5 Favorites … I Can’t Stop Smelling!

5-Favorite-...-I-Can't-Stop-Smelling
Have you ever had a product that you just can’t stop smelling? Like every time you walk past it, you have to stop, open it and give it a whiff? My nose loves a few and it seems to be all over the map these days. One day I’m into flowery smells and the next it does a 180 with mint. I don’t know what that’s all about but here are the ones that have come out on top.

1. LALICIOUS Extraordinary Whipped Sugar Scrub in Sugar Tiare Flower ($110/68oz, $34/16oz, $9.50/2oz @ lalicious.com) – this brand always nails it when it comes to great and unique scents. If you’ve never been to Hawaii or need to feel like you are there, this one delivers the vibe.

2. SWEET HAVEN FARMS Amore’ Artisan Soap ($6.98/7oz bar @ sweetharvestfarms.com) – I seem to be collecting soap these days. I mean I have so many that I don’t exactly use but just like to pick them up and smell them and this one currently falls in that category. It’s modeled after “Very Sexy for Men” by Victoria’s Secret.

3. L’OCCITANE Vitόria-Régia Day Flower Shower Gel ($20/8.4oz @ loccitane.com) – this one is best described as aquatic floral and is infused with vitόria-régia extract from the Amazonian in Brazil. I’d never heard of this flower before and was delightfully surprised. And this one is so fitting for this time of year!

4. THYMES Rosewood Citron Whipped Body Cream ($30/6.5oz @ thymes.com) – I must always have a luxuriously feeling cream or butter on my dresser so depending on what mood I’m in, if self-care is on the menu, one like this fits the bill. I’ve never smelled rose and citrus together but it’s pretty nice! And this one is thick and rich.

5. AQUA SPA Bath Soak in Eucalyptus + Mint from the Soothe Collection ($9.99/10oz @ aquaspabath.com) – it’s not quite bath season for me but I have a friend who takes a bath each Saturday religiously, so I’ll be sharing this post with her. This combo of eucalyptus and mint really cleans the sinuses! Their whole line contains their Marine Mineral Complex that harnesses the power of sea minerals by including such ingredients like Antioxidant Zinc, copper, and iron among others.

5 Favorites … Drugstore Finds

You don’t have to pay a lot for great beauty products and 5 here are worth the pennies that you can pick up right at your local drugstore. Two have totally unique scents, one leaves no white residue like some sunscreens can, one really kept my underarms super dry, and the last is an inexpensive hair hydrator.

5-Favorites-...-Drugstore-Finds

1. HAWAIIAN TROPIC Silk Hydration Faces Lotion SPF 30 - $9.59/1.7oz

2. AUSSIE 3 Minute Miracle MOIST - $3.99/8oz

3. CARESS Aqua Sparkle Body Wash in Lilac Blossom & Aquamarine - $5.29/12oz

4. DOVE Purely Pampering Beauty BarPistachio Cream with Magnolia Scent - $7.39/4bars

5. SECRET 'Paris Romantic Rose' Invisible Solid Antiperspirant - $4.29/2.6oz

What’s In My Shower?

What's-in-My-Shower
Clockwise from L to R:

TAYA BEAUTY Amazon White Clay Thickening Shampoo & Conditioner ($20/10oz each @ tayabeauty.com) – listen up flat and thin-haired peeps! These two will puff up strands to unseen proportions! Ok, maybe I’m being dramatic but my hair did seem a tad thicker than usual after using these for a few weeks. Both are formulated with real Amazon White Clay, extracts of Croton Lechleri Resin (also called Dragon’s Blood and is used to kill germs and heal wounds. Not sure why they use it in these two products!) and Raw Avocado Oil.

SKIN & CO. ROMA Sicilian Body Gel ($18.50/7.7oz @ dermstore.com) – this product has made this my favorite new line this month! It uses coconut-based surfactants (for lather) and extracts of organic olives, Sicilian oranges and a combo of oats and rice to keep dry skin at bay, which is really needed this time of year. The smell of this one is hard to describe besides what I picture every sophisticated house in Italy to smell like. Big recommendation (obviously)!

