them myself in the meantime.

This is the second time I’ve seen this packaging and I am a fan. It’s the other item I tried from TARTE’s new Maracuja Blush & Glow and the packaging is a two-fer like this one. If you’re looking to add a dab of luminosity to your cheeks, eyes, anywhere really, you may want to dial one of these shades into your look. You can use the ball cream on the tip or the inside liquid cream depending on the look you are going for and I like that the effect is so slight since I have a heavy hand.

I’m a fan of the just-under-the-brow highlighters. I mean, when I do my eyes with mascara and a touch of shadow, I always put a highlighter under my brows. It really helps eyes pop! The latest eye opener is from  BENEFIT COSMETICS and it’s their High Brow Glow in new shade Champagne Pink. Let’s face it, if your brows look bunk, your whole look is ruined. I’m really into this new glōBrow Collection kit from GLO PROFESSIONAL. It completely totable and the items inside are pretty great quality.

It contains really everything to get your brows in shape – 4 brow stencils (I don’t know anyone who uses these or has successfully), spoolie brush, tweezers, angled brow brush, and a compact with two brow powder colors, brow wax and a under-the-brow highlighter all in a cute zip-up kit. Are you a sculpture as in, do you try and sculpt your cheekbones or eyes or nose or any part of your face with makeup? I’ve tried it here and there mostly with my cheeks and well, I guess do ok at it. Lately, I’ve been using SORME BrowLift Brow Highlighting Pencil for not only the brow area but also my cupid’s bow (the slide-looking part just below the nose and above the lips) and then lightly on the inside of each eye. The white/beige matte color will complement most complexions and is just so workable. Have you heard about making your nose appear smaller by using something like this down each side? I pretty much have the most unruly eyebrows on the planet. My father is French so not only does he have a uni-brow but the hairs are really long and as I get older, I’ve seem to inherit the super long hair trait. Normally I don’t think the average person needs to keep their brow hair in order but if you have long ones, you do. NYX COSMETICS’ Eyebrow Shaper ($8.75 @ nyxcosmetics.com) contains a blend of waxes that seem to hold them in their place and this one is enriched with vitamin E, whoo-hoo! I’ve used the ones that are more of a liquid that come in a mascara tube and the formula starts off as clear and turns to a dirty brown because I am applying it after I use a pencil to fill in. This one is just overall better because I am avoiding that aspect of yuck altogether.

Wow CLINIQUE is putting out some really useful products these days. There’s this one and then there’s this Instant Lift for Brows ($15 @ clinique.com). It’s a two-fer as in one side is the filler to add a little color to sparse brows and give them some shape, while the other side is a warm pink brow bone highlighter, which we know makes eyes just pop. And the filler is wax-based, so it will also help keep the hairs in place. Love that!! Available in 3 shades, Deep Brown, Soft Brown and Soft Blonde.