BE DELECTABLE Coconut & Cream Super Smoothing Body Polish ($14/8oz @ be-delectable.com, kohls.com and Kohl’s stores nationwide) – coming to us from the Canadian line, Cake Beauty, this whole collection made up of creams, mists, body washes and body scrubs is quite obsessed with smelling like desserts! Take the aforementioned body polish. It’s made with coconut oil, aloe vera, and super fine apricot shells. And I’m normally not attracted to smell of dessert unless I’m eating it, but this coconut and cream really has me hooked.

LUSH Whoosh ($6.95-$11.95/3.5oz to 8.4oz @ lush.com) – when temps drop, most of us conserve water by taking less showers and baths but when we do, don’t you want to use one that conserves moisture too? This jelly body cleanser contains glycerin and honey to help skin keep skin from getting dry, which is my problem during these months. Oh and they also threw in some rosemary, grapefruit and lemon to give your nose a thrill too.

ZELENS Aka-Shiso Reviving Mineral Shower ($45/6.8oz @ zelens.com) – how cool is it that the Zelens line has moved into body care or did I miss it when they went in this direction? Anyway, I’ve been alternating between the above body cleansers and this one in the shower. This one contains 5 essential minerals and omega-3s (one of which is Shiso (Perilla) Oil) to not only clean but really feed the skin and energize it.

Lush & Gourmet Body Pastries in the Shower!

I’ve been feeling a little fruity when it comes to scents in the shower and these two have been filling up my nose with delight!

Lush-Rose-Jam-and-Gourmet-Body-Pastries-Lemon-Souffle-Sugar-Body-Scrub

LUSH Rose Jam Shower Gel ($10.95 - $29.95 @ lush.com) – I just noticed that this is not a permanent product in the line, however, their UK site ships internationally so I’ve linked to that site if you want to order. And oh, you should so order this! Upon first giving this one a whiff, it’s like one of those Zest soap commercials from yester-year – the whole body wakes up and a smile comes across the face. The combination of Rose Obsolute, Rose Oil Egyptian Geranium and Sicilian Lemon is so delightful. And oh, before I forget, you should know that it also works nicely as a shower gel. Haha. Hopefully they will make this a permanent product in the line soon.

GOURMET BODY PASTRIES Lemon Soufflé Sugar Body Scrub ($14/4oz, $25/8oz @ gourmetbodypastries.com) – If you like dessert-scented products, support indy brands, and prefer using products with real ingredients inside, this would be a great brand for you to try. Take their scrub. You just gotta love a product with just the essentials – sugar, castor oil (not just for constipation. It’s a great humectant), olive oil, essential oil and fresh lemon zest. Like the above one, this is another that has me sniffing and sniffing it for the love of the lemon. And the prices are right on.

Gift Pick: For Myself!

What It Is: MOLTON BROWN The Bathing Treasures Collection - $50 @ moltonbrown.com

What I Like It: How many times are you out shopping for those on your list and you come away with half of your purchases for yourself? For me, it’s too many times to count, so this year, I thought I would just go ahead and give myself permission for something. I mean, how cute is this set of travel-sized shower gels? It’s a beautiful red box of 12 – 1.5oz bottles in the following scents: Pink Pepperpod , Gingerlily, Orange & Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Coco & Sandalwood, Japanese Orange, Samphire, Suma Ginseng, Black Peppercorn, Ylang-Ylang, Templetree, and Silver Birch. Stick with one scent all week or try a different one each day.

A New Way to Dispense Body Products

These pressurized can containers housing body products seem to be pretty hot these days. Is it for the sake of freshness? The only other time I’ve seen this packaging was recently here and I just thought it had something to do with the fact that it was a self-tanner. Anyway, here are two brands rocking the trend right now!

Rituals-Zenzation-Organic-Rice-Milk-&-Cherry-Blossom-and-St.-Ives-Fresh-Hydration-Lotion

Netherlands’ brand RITUALS Foaming Shower Gel ($15/6.7oz only @ barneys.com) comes in five scents, two of whic are new ones - Happy Buddha (sweet mandarin orange and cedar) and shown here, Zensation (organic rice milk and cherry blossom). These come out in your hand as a gel and turn into a foam once water hits it. Be forewarned, the gel comes out rather quickly so go easy on the nozzle.

ST. IVES Fresh Hydration Lotion ($7.69/6.5oz @ stives.com for locations) comes in three scents: Citrus & Vitamin C, Oatmeal & Shea Butter and Coconut Milk & Orchid Extract. They are made with glycerin & Shea Butter and leaves a really light trail of moisturizer in its wake. Who wants to spend time applying lotion this season? These are quick, easy and sink in quickly.

4 Spring Scents

How do you apply your scents? Here are four different ways to scent your skin this season! Body wash, cologne spray, eau de parfum and body lotion. Which do you use?

Spring-Scents
Clockwise from L to R:

DEMETER new Pixie Dust Cologne Spray ($20/1oz, among other sizes @ demeterfragrance.com next month) – looking for a really fun and simple scent? This one is a little fruity, a tad sugary and as light as Tinker Bell’s dust, which it was named after.

BODYCOLOGY Flawless Glow Luminous Lotion in Sheer Bloom ($7.97/16oz @ walmart.com) – load up the smell of white peaches and jasmine on your skin this season with this one.

L’OCCITANE Privoine Flora Eau de Parfum ($62.1.2oz @ loccitane.com) – named after the Mediterranean legend nymph Paeonia, this springy fragrance blends top notes of bergamot, grapefruit, green with a heart of peony, magnolia and rose on a base of vanilla, cedar and musk. Sexy.

LULAH Body Wash in Citron ($11.25/10oz @ lulah.com) – created for the stylish woman of today from the Thymes brand, this scent represents everything the season is – fresh, crisp, and clean with notes of pink pamplemousse, tart lemon, sweet basil and herbal leaves and is a true wake-me-up in the shower.

Spring Scents Part 3

Spring-Scents-Kat-Burki-L'Occitane-Lavanila
KAT BURKI Tubereuse
eau de parfum ($95/3.4oz @ katburki.com) – I wore this one quite a few times on my recent trip to Kauai and wow, just love the combination of peach nectar, orange, green leaves, tuberose, gardenia, jasmine all on a base of amber, rosewood and musk. Gorg!

L’OCCITANE Shower Gel in Jasmin & Bergamote ($18/5.9oz @ loccitane.com) – nothing wakes up my nose like an intoxicating shower gel. This one contains jasmine absolutes from Grasse (located in the south of France near Cannes) and Egypt and essential oils from Italy. This one is not one of those faux-scented products that overwhelms upon opening. It’s subtle and very pleasant.

LAVANILA Fresh Vanilla Lemon eau de parfum spray ($58/1.7oz @ sephora.com) – I thought this one might smell like a floor cleaner but phew, it doesn’t and the vanilla base makes it last on the skin. This also comes in a super convenient Eau de Parfum Rollerball for $19/.23oz.

Spring (Scents) Are in the Air!

Everything is coming up … springtime scents right now and here are just a few that are at the top of my list. Each highlights a floral or fruit we often associate with spring. Are any of these your favorites?

Spring-Scents-2013-Part-1EMINENCE ORGANIC Apricot Sugar Scrub ($48/8.4oz @ eminenceorganic.com) – this one smells like the definition of Spring and it’s made of all things good for the skin like Alpha Hydroxy Acids, apricot juice and pulp and their signature Biocomplex, which is a concoction of antioxidants and vitamins.

INEKE Hothouse Flower ($95/2.5oz @ ineke.com) – If you are all about gardenia, this is a good one to investigate. Know that this is not your typical gardenia though; it’s a little complex with the mix of notes like earl grey tea, green foliage, fig, frankincense on a base of guiaiacwood and musk.

THYMES Temple Tree Jasmine Body Wash ($19/9.25oz @ thymes.com) – another one you have to have to really welcome Spring and that’s jasmine. This one puts it front and center with a mix of jasmine, honeysuckle, ylang ylang, damask rose and coconut milk.

HOUSE OF HOUBIGANT Orangers en Fleurs ($180/3.3oz eau de parfum, $600/3.3oz parfum @ neimanmarcus.com) – how could you welcome Spring and not do it with orange? This one highlights orange but really steps up the sexiness by adding Rose Absolute, Egyptian Jasmine Absolute, middle notes or Tuberose, Eau de Brouts, Ylang Comores and Nutmeg on a base of Cedar Wood and Musk. Really unique! It also comes in a lotion and crème for layering.
